Like the old historic building. Was on a date, seated in cozy quiet loft. Was helpful with the menu, they have great eclectic choices, veg, etc. likely will return when downtown
Burgers were very good!! A little expensive for every day dining. 2 Burgers & 2 Beers was just over $48.00 before tip. Also had to pay $10 to park. Chicken & Waffles looked good. We may go back & split an order of that.
Service was great! Food was excellent! Quail w cheddar grits was phenomenal! Only downside is my coffee taste like tea! ( I’m not a drinker). But I do love my coffee so that was kinda a disappointment! But I would go back!
Awesome chicken and waffles
We enjoyed a great lunch/brunch before catching a Houston Ballet matinee.
Service was ok. Waiter was not attentive. Food was ok .. cold
Busy Friday night at a popular downtown venue. An below average dining experience. Stuffed Salmon was dry and not stuffed but rather drizzled the topping. Stuffed chicken was better but still dry. They KNOW how to make Risotto! I might repeat on a weeknight when it was slower.
We just had beers and some apps. Not a great selection on beers, but decent. Would like to come back for dinner.
I've been coming to Heresay on Sunday's for months, but the service is getting progressively slower and slower. I was in a party of two and we sat for 30 mins before even getting our drink order. We ordered the bottomless mimosas but the refill only came once. The server did not come back to check after delivering food, so I had to get up to get my own salt and pepper. The server took what seemed like days to bring our check after requesting it. I could see the server was preoccupied with other tables. Maybe Heresay needs more servers to fulfill the demand of customers.
Awful service - took us almost an hour just to order our food because our waiter disappeared. Bottomless mimosas are useless when they don't get refilled! Saw the waiter twice over two hours. The music downstairs was so loud that we couldn't hear each other speaking upstairs so we spent the whole brunch either yelling across the table or sitting in silence. The table next to us broke a glass and it shattered all over and under our table, but no one ever came to clean it up.
Nice atmosphere for bar food in theater district. Good pre-theater spot.
As a fall back and go to restaurant, Hearsay's is usually very solid with really good food, service and a friendly place. Our reservation was for 7:30 P.M. but our table was not ready until well after 8:00 PM. Service / food etc. as usual was very good. We sat at the bar and ate appetizers while we waited as we were quite hungry. We were not the only folks waiting for tables.
The food and service was amazing for Brunch. The live band adds a great ambience as well while dining.
Great spot. Never disappoints.
Loved the food and cocktails! The shrimp tempura was delicious, and the Mac and cheese was amazing as well.
Really like the poblano soup as well as the burrata salad. Beer selection is ok but could be improved. Service was good and prices a bit high
The Host was curt upon greeting us and escorting us to our table. There was no personable interaction at all.
The server was inattentive throughout the majority of our meal. He didn’t bother to check on us at all. And it seemed like we were “a hurry up and get out so the real customers can dine here” type of table to the host and server.
I will not be returning to Hearsay for a long while.
A group of my girlfriends and I visited Hearsay Gastro for Sunday brunch. The everything was great from the food, to the ambiance and live band. Service needs a little work. Specifically, our server Dexter who was not very attentive at all. Although he did provide us with a round waters after being seated, he never introduced himself as our server. After about 20 minutes, we found ourself a flagging down another server in passing to ask ask who was assigned to our table. It was Dexter. Mind you, he told us his name AFTER he was summoned to our table and we ASKED for it. The food was great and the music was fantastic....a little on the loud side but still fantastic. On a on a positive note for Dexter, he kept our glasses filled with bottomless mimosas. But when it was time for the check...again nowhere to be found. Overall, I absolutely enjoy HGL and won’t allow one bad experience to change my rating of the restaurant. I would definitely recommend to any of my friends.
My previous experiences here were always top-notch. On this occasion, it was only fair. The principal problem was the lack of wait staff attention. Our waiter only came to check on us when we were forced to flag him down. Had to hunt down our own missing silverware and then a steak knife. The cocktails were good but small in volume. Others at my table enjoyed their steak and salmon. My pork chops were on the chewy side.
Would give it another chance, but service needs to improve.
Great food and wonderful atmosphere. Love this place!!!
Food, service, and ambiance very nice. Restrooms were well kept. It was a bit on the noisy side (but it was St. Patricks night).
Great food and great service
If I use the ability to leave a 6-Star review I can say that I wouldn't hesitate, not even for a moment.
From fantastic, and prompt service even during busy hours, to beautiful seating a full story above the rest looking below at the bar as floor to 3-floor brick ceilings complete with a post-industrial aesthetic complete with a vertical hardwood piece surrounds you. This was the perfect environment to bring to impressive a date, or even your wife in my case.
Great food, as well as a great experience finished out the rest, but even if the food had been awful their innovative and delicious craft cocktails and general ambiance did the rest.
Had a great birthday dinner! We had to wait for our table but the manager came over and assured us it was about to be ready. Food was delicious, but really we have not had a bad meal here yet!
Hearsay has been a consistent great choice for a cool place in downtown Houston! The filet mignon plate is excellent.
We had a fabulous server!
The food here is very good. The menu is a tad limited. Service was better this time.
Food was excellent service was terrible. Sat at the table for 15 Minutes before we were even acknowledged by the waiter. We asked if mimosas were bottomless he said they were, after our first round no one came for another 10 Minutes for a refil and after that we had to find someone and ask for a refil because it took so long and we’re then told that it ended at 2:00 so we payed 12$ For bottomless and got 3.
Great bottomless mimosa deal for Sunday Brunch and a cool live band!
Food was very good, waiter was top notch.
Only complaint is that we had a reservation for 5:00 pm, we were the first of any customer to be seated upstairs and the hostess was going to put us next to the server station. When we asked for a different table the hostess was unwilling to change our table. The waiter intervened and helped to put us at a different 2 person table and we had a wonderful meal and enjoyed a date night without interruption.
The food was great and the ambience was perfect. We had the quail and grits as an appetizer and it was delicious. For entrees, we got the seafood risotto and seafood and andouille pasta. We were extremely pleased with our choices. All the staff were encountered were friendly and helpful with suggestions. I will definitely return.
Friends and I were at Hearsay to celebrate a birthday. The place was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service was impeccable - a perfect lunch on a perfect day!
I got the Chicken sandwich, and needed to ask for salt since it was a little bland.
Very nice place and good music . Little noisy for basket in Tv that make people speak and loud more!
Optimum quality of food !
Open until late hours, Ok for all occasions friends couple business.
Can't beat the bottomless mimosas on weekends. And the food is great too! Great time with A.J. as our server and Huey, the Asst. GM came by too.
Wonderful dinner. Fabulous cocktails.
I love Hearsay and have been several times. However last Friday there was a water pipe that broke in Downtown Houston causing them to lose water pressure. Was called 4 minutes before my reservation time to tell me they had to be closed by law since they didn’t have water.
Excellent, creative & tasty food, very interesting cocktail (I had the one with a slice of bacon), and a wonderful ambience in a beautiful space. No wonder this was one of the few busy restaurants in a quiet downtown on President's Day.
This was our second visit. We absolutely love this place. AJ, our server, was also amazing! He made our dining experience that much more special on my husband's birthday. We had a wonderful time with friends in an amazing setting with delicious food.
The food wasn’t good. Nice manager. Nice ambiance, went our second time before theatre and had main enters. Maybe the hamburgers are better. I would not recommend it for a meal.
