We went to Hazel Hill to celebrate my hubby’s birthday. We had a phenomenal meal coupled with extraordinary service!!!
The service at Hazel Hill is outstanding. This was my second time dining there this month. I think the food could be much better. While the hamburger looked delicious from afar, I found my burger to be rather dry and on a very dry bun. The French fries were great but I only has a few. My daughter had the eggs Benedict which was better. If it wasn’t for the exceptional service from Brin and Zachery I wouldn’t recommend this place for food. The ambiance is beautiful and worth the experience.
Great restaurant decor both inside and outside terrace overlooking vineyards. Montage just has everything well appointed.
Everything about this restaurant leads you to believe that you are going to have an amazing dinning experience - then the food comes out - Wow! - then you taste it. Oh no. Nothing about the food at this restaurant is something I would rave about. For appetizers we had a special fish done sashimi style. It was fishy and unattractive. Definitely not Nobu, or what you would expect from such a dish. The Hazel hill salad tasted more like just a bed of lettuce with no dressing, then something you would expect to find from such an establishment. The chilled corn soup was good, but it was exactly that - chilled corn soup with a healthy portion of cream in it. Again, nothing special. For main courses, we had the Wagyu loin. The steak itself was a quality piece of meat however lacked seasoning and that mouthwatering appeal you would expect from such a cut. And the sause they served with it, if used (it was over salty and overall terrible), pretty much would have ruined the entire dish - good thing they put in far enough on this side. The pasta with fresh shaved truffles was a treat, but lets face it - hard to mess up that dish. Although, the pasta by itself was WAY to rich and really didn't need to be considering that truffles were going to be added. And for a pasta dish with so much truffle spread over the top, they could have provided a more sizable portion. Lots of truffle + very little heavy cream and rich pasta = and unbalanced dish. I get it though - it looked impressive when the plate was covered in black truffle - but that was about it......................... Notwithstanding the food, every other component of the experience was really great! The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was sophisticated and elegant, and our service staff (including the chef that actually came to the table and and did the truffle shaving), were the best! It was our waiters first "night" shift, and he was really good. I recommend everything - just not the food!
Staff is great! Food is mediocre. Need to get more daring with the food. Such a beautiful property though.
Amazing staff !
Lunch menu was limited. Out of some selections. Food was OK but not spectacular for the price - nor the presentation. For example, chilled large sparking water bottles were placed on the table and not in an ice bucket. Tap water was poured into tiny glasses - no water container for refills on the table. Service was friendly and willing. Need to up their game to compete for high-end status.
My wife and I sat outdoors for a lunch date.
Cocktails and wine selection were great.
We started with burrata, which was excellent.
Mussels for me and burger for my wife. Burger was perfect. The mussels were perfect, although the dish as a whole could be improved with this minor change: serve a little bread so you can sop up the delicious broth.
The restaurant opened only recently and there were a few tiny hiccups in the service but otherwise this was a great experience. Add in the view and ambiance and this is a "must go" in Healdsburg.
The restaurant is magical and the food was amazing. One of those meals you remember forever as very decadent and special.
Service and staff were perfect!
If you can get in, go there. You will not be disappointed.
We love Hazel Hill at Montage! What a gem in our wine country!
Montage is a beautiful property! The food was amazing and our server was excellent.
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
Excellent food and service. Atmosphere is outstanding.
Beautiful spot, especially outdoors on a nice day.
Easy vibe. Excellent service. Fair portions. Would recommend to a friend.
Had an amazing experience celebrating my moms bday ! Food was great, Jason skills describing dishes makes you feel like eating all the menu, our food was delicious and very beautifully presented.
We ordered duck breast , which was perfectly cooked and very tasty. I had chitarra and also ordered the eggplant, both of them were very good as well.
Had chocolate crunch bar as dessert, beautiful and delish.
Can only thank them for an amazing dinner to celebrate my moms life
Great dishes but both dishes were completely over salted.
Awesome for a special occasion. Beautiful setting. Highly recommended.
Marco is the best!!!! Great food and service always!!! See you soon!!
