Relaxed, fun and good value. I've been to most of these in NYC and always a good time.
Everyone we encountered was very polite and helpful, the food was amazing, and we had a very nice time.
When we arrived our reservation was not ready. We had to wait while the hostess and One of the wait staff figured out where to seat us. The wait staff person hurried to set the table as the hostess was walking us to it.
The establishment is known for the microbrews. My husband (who had been a microbrewer for over 20 years) wanted to try their beer.
Our waitress was fine until she brought him the wrong beer. When my husband questioned it, she got defensive and argued with him. She took the beer he had, brought it back to the bar and returned with the correct beer. No apology, no comment. She just abruptly put it down in front of him and said “that’s the right one”.
From that point in, she never returned to our table again until we literally waved our arms to get her attention (WELL after we
All had finished our meals and the plates had been cleared by the bus staff). She asked if we wanted dessert and we told her no, we were ready to leave and wanted the check.
She then walked past our table several times without even glancing at us. Over 20 minutes later (at this point I was timing her) I stood up and waved my arms again and she finally came with the check. Again, we waited until I waved the check and the credit card to pay.
Because we were a party of over 6 people she had already given herself an 18% tip-I guess she knew that, and felt she had nothing to loose by ignoring us.
We have been here before and never had a problem. I’m not sure what happened tonight. We won’t go there tonight despite the original plan to do so.
Nice casual place. Not to loud and our waitress was nice. We had burgers that were great.
Good food, great service and friendly staff at a reasonable price. Can’t ask for anything more.
Beer sampler, fried pickles and the Berger were all good. Great service, walking distance from the theaters.
Marked down slightly as waiters took plate from my partner even though I was still eating. Other than that no complaints - was lovely.
My friends and I had dinner here after attending Beautiful at the Sondheim directly across the street. What a terrific find in an area filled with fast food chains , street vendors, and overall chaos! The Service, presentation, and scrumptuous entrees were definitely Zagat worthy. Oh wait...is Heartland actually a "chain"? You could have fooled me!!
Food was excellent, the decor very attractive and the service was great. Would definitely come back.
Stopped in for some apps and cocktails before a show. We wished we had made dinner reservations as well! The beers were fabulous and Isabelle, our server, was awesome! We will be back!
My daughter and I were going to see Hamilton that afternoon. Met my brother and his gf for lunch. The company was great but that is where "great" stops. Food was mediocre, waitress was curt, and food was on the expensive side. Hamilton was AWESOME!
We were going to see a show across the street and were running late and they made sure we were in and out quickly to make it on time. I had the fried pickles and the tuna tacos and they were fantastic! My husband really loved his burger as well. If going to a show in NYC again I would definitely go back there!
The menu had a lot of spicy foods. Maybe add a few more appetizers and meals for those who can't eat spicy foods. In general it was a smaller menu. Maybe a fried mozzarella cheese appetizer or boneless wings. For dinner perhaps a fried chicken sandwich with french fries that is not spicy.
Great food and service. This is your place for dinner before theatre!
Ate here after a concert. Ordered our food... Tasty but small portion for the price. When we wanted something else the waitress was embarrassed to say...the "kitchen was closed".
This was my third time at Heartland Brewery. I had such a great experience the first two times we decided to stop for dinner after seeing a play. We were an hour early and seated right away, then it went downhill from there. It took the waitress 15 - 20 minutes to come to our table and take our drink orders. She didn't ask if we wanted an app, so as she was taking the order at the table next to us, I said please bring us a pretzel too! They brought our pretzel to the table and 2 seconds later tried to serve us our dinners. I sent them back. The table next to us was served their veggies at the same time as their pretzel! At least management was quick to come to us and comp us the pretzels. I also have a food allergy and asked if the chicken and salad dressing had garlic in it. I was told emphatically, no. So I ordered a salad. I barely made it home and got sick so clearly the chicken was not garlic free. Waitresses should know the menu and if an allergy is mentioned they should make sure the food is correct. I said I wanted a plain grilled chicken breast. Nothing hard about that, but instead I received cold cut up "herb roasted" chicken that was listed on the menu. I should have sent it back, but it was taking her so long to come back to the table I thought we would be there all night... my mistake. I am not sure I will be returning to Heartland in the future. It's not like the food is cheap, it was over $70 for 2 people and that was with the $12 pretzel at N/C.
Waited 20 mins after we sat down for a server. Got the order wrong and the food was terrible. Just a horrible experience. Complained to supposed manager but offered little help except to say they have had a lot of turnover in the staff and that many of the wait staff are inexperienced. What a waste of time and money.
Food was tasteless. Everything needed salt. It was ok but I won’t go back again
We really enjoyed our dinner and were provided with great service!
Following a strict diet and easily found something to order. Very convenient to get to the theater afterwards.
Started with giant pretzel, onion rings, hard cider and a beer... all good
Steaks perfectly cooked and chicken tenders, everyone was happy with that and the cheesecake we took to go, as we had to be somewhere else in a hurry
Staff was all very friendly and attentive. A little bit drafty and cold but it’s SO COLD IN THE CITY so not the team’s fault
We went to HB for a post theatre dinner and the experience was OK; food was OK; service was OK, but as a NY'er this is exactly what was expected from a restaurant like this. It serves a purpose, but I am not adding this to my NY restaurant rotation any time soon.
Reasonable price, food was ok. Unfortunately 2 of our meals arrived to the table cold. My burger was over cooked and not very flavorful. Overall, ok place to grab a sit-down meal in NYC. I'll look elsewhere however on our next visit.
Table for 8 in the back of the restaurant was perfect for our party to be able to hear each other. Most of the party ordered burgers and they all enjoyed them. However the service was less than stellar. The server was pretty absent. When I booked the reservation and when I confirmed the reservation I mentioned we wanted to celebrate a birthday when we ordered dessert. The server didn't acknowledge anything until I pulled them aside to discuss halfway through dinner. The birthday dessert arrived without warning before they even took the rest of the dessert orders. Separately the bathrooms were a disgusting mess. At the end of the day it was a restaurant experience typical of most Times Square dining: mediocre and rather frustrating.
Service was excellent, food was mediocre, beer was lacking flavor.
This is a great family restaurant. Friendly staff, great food and relaxing environment. Homemade pretzels are outstanding! Perfect place to complete a fun filled day in the city.
