   Headlam Hall is a fantastic place. The family visit regularly, for different occasions: This time is was for a pre- Mothers Day lunch. The lunch menu is not extensive but is carefully prepared and very tasty. Prices are camparable with good gastro pubs. Although we were told they were fully booked and extremely busy that day, the library where we were seated was very quiet, throughout the duration of our visit, with only one other table occupied. We had originally been told we must vacate the table after 1.5 hours but, once we were seated, there didn't seem to be any haste for us to depart. The ambience is calm and tranquil, and the service attentive and polite. We will certainly be returning.

   The food was well balanced in flavour. The perfect portion, not too big but enough. We tried the ox cheek and it was just in time before their menus changed. We dined in the library room which had a very calm aesthetic The service 10/10 I will be returning for sure

   Lovely setting , good service , good good but it would have been nice to have a vegetarian main other than a sharing platter

   Amazing place, food and staff. A very friendly welcome and we immediately felt relaxed, enabling us to enjoy the fabulous surroundings before going into the dining room.. The different members of staff worked like clockwork, very attentive and the service was excellent. Food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Everything was tasty, hit and very good quality. In addition the wine was very good quality as were the coffee and desserts. All in all we are glad we visited and will certainly recommend and will visit again soon.

   Exceptional food as always and fantastic, friendly service. Particularly welcoming for the dogs. A real treat.

    Starters were good but the risotto accompanying the chicken was slightly gritty and underseasoned. I did not complain as I was there for a friend's birthday.
