Absolutely love this place!! We loved the food and our waitress was the best!
The food is worth a return visit. The service was spotty.
Food was amazing! Space was beautiful! Staff complained about their jobs, the customers, and how disgusting the food was...
I haven't been here in about 8 years, and I'm glad to see it is still thriving. The lamb lollipops have long been my favorite and they didn't disappoint this time. Great room, terrific wine & cocktail list. list (they were doing craft cocktails before the rest of the world joined in).
One note, however - the place smelled a bit funky. Kinda like some meat had gone bad or something. They need to take care of that.
I enjoyed my birthday brunch here! Everyone worked as a team to keep everyone pleased.
One of my favorite restaurants in Houston! Great atmosphere and outstanding food!
Love the architecture of the place. Good variety on the menu. Well made cocktails. Our waitress, Summer, was very friendly and helpful.
The decor and ambiance was terrific. The history of the building was so unique and the staff enjoyed telling the story to us.
Overall....the experience was great! Service, however, was not. We were seated at 7:03, by 7:15, our server still had not made an appearance. I asked for our server, and FINALLY, at 7:27, someone came to our table to take our drink orders. Otherwise, the food was great, and the drinks were exceptional!
We decided to visit Hearsay before a show at Jones Hall. Hearsay is a cool restaurant with a great vibe, but the service that evening was pretty bad. The server told us he'd be with us shortly, but he didn't return for another 10 minutes. When asked the catch of the day, he didn't know. We ordered our food and drinks, and when the food arrived, it was lukewarm. My wife ordered the spinach and tomato stuffed chicken that was quite tasty (not hot), but the server got the sides incorrect. He later brought out the risotto that she ordered, but she was already halfway done with her meal (the risotto was decent, but not worth it IMO). My pork chop was tasty, but then again, not hot. Instead of sides, I ordered a tasty wedge, but the server didn't provide me a steak knife or offer cracked pepper. When my normal knife wasn't cutting it, I had to go find my waiter and ask for a steak knife, and had to find a pepper mill on my own.
When we asked for the check, the server then told us about a great promotion for cheap flights to Hawaii (weird).
Overall, I'd go back to hearsay for drinks, but the service on this visit really affects my opinion of the restaurant. I have no plans to visit again any time soon because of this experience. However, it doesn't mean I won't return in the near future.
Headed to Jones Hall for a concert. This place has excellent food and a good bar tender. Close walk to all downtown venues.
Excellent service , superb cocktails and yummy food :p
I am sure it was just a bad day. The food was lukewarm when served and our server was rather flaky and unfocused.
The food was great. Good environment. Might need a bit more wait staff at times but overall a great restaurant.
This was my fifth or so visit to this restaurant. Previous experiences have been good. This experience rather disappointing. Had a reservation at 6 pm for two for ore-show dining. Restaurant not full at all when we arrived. Hostess took us upstairs where more then 12 tables were vacant and seated us next to the bar and within a arm’s reach of a busing station. We asked to be reseated and she gave a much better location. Menus and water service were o prompt. Then we waited. Three other parties came in after us and had drinks before we saw our server. I finally walked over to get the bartender’s attention. Then, the sever came over promptly. She was friendly and attentive once she took the drink order.
We order the corn soup - so salty we could not eat it. It was not taken off the bill. The mahi mahi tacos very fresh and tasty. Perfect for sharing. Also ordered lamb lollipops - super fatty - was able to get only 1 or 2 bites off of them that did not contain fat. Ordered sides of Gouda Mac and cheese which was dry and looked as if it had been sitting for a long time. Asparagus was cooked and seasoned nicely.
Will return to this spot because it is a good place for pre-theatre dining but this experience was overall disappointing.
the Astro's World Series game was on the TV and the crowd was enthused !! the food was really good and diverse in choices and flavor combos. A great choice for a casual but classy dinner
Food was delicious and service was decent. What ruined the experience was hostest came to our table and told us we had to leave because they had a reservation for our table, but their were 15 open tables in the restaurant. I could a hostest doing that if the restuarant was full but it was not. Which makes the experience go from an 8.5 to a 2.75 - 3.
We had an amazing time. The ambiance was great and our server was on top of everything...even during the Astros game (Altuve homerun)! We made reservations to ensure we had good seating but were running late. The hostess was very accommodating and easy to work with.
Def suggest this location over the one that is closer to the Toyota Center.
