Took my wife out on a birthday dinner date to Hearth. It’s quite a lovely little spot, nestled inside an Inn. The bar in the front has a fireplace where some guests were just chatting and sharing bottles of wine, quite the ambiance to walk into on a cold night. The food was excellent, I had short ribs, she had scallops. Dirty martinis were dirty and delicious, the glasses of wine were heavy pours. We weren’t too enthused by the dessert menu but having previously mentioned it was my wife’s birthday the waiter brought out some chocolate truffles on the house for us to finish our wine with.
All told Hearth offers a pretty small menu, if any gripe I’d say a couple of seasonal specials would help bump up the selection but we really loved it. See you in the spring on the porch!!

My boyfriend and I have been to Hearth several times at this point and we can never believe how delicious it is, and how inexpensive it is for the caliber of cuisine. It feels like we're getting away with something! It's truly fantastic- everything we've had here has been delicious, even vegetarian options that I thought might just be throw away dishes are incredible. Don't forget dessert! And the bread!

Lovely setting, convenient location, good food. Perfect for a leisurely dinner in a more intimate setting. Appreciated not being rushed by the wait staff. Would strongly recommend that the chef consider increasing portion size of the entrees and salads. Food was tasty.

Valet was also very pleasant.

We had an outstanding meal. My husband and I both ordered the gnocci, which was the best that we have ever had anywhere. We were in the small room, which is not nearly as nice as the main dining room. The endive salad was fabulous also! Highly recommend this restaurant, but would request the main dining room next time.

This was our second year having Thanksgiving Dinner at Hearth. A wonderful meal again. The vegetarian options were interesting and very tasty. The fish was cooked perfectly. The service was very professional, attentive and friendly. Great dining room space, feels cozy.

Great food. Many gluten free options. The quiet ambience is such a nice change from all the bustling, noisy restaurants in the area. The service was excellent. We had a lovely time and wondered why we don't come more often.

Generally a nice place. Dining rooms (there are two) have a bad acoustic and are consequently very noisy. Not a place for an intimate romantic dinner. Food and service was also generally very good with one notable exception. The toasts on the Beef Tartare starter arrived burnt. When we questioned the waiter about it, he acted like this was the normal preparation and described the bread as "grilled". Sorry, 50% of the toasts were black. Grilled bread should be brown. Additionally, the waiter never offered to replace the toasts perhaps waiting for us to request it. Frankly, a good waiter would never have brought the plate to the table that way. The portion, by the way, was a bit small compared to the chickpea fries starter. Otherwise the food was quite good especially the brownie dessert.

Cozy ambiance albeit a bit loud. We were there for an early Saturday dinner. I had butternut squash gnocchi which was very tasty and my hubby had the duck which was excellent. Parking is tough in this area. Be prepared to pay the $7 valet fee. Overall, a nice dinner.

We enjoyed our evening with two friends and we were staying at hotel .

All staff very friendly and personable and helpful. Our server was very good and took good care of us. We loved the delicious food and and wine list and cocktails. Only complaint was the portion one our friends got when he order the Gnocchi. He felt should have been more especially compared with the amounts that were in our different dishes.
Especially liked the warmth of the fireplace and the cozy and warm ambiance of the restaurant. We will go again when we visit Evanston .

I have enjoyed many meals at Hearth, but had not been there for several months. When I returned, I found that the menu had changed entirely, and that most of the dishes that I particularly enjoyed were gone-a big problem as I didn't find the current offerings particularly to my liking. I was also quite disappointed in the quality. The carrot soup was overly peppery, though I had been warned that it was not a creamed soup and was somewhat spicy. I had short ribs as a main course and found the serving small with rather skimpy side dishes. The dish was OK but nothing special. We passed on dessert since we found little of interest.

The restaurant, though not prohibitively expensive, is not cheap either. I found the ratio of food to cost to be quite low. I don't plan to go there again. Too bad-the room is beautiful with a comfortable feel and a pleasant noise level. If the food was as it used to be, it would be one of my local favorites.

This used to be our “go to” restaurant for special occasions, but we won’t go back. They have a new chef who started four weeks ago and the menu is totally changed. We generally share tastes when we’re with family and close friends, so we all tasted four appetizers, entrees and desserts. None were up to the previous standards. Service and ambience are still excellent, but the food is ordinary and portions are generally small. Prices are unchanged but the decline in food makes Hearth a poor value.

We had a lovely meal at Hearth. The setting is lovely - a cozy little space in a classic hotel. We really liked the ability to order a smaller portion of some of the entrees because then we had enough room to get dessert. The s'mores dessert was a little disappointing, but everything else was very good. I especially enjoyed the sweet potato gnocchi! For as nice as the atmosphere is and the level of service we received, the prices were pretty reasonable. Not a cheap meal, but a nice way to celebrate a special occasion without breaking the bank.

Hearth's Fall menu is immaginative with well-balanced combinations. The updated cocktail menu is equally innovatve and "smooth." Hearth is a great place for a quiet dinner with friends or just a good meal with prices reasonable for the level of food services.

The atmosphere is very cozy and refined - a good spot for a special evening. Service was outstanding. The whipped gorgonzola appetizer was good, and the bread was delicious. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the short rib - the accompaniments of polenta and greens were both heavily salted, more so than the rib itself, when they needed to provide relief and counterpoint. Hard to get through, sadly.

Very refined food and a compact but creative menu. Spare rib and duck breast both very good, and risotto for a starter was excellent. The Gorgonzola starter is a bit overpowering; the carrot soup, rather spicy, came with too many garnishes. Sorbets were both lovely, but the mint in the chocolate mint ice cream was very faint. Attentive service, nicely paced. It's a rather dark restaurant and the bare tabletops are not really welcoming. There is a bit too much packed into or stacked onto each dish, and the plates seem busy, even fussy. On the whole, Hearth manages a nice balance between an informal atmosphere, right for the neighborhood, and an ambitious vision of carefully-executed food.

My daughter absolutely loved the ambiance, starting with her noticing that the menu listed all the staff names. The service was great, and our waiter answered every question we had, including finding out what the ingredients we couldn't identify that gave the sauce served with the duck its flavor. Don't go too hungry, though, as the portions are definitely on the small side. First restaurant I have ever eater at where I had an appetizer, a main meal and a dessert and was not full.
