Hearsay is always a treat to visit and our favorite when we attend an event in downtown Houston.
We truly enjoyed our dining, wine and drinks this time at Hearsay. Danny was our server and we found him to be be very attentive, helpful and pleasant.
I loved it, took my friend for her birthday and she was surprised and amazed but the atmosphere
Amazing hostess! Our new best friend!
Great place. Very nice. Waitress could have been quicker to help.
Great place to eat prior to Houston Symphony performance...within walking distance.
Very disappointing as we have had dinner before the show on other occasions. While the waitress was friendly she had not been trained so wasn’t aware to take our drink orders first while we reviewed the menu. Time to receive the food was poor as we did not have time for dessert despite a 6 pm reservation and 8 pm show. Steaks were cooked poorly. I had ordered a filet medium rare and it was well done and maybe 2 inches in diameter so it was very small. My wife’s steak was cold so it had been sitting out for awhile before the food was served. Same issue with the soup we ordered. The food had been high end before as well as the service so we were quite puzzled as to what changed.
Went for my husbands birthday. The food, drinks, service and ambiance was great. Not a big fan of their fish tacos. Were a little dry for my taste
I have been to Hearsay many times. My daughter and I have season tickets to the Pops at Jones Hall.
This past Friday night we had reservations for 6:00 pm. We arrived on time. The first question from the hostess was did we have reservations. Then she proceeded to walk us past an almost empty dining area on the first floor and take us upstairs to our table. I requested we sit downstairs and she said the tables were all reserved. “But we have a reservation”, I replied. She disregarded my statement. About 20 minutes later when I went downstairs to the ladies room, the majority of tables were still empty. When we left the restaurant at 7:20, sadly there were still empty tables.
If you don’t mind arriving for an event only to find that a few people came early to save the best seats and you have to sit in a corner away from the entertainment-then the food at Hearsay is worth it. (Our waiter was excellent).
But, if you appreciate the ambiance of a restaurant along with polite treatment by the hostess, I recommend the Lancaster or Perbacco.
Amazing atmosphere and dining experience!
The service was rushed but slow to take drink orders, and no paying attention to whether we needed refills or not. They closed at 10pm and said their kitchen closed at 9 and rushed us out as best they could. Shame about the service, the food was mainly good, steak was average. Ambience is nice in there, cool location and decor.
Beautiful place. Amazing food. Would highly recommend to friends and family.
My experience at Hearsay was very nice. The environment was very relaxing and at the same time entertaining. Our meal was full of flavor and pleasant on the palate. I had the chicken and waffles which I switched for the lemon ricotta pancakes and my husband had the Cajun salmon omelet. I had the best both worlds some of his and a little bit of mine. My family accompanied us and they enjoyed their meal and experience as well. The band was AMAZING! We enjoyed our experience and will be back.
Stay away. Horrible service, out of 2 things we tried to order. Waitress was clueless on on menu...only thing quick was the check...
Hearsay Market Square used to be my favorite brunch spot but after my recent visit, I don’t think I will go back. The aesthetic and my waitress were amazing but that’s it. There is now $10 valet but that didn’t used to be there. They got rid of the bottomless mimosas and now charge $4/mimosa, and tried to tell me that’s cheap. There are plenty of downtown brunch spots who, if they don’t do bottomless mimosas, they have $10/pitcher or carafe. The mimosa at Hearsay was strong but tasted weirs. The food isn’t bad but it’s nothing to write home about. There’s nothing that makes Hearsay stand out to me anymore, unfortunately.
Would recommend ONLY for appetizers and drinks NOT dinner. My steak salad was missing ALL the ingredients (tomatoes, onions, corn, alvacado and salad dressing ) basically it was dry lettuce and a little piece if steak with fat in it. I kept thinking something was missing ??? Asked server for dressing and about the salad, he didn’t even take the salad back or get me the missing ingredients. We had s party of 8 and spent over $300.00 will not return.