Raw peaches but food otherwise good. Tiny portions
I really wanted to love this place. After all, its the new baller hangout in Healdsburg, if not all of Sonoma. Experience started off poor when I called a week in advance to request the wine list. Receptionist said "no problem, I'll have my manager send it over via email". I like to peruse the list prior to arrival incase I want a bottle or two decanted for air hours in advance. Three days later no email. Called back and left a vm as a follow up. Not until the day of the reservation I called back at Noon and the receptionist said her manager "was too busy" to email the wine list. What?? Totally unacceptable, bad customer service. The table of 4 (us)...we were willing to spend thousands on wine that night for a special occasion. Missed opportunity by the restaurant since there is good margin to be made from alcohol sales. Oh well, we brought our own. Btw, $40 corkage fee, no more than 2 bottles per party. Our waitress Caille was awesome, knowledgeable and super attentive. Menu is rather limited to one fish item, one pork, one duck, one chicken, etc. This is not Single Thread by any means, no Michelin star food here. However, food was prepared well, but over-priced IMHO. Halibut was overcooked by a couple minutes but rest of our dishes were very good to excellent. We even had a pasta starter with shaved Australian truffles. Not a big dish and no idea one can get truffles flown in from Australia. Cheaper to source? Not sure. Cocktails were great, not cheap at about $20 a pop. Wine list was super disappointing. For a resort of this caliber I expected more depth and breadth in their wine list. And maybe they are slowly building up the cellar but it was VERY LIMITED in Old World wines, something I always lean towards. I live local so I can get all the Napa and Sonoma wines I want. Outdoor setting was 5 stars overlooking their new vineyard and pool. But for 4 people and no wine bottles purchased other than cocktails, total bill $750+$150 tip=$900. Bar only next time!
A beautiful spot, secluded, gorgeous architecture, not pretentious, very relaxing, great food and our server was friendly and personable, very attentive. Highly recommend! Valet parking only. Grounds are stunning.
Food and service were outstanding. Beautiful restaurant with indoor and outdoor service.
Had a nice outdoor lunch here in this beautiful resort. The service was outstanding. Two us split a salad and a burger, both of which were delicious. We would love to have come back for dinner since the restaurant was beautiful and the food and service were both wonderful.
Went for Brunch. Worth every penny. You must try the Lobster Tartine; it's avocado toast on steroids!
Great people, great food, great setting.
Upon entering you walk past an amazing open kitchen which is surprising considering how incredibly limited the lunch menu is and what they serve is not that impressive. I had the only salad on the menu and it was just ok. Considering the cost it should have been amazing. While the staff was friendly they were not attentive at all and on the day we were there they did not appear to be full.
When making a reservation there were no options on inside/outside etc. so when we arrived we chose outside. We asked about tables with a view that were empty and we were told those are reserved already. Our lunch lasted about 1 hour and no one sat at those tables the entire time we were there. Why they weren’t available for us is unknown.
The setting is magnificent, hotel lobby, bar and restaurant are beautiful but that’s it. This is my third time there hoping the food choices and quality would improve but sadly it hasn’t.
There are far better restaurants in the area and they charge less.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had in one of the prettiest settings .
Amazing! The view and the food are exceptionally beautiful! Marc and Gabby were friendly and a pleasure to have as servers. It is a great dining experience. Worth the price.
Excellent quiet, fine dining spot for our group of 3. The bar next door where we had pre-dinner drinks was slow with service. The dinner service by all the attendants that came to our table was a bit spotty, but I attribute that to most places just getting their bearings with their post-pandemic reopenings. All our courses were well executed and delicious. Nice to fine dine again and to splurge.
So elegant and delicious!
The staff at Hazel Hill made my birthday simply perfection. Kind, attentive and they even gave a little birthday sign made of chocolate. It was all amazing. And the patio view, with fireplace just can’t be beat! I can’t wait to come back!
4th of July outing
Very very expensive but worth the overall experience
Fabulous fabulous fabulous!!!
A wonderful, modern resort-based restaurant in a secluded setting on the northern edge of Healdsburg in the heart of Sonoma Wine Country. While prices are expensive the dining experience is certainly worth the splurge. Excellent, friendly service with well-prepared food from a small but nicely varied menu. The wine list is pricey but well-curated. The setting is complimented by the open, sleek architecture of the main resort building.
We will definitely return for another perfect wine country evening.
The food was delicious and the outdoor setting was picturesque. The food was a bit pricey, but we were aware of that prior to booking the reservation and thankfully the portion size was sufficient so we didn't leave hungry.
