Hazellewood Grill & Taproom
Nico is amazing! He knew my salad was to be made gluten free- he noticed the cook put the tortilla strips (not gf) on the salad and made them make me a new one. Will definitely come back!
Great food and service.we had a party of 7 with two little kids and had a very nice evening.
They've changed the menu and the food was HORRIBLE! We've been there many, many times in the past but I'd really resist returning.
Great food anytime, but we especially love their Sunday brunch!
Iwould have rated higher but please keep reading. My sister is gluten sensitive and we went online to look at the menu first. The online menu stated they had GFO for their pancake and French toast. She was excited. We arrive and look at the menus. The physical menus did not say GFO options for the pancakes or French toast. We asked the waitress abid she dismissed us and didn't know about the online menu.
Love that rest
Food was great. So glad we booked with Open Table. Our wait would have been quite long if we hadn’t. Busy, great place.
The ambiance is usually a 4. However, I rated it a 2 this time due to an apparent broken cooking fan in the kitchen which meant that there was heavy smoke all over the restaurant!! We almost left but they FINALLY opened some doors and got a fan going somewhere. It then got better but it really made an impression---all my clothes had to be aired out and my hair had to be washed!
Everything was great except that the kitchen vent Hood was not working properly and filled the dining and bar area with cooking fumes.
Took long time for food to arrive ordered medium rare got rare and tough Pime rib. Walleye Pecan was over cooked (Burnt seared). Had same meal last year on anniversary and was Great. Food was poor.
The service and food was wonderful. We went on a Saturday night and it was really loud and extremely busy. It was hard to carry on a conversation due to the noise. Overall very nice staff and excellent food. We’ll be back.
Great neighborhood place, as well as a “destination” to the Excelsior area. Service always good, be sure to get the popovers!
Our evening was wonderful until I got notified by open table that I didn’t check in, but I did. We had an amazing meal as always. It was very busy at the hostess stand. I will make sure in the future that I verify that I get checked in as I lost 100 points tonight.
First time @ this place and was pleasantly surprised. We were seated in the bar but it was not too loud for conversation. The service was on time and pleasant. Food was well liked by all at the table. We had the Minute chicken, salmon power bowl, scallops & blackened salmon. Ambiance is perfect. Not too stuffy but still nicer than a pub. Would stop in again. Recommend reservations.
We enjoyed our belated Valentines dinner very much. The food (pork chops and walleye tacos) and the service were excellent ~ as usual! Hazellewood is one of our favorite restaurants.
My wife's dinner was fine. I ordered the 18 ounce ribeye ($45) off the "special" V-Day menu. When I received the ribeye it was bone-in although this was not mentioned on the menu. So the rib eye is now about 12 ounces or less. The goudagratins were cold so the waitron said she would replace them. Someone else brought the replacement but they were mashed potatoes instead of the goudagratins. When the waitron finally came back, I expressed my concern and asked how difficult it was to get the correct potatoes that were hot. She became upset. Said something about being a human being and stormed off. Finally got the correct potatoes which were very good. Will not be going back.
Great food. Pleasant service. Nice portions.
Hazellewood has always been a great place, however for a Valentines date it was a bit noisy. Not that it was bad, just tough to talk without being loud myself. Food was great and servers were very nice!
We got to Hazelwood to celebrate our family birthdays. I had the pot pie and my husband had the prime rib and both were awesome! The service was great and the staff was accommodating to our 4 year old and 2 year old.
Delicious brunch! It was a great place for a cozy, comfortable, and tasty brunch with family and friends. The complimentary popovers are FABULOUS and their bloody mary's are wonderful as well.
My wife had the tuna poke bowl which was fresh and delicious. I ordered the Seabass but ended up in error getting the pecan crusted walleye, which would have been my second choice, it was fantastic and they adjusted the price accordingly. Also poured us a liberal glass of wine with our dinner to compensate
The food and service were amazing. The only disappointment was that our table was right next to the main door and a wall of windows. A couple of us wore our coats through the meal.
The salmon was fantastic!
First time trying their breakfast menu - the burrito was delicious. Hazzellewood never disappoints- great neighborhood restaurant!
Great service, fabulous food as always. Tried the Szechuan green bean appetizer for the first and they, alone, make it worth another trip back.
One of our favorite date night restaurants!
Food is always delicious and hot! Arrives in a timely manner.. employee's are always so friendly..
Food was pretty good, but a couple of misses that made me hold back my rating. 1. popovers (suggested by server) were mediocre - was expecting something much more memorable. They were barely warm and not as light and buttery as they should be. I’m used to pulling them open and watching the steam escape, no steam here. French toast on kids menu came with one small piece of bread and a sausage link. My daughter left saying she was hungry. Gouda cheese hashbrowns were awesome, as was veggie omelet. Will return, but won’t order popovers.
We ordered breakfast that was just ok. French toast had good flavor but was a little mushy. Bacon was way too well done but they did fix it. Took a third attempt but was fine. Not sure We’ll go back for breakfast but love their dinner!
Always a good experience with good food and service. My only constructive criticism is that they stop
putting salmon( advertised as "fresh fish') in their jambalaya. It overpowers the dish.
The food was great and our waiter was excellent! The birthday ice cream with chocolate came in a popover which was very delicious.
Our server was excellent and the food was great! Acoustics left a little to be desired but that may have been due to a screaming child seated by us and the Vikings game being watched in the bar.
Food was good and service was excellent. Menu has changed since our last time here. Most notably the donut french toast is no longer on the menu. My wife was disappointed. The huevos rancheros were good. I recommend guac on the side.
We made reservations for 7:00 PM. We showed up at 6:45. By 7:25 we asked about the remaining wait time. We found out the gave our table to someone else. No apology was given. Then they tried to stick us on a high top table in the bar area. We had enough and left. We had a lovely meal at Maynard’s and they gave us great service. We won’t go back.
Always good experience
Great place for brunch. We got lucky and it wasn't very busy Saturday around 11ish.
Love, love, love Hazellewood! The staff is super, great comfy ambiance, and the food is always good-consistently good! It’s my go-to restaurant! And the mimosa was excellent, too! Great way to start the Roaring 20s!!!
Great food and service close to the Lakes area! The minute chicken is my favorite.
Service was great, food was spot on! Hazellewood is a great go to for a great meal, with many selections to choose from.
Great waitress (Danielle). Comfort food. Very casual. Enjoyed our meal.
The brunch was very good. Service was VERY fast and I liked that I had more gluten free options too.
