Old-world charm, culinary innovation, and hyper-local produce...The Healesville Hotel in the heart of the Yarra Valley is always in tune with the seasons, making it a year-round fave for locals and tourists on the winery trail. Beyond the Edwardian building itself, the restaurant is a stunner when it comes to rustic and honest cooking.
While there’s traditional pub fare on offer in addition to some fancier dishes like roasted wandin quail and slow roasted berkshire pork. The menu rotates weekly, though you can count on just-plucked-from-the-garden herbs and produce making an appearance. Treat yourself to a hospitable and heavenly lunch or dinner at Healesville Hotel, it will be a dining experience to remember.
Amazing food, wine and service. Highly recommended.
The setting in the pub was great, relaxing and the service was great our meals were perfect
will definitely be returning.
Always a pleasure dining here, menu has great selection but maybe need a couple of more vegetarian options but great service every time.
Great operation. Food excellent, ingredients fresh. Top class.
Nice! Good selection of local produce on the menu.
Service was friendly, but extremely slow despite being a quiet weekday.
Late booking New Year's day...no problem. Great staff, food yum and drinks very nice
A pleasant spot to bring in the New Year. Service varied between very professional, to a couple of new kids trying hard, but not there yet. Food was good.
Fabulous food , excellent service even though very busy New Years Day ... pleasantly surprised on our first visit - will def visit again .. Lovely 😊
We had a wonderful afternoon at Healesville Hotel the staff were extremely friendly efficient nothing
to much trouble. Atmosphere of the restaurant we just loved. The guys were disappointed you didn't
have more variety of beer. We have been there before and we will be tat way again
We have eaten here several times but on this occasion the food was second rate & the service very off hand. The waiter didn’t look at all interested.
Asparagus entree was tough & woody & the steak tough & not juicy. The fish was tasteless & dry & was served with asparagus- When I ordered the entree I should have been told my main course came with asparagus.
Overall a very disappointing meal. I will not return
A necessary part of any visit to Healesville. We really enjoyed our previous visits and wondered whether the standard had been maintained, but we were not disappointed. Delicious food, local ingredients, professional and attentive but not intrusive service.
We love coming to eat at this hotel. The staff are exceptional, the food is delicious, mostly locally sourced and is always well presented. Great wine list also!
Love the place. It has always been a special event in our lives to treat ourselves to a meal at the Healesville hotel. Great staff, with great knowledge of the menu and wine list.
The limited menu is a far cry from recent years and was a real disappointment. It lacked imagination The T-bone steak that I buy at the supermarket is better! There were no specials in the evening and I won’t be going back
Dining room appears to be a bit more casual than in past. Menu is more like the pub menu but food still great and good service too.
I was a little disappointed in my experience at this restaurant. We ordered corn bread which was more the consistency of cake, and were not asked why neither serves were eaten. And the bombe Alaska for dessert was very lacklustre and the biscuit (rather than cake) as base was rock hard and almost inedible. Thanks goodness the service was good.
I ordered the 500gram rib eye steak. Half of the steak was thick fat. The steak was not presented well with the salad covering the extent of fat left on the steak. Too much mustard sauce covering the steak that made eating the steak mushy. Very unhappy with the meal overall. The staff serving the drinks were very good.
This hotel provides upmarket cuisine at an upmarket price. Slightly overpriced but good for a group of adults. One of the waiting staff was very good. Definitely not family friendly if minors accompany you. A great drinks list is provided but a small serve of Chardonnay in a large glass at $14 a hit is over the top. Pleasant, period decor is worth a look but don't overstay!
A wonderful dinner, with beautiful food and friendly service. Special mention to Taylah who took great care in offering options for my wife’s nut allergy. We had the soup, terrine and shared the duck, and everything was fantastic!
Food choices not great...what we had was tasty and fresh, expensive for what it is. Service superb and venue same tho...
