Hearth and Tap Co. Ratings and Reviews
I was introduced by friends to Hearth and Tap Co. and came back the following night with different friends to share. The chicken pot pie is great, the beef goulash was superb, the beef pot pie was incredible. Come try this place, it just might become your favorite restaurant.
We went during off hours so it wasn't very loud. The food was amazing, beer was good and the service was great. The avocado toast was incredible as was the chicken pot pie -definitely favorites! The Greek salad with chicken was excellent - maybe a tiny bit salty - an excellent choice for someone who doesn't eat meat. The beef soup was just amazing comfort food, especially on a rainy overcast day. Will definitely be beck next time we are in Jersey.
Pretty good food/ambiance but border-line incompetent organizational skills in the background: this lovely, hard-working, well-meaning young lady was tasked to take orders from/look after the ENTIRE outdoor patio section (roughly 10 tables). High marks for the chef and this young lady who did her best to keep most, if not all, guests happy.
They had a seated immediately but we did go for a 630 dinner. The food and appetizers were delicious we got the roasted brussels sprouts which was so good. The only thing was that they sat us underneath a speaker so it was a little loud for us to be trying to talk to the other people at our table. I didn't want to ask them to turn it down because I didn't want to ruin others night out. Overall great experience
Great place to share dishes. Have eaten here several times. Grilled octopus is always good. The meatballs are big (2 per order) and flavorful. There is a cigar bar so sometimes you can smell a little cigar in main dining room by it is not overwhelming. Nice outdoor patio dining area.
Went there for my birthday. It's very beautiful and ornate decorations and the food, oh my, was sooooo good! Had meatballs as appetizer and salmon for dinner and both were very excellent. Staff was okay nothing to write home about. I would only come back on special occasions because it is pricey but very good.
Enjoyed previous visits, but last Saturday evening, large party upstairs had negative impact on kitchen and service. After long wait for two of three entrees, one sent back as too cold to eat. Did not request replacement and was not charged (good), but manager failed to offer comp coffee, dessert or drinks (not so good).
May not return.
We were looking to take advantage of a beautiful evening, so chose this place because of the great reviews, and because it offered outdoor dining.
We had reservations for 5:30, and when we arrived, we could see the patio had plenty of empty tables. I made my reservation online, making a note that we wanted to dine outside. But, when we checked in, the person greeting us at the door directed the waitress to seat us inside. When I said we preferred to dine on the patio, and that I did make a note when I made my reservations, I was told in a very direct tone that they do not accept reservations for the patio, but since they had tables available on the patio they would honor my request. I just found the delivery of the policy to be rude and why was it even necessary since there was plenty of available seating? My husband found it to be rude enough to leave, but we stayed. I really wanted to try this place.
To summarize the entire experience, service to food: We were very disappointed. Thankfully the attitude from the greeter at the door didn't transfer to the wait staff, who were all very friendly. But our server wasn't attentive enough. My husband said again "we can pay for our drinks and leave", but with the wonderful reviews, I wanted to see if the meal would rescue the evening. Well, our entrees all came out at different times, at least 5 minutes apart. The burger was burnt, as was the flatbread. The flatbread also came with an added coating of black dirty oven dust. The empanadas were wonderfully crispy, but the filling was bland, as was the house salad. Nothing we chose was that enjoyable, except for the ideal patio seating. Maybe it was an off night?
Rustic old and kind of funky/kind of old school little place that still has a smoking room (which I didn't see and only smelled at the entrance). Great cocktails and beer selection. Creative and elevated comfort food options with vegetarian choices as well as pork belly options! We really enjoyed it!
I should start by saying that this has not been our first visit to Hearth and Tap and never did we have such a horrible / unfortunate experience.
It started with a glitch in the system and OpenTable had their last reservation at 10:45 when their kitchen closes at 11.
Our entire party of 6 arrived within 10 minutes of our reservation time.
From our first Hello until we got the check all we got was attitude , whatever we ordered and they didn't have any more of they simply brought to the table without it.
They should have told us they cannot give us a reservation for that time instead of making us feel they wanted us gone. We would have gotten over the glitch in the system but attitude towards us was sooo bad that it really really left us with bitter feelings towards this place.