We had a great dinner at Hearsay Market Square. The drinks, food and service (Anthony was the best!) we all outstanding.
You have to have the burger here at this location!!!! My favorite burger downtown Houston. Yum.
Overall very good but bar service was slow.
It was dirty. My menu was sticky. The table was dirty as well. The floor was sticky also. If what you can see is this dirty I hate to see what kitchen is like. Total turn off. Would not recommend.
We really enjoyed Hearsay Market Square! The drinks were excellent and the bartender was great! We loved sitting at the bar watching the Astros, but it would be good for any sports watching. The burgers are excellent, as well as the sides.
21 Birthday for our daughter
Really great Southern Burger! Best burger that I can recall!
This place has been talked about so much by my friends that I had really high expectations. So I came here with an out of town friend, and that was a big mistake. It was ear-deafening loud from a live musician. We eventually asked them to turn it down and they did. The other issue is that the tables are like a foot or less apart. We just so happened to have this extremely loud group of women next to us and then with another group on the other side of us talking, I really felt claustrophobic and it was honestly hard to think and talk with so much around us.
Then the food. So they brought our cheese board before the wine. They just set it down and ran off without telling us anything about it or asking if we needed anything. We had to sit for many minutes staring at it before we could flag someone down to ask for plates and where our wine was.
There is also the $10 valet charge. Overall I feel like there are so many amazing places in Houston, I can’t ever see myself coming here. I felt so regretful of bringing my friend here who I rarely see.
The service was very poor. Apparently the servers did not show up for work and they were trying to use a buss boy as a server. Probably a much better place when their people show up for work.
The food was great (as usual) but our waiter was super inattentive. We had to ask for a drink menu after about 20 mins of being seated and only saw her about 2 times during our dinner. We’ve come here many times & often bring out of town friends. The service was pretty disappointing this time.
The building was breath-taking!! Food was great and the service wonderful!! We would make that choice again!!
Food is always great. So enjoy the live music during Sunday brunch. I tried that kale chicken salad-delicious! Eric gave us great service too. We’ll be back soon.
Hearsay is always a treat to visit and our favorite when we attend an event in downtown Houston.
We truly enjoyed our dining, wine and drinks this time at Hearsay. Danny was our server and we found him to be be very attentive, helpful and pleasant.
I loved it, took my friend for her birthday and she was surprised and amazed but the atmosphere
Amazing hostess! Our new best friend!
Great place. Very nice. Waitress could have been quicker to help.
Great place to eat prior to Houston Symphony performance...within walking distance.
Very disappointing as we have had dinner before the show on other occasions. While the waitress was friendly she had not been trained so wasn’t aware to take our drink orders first while we reviewed the menu. Time to receive the food was poor as we did not have time for dessert despite a 6 pm reservation and 8 pm show. Steaks were cooked poorly. I had ordered a filet medium rare and it was well done and maybe 2 inches in diameter so it was very small. My wife’s steak was cold so it had been sitting out for awhile before the food was served. Same issue with the soup we ordered. The food had been high end before as well as the service so we were quite puzzled as to what changed.
Went for my husbands birthday. The food, drinks, service and ambiance was great. Not a big fan of their fish tacos. Were a little dry for my taste
I have been to Hearsay many times. My daughter and I have season tickets to the Pops at Jones Hall.
This past Friday night we had reservations for 6:00 pm. We arrived on time. The first question from the hostess was did we have reservations. Then she proceeded to walk us past an almost empty dining area on the first floor and take us upstairs to our table. I requested we sit downstairs and she said the tables were all reserved. “But we have a reservation”, I replied. She disregarded my statement. About 20 minutes later when I went downstairs to the ladies room, the majority of tables were still empty. When we left the restaurant at 7:20, sadly there were still empty tables.
If you don’t mind arriving for an event only to find that a few people came early to save the best seats and you have to sit in a corner away from the entertainment-then the food at Hearsay is worth it. (Our waiter was excellent).
But, if you appreciate the ambiance of a restaurant along with polite treatment by the hostess, I recommend the Lancaster or Perbacco.
Amazing atmosphere and dining experience!
The service was rushed but slow to take drink orders, and no paying attention to whether we needed refills or not. They closed at 10pm and said their kitchen closed at 9 and rushed us out as best they could. Shame about the service, the food was mainly good, steak was average. Ambience is nice in there, cool location and decor.