I'd recommend it. The drinks aren't that good in my opinion. Get beer or wine. Something that don't have to make.
This was our first time at this place and IT WAS OUTSTANDING!!!!! Steaks. Shrimp pasta and chicken sandwich were all ON point!!!!
Absolutely recommend this restaurant!!
They got the wine wrong, one of the 3 meals wrong and the service person was inexperienced.
Great food and great value. I would recommend to others
Service is very slow!! Had to ask for everything. Several mistakes with our order. Great cocktail menu.
Great food , atmosphere and service. Our server Grace was very attentive and it was nice to meet the new manager Brian. A wonderful, relaxing evening! Thank you.
I so love this place! Not too crowded, setting is beautiful and the food is so delicious! Will definitely return soon!
Excellent food service decor and ambiance. Perfect for date night. Interior has true character. A Houston gem.
From the drinks to the food to the conversation with our waiter, it was a fantastic evening dinner date!
Food was excellent! We sat upstairs and it was really nice and quiet. Service was great!
Great service and food is excellent. The ambiance is one of the best in the Houston downtown area. The scene hip and close to the downtown action for a great night out.
This is the third time I have eaten at Hearsay. This time I was very disappointed. Hostess was rude. Service was not great and the food was bad. Two of us ordered the salad with the steak on it and the meat was not tender and had big chunks of fat all through it. My husband order the sandwich with the same type of steak in it and it was the same way. The cooks should trim this off of the meat!!! I will not be back.
Pork chop was a little tough but chicken and burgers were good. Chocolate cake was very dry which was disappointing since it was for my mom’s birthday and she loves chocolate cake. All in all a good meal but for the price I was left wanting a little higher quality.
Hearsay is the first place I take guest when visiting downtown. The food, drinks, and ambiance never disappoint. My only complaint would be how close you have to sit to other people but it’s not exactly a large place. Great location and amazing experience!
I always love the atmosphere here and the food is always delicious.
Went to Hearsay before Theater on a Friday night at 6:00PM. Wine was good; service was excellent. Food left a lot to be desired. They were not busy; now I understand why. Tomato appetizer was different but unremarkable. Just lots of tomato chunks with a weird soft cheese dumped on it. Had expected a caprese, and this was not it. The mushroom crusted New York Strip steak was poor quality- very tough with a tendon running through middle. The pairing with French fries cheapened the flavors and presentation. Truffle oil just doesn’t fancy up frozen out of bag fries enough to make this work. Stuffed chicken had decent flavor and good sides but was over cooked and dry. At $120, this meal was a disappointment. Much better quality to be had elsewhere downtown.
Service was top notch. The food was delicious and prompt.
Love, love, love! Will definitely be back for the service and awesome food!
Had a great brunch, food and service was outstanding
My husband and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We put that in the details when booking. The hostess nor waiter even acknowledged it by saying "happy anniversary". I thought they might do something small like at least say it since that cost nothing or put a rose or something on our table. We were sat in a corner beside the bar upstairs where there was an empty extra table with ipad charging next to me that was kind of awkward. I ordered the Pan Seared Red Snapper and husband ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp. Pricey for what you got and sauce a tad cool. The atmosphere was nice. I had thought they might have a live band on a Saturday night but didn't so it felt a little unexciting. I guess my expectations were higher.
I ordered the shrimp and lobster. I got 4 shrimp and pieces of lobster, if it was lobster and not tofu with lobster flavoring. Not worth the $28.
Had a great lunch with a few coworkers. Over environment is exceptional, food was excellent, and everyone left satisfied. Great place!
Anthony was great!
Loved the food, atmosphere, music and vibe! Great cocktails, also! We had the Whitney and the Sazerac - both amazing! We weren’t happy with our first table, and the manager was able to relocate us quickly, despite the packed house! Will definitely come back again!
Great food and drinks as always! One of my favorite spots in downtown Houston. The live music was nice, and not so loud that you couldn't carry on a conversation.