Was recommended to eat at the Healesville Hotel by a work collegue, so decided to have a celebratory wedding anniversary lunch there. We loved eveything about our lunch, the food and wine menus, the service, the ambience etc..., so we decided to share our find with friends for a Saturday night get together a few weeks later. We were not disappointed and they were most impressed; we’ll all be back again.
Wonderful atmosphere. Great food. Excellent knowledgeable service.
It was okay but food doesn’t match the reputation. Hamburger was very ordinary. Staff were nice.
Service, ambiance, menu selection great atmosphere.
Love they constantly change their menu & they use local produce .
Of my favourite dining pleasures.
A relaxed atmosphere and seemingly simple menu, but executed with great skill and understanding. Great for informal or occasion dinners.
We had some local vegetables with a wonderfully airy Pyengana Cheddar dip, very delicious. Then I had a burger, and although this may seem an easy option, this was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, up there with the best burger only restaurants, a true statement on what and how a burger should be. Fully sated and impressed
the service and courtesy of staff was excellent, knowledge of wines available very good, quality of food and cooking was excellent
Great food and outstanding service by a young gentleman. I had the field mushroom dish and my partner had the smoked trout. Both were delicious! The cocktails are well made and different! Loved it. Will be back!
A pleasant historic icon with many original features. A good menu and stellar wine list at reasonable prices. The service is attentive without being pretentious. The martinis were well made, and it is nice to find a country hotel with a really good sherry on the wine list. The pork belly cassoulet was OK, though thought should be given to replacing the pork belly with duck - a bit less fatty. The pear and almond dessert was delicious. Well worth the visit.
Was Sunday Roast. Food restricted to beef or pork roast. No other options for the kids caused some unhappiness. Each roast was good, but not great and expensive so poor value. It is a great building and location.
Great value restaurant, good food, wine and beer. Service was good and we will be back again.
Gnocchi stodgy; corn puree with steak like sickly sweet baby food; overpowering cheese taste in Bombe Alaska a strange choice. Wait-person misheard my steak order as 'medium' despite us both repeating 'medium rare' multiple times. Also brought us room-temperature tap water when we asked for sparkling. To be honest, kind of disappointing. Wine was good.
Olivia our waitress made our experience from just good food to a great dining experience. Food was excellent for the price too.
One thing though, the vibe was a bit off, for such good looking pub, we had expected there to be live music, and lively people, instead lots of old, snobby looking folks and not enough atmosphere.
Unfortunately our experience did not measure up to our hopes and expectations on our visit.... The waitress did express a concern it seemed on wait time for a steak ordered medium which we agreed was fine as we were happy to chat and enjoy our drinks while waiting...however the steak dish ordered although taking the extra required time came out rare in most parts anyhow so was not enjoyable to eat. It lacked flavour and was tough to chew... As it was a sharing dish we decided to concentrate on the extra vegetables we ordered ( luckily) and ask for the remains to be packed for our dog....However, the vegetables( broccoli and potato) were enjoyed by all of us on this night as they were full of flavour and great texture...
Amazing dining room, with a very cosy feel. Meals were seasonal and clearly well thought out and the service was outstanding.
Catered amazingly well for my food intolerances. Was a very tasty dish and they had a great gin selection
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch yesterday & will return.
Great atmosphere, where super friendly and helpful with the menu. Great knowledge of the food and drinks on hand. Food was delicious. The trout was out of this world. Soft and succulent. Pork belly wasn't overly cooked as per menu description, needed to be crispy as it was very fatty. The desserts were amazing, had the special. Truley a lovely experience.
Fantastic been 4 times now always great , service waiters & waitresses great at there job very professional & polite enjoy the food & ambiance
Excellent service and a lovely meal. Will be back , for sure.
Terrible inedible food. Gnocchi that seemed to be reheated, was served as 2 large chunks with a pumpkin puree that resembled vaby food. A burger so salty it was terrible. Did not dare try dessert. Sides were quite good. Sommelier knowledgeable & helpful. Our waitress good but other staff very rude. Do not recommend. Way too expensive for the quality of the food.
