Service was excellent and the food was delicious. The cold cucumber soup was perfect for summer and the grouper was a good pick for sure. Would definitely return.
Disappointed with the quantity of the shrimp(4) and grits for the price. The doughnut appetizer was delicious
My husband and I have tried several restaurants in downtown Charlotte recently. The Haymaker is our favorite thus far. We both really enjoy creative small plates and the Haymaker has a number of great choices. Our favorite dish was the mushroom toast but the other small plates (shrimp and grits, lettuce salad, and Mac and cheese) were also excellent.
Everything about the restaurant was nice but the food was lacking. I ordered a steak rare and it came medium well so I asked for another and it was the same. The rest of our group wasn’t thrilled but enjoyed their meals ok
good food and great atmosphere downstairs. We were seated upstairs which I do not recommend
A great addition to Charlotte's restaurant scene! Tasty flavors, delicious drinks, creative presentations, friendly and helpful servers, cool vibe.
fabulous! We had a great anniversary dinner here and would highly recommend Haymaker to all our friends who love to eat out for occassions or just fun. The food was really great and you could taste the care that went to the ingredients and prep. really good.
We went to celebrate a birthday. There were four of us and we ordered 4 appetizers and two drinks each and the bill was over $170. I eat out all the time and this bill seemed very high. Other than that, the ambiance, food and staff were all great.
Excellent all around. Will be back
This is a lovely restaurant! It’s location to the Knights baseball field made this a great place to have dinner before watching the 4th of July fireworks. The menu is small but does offer quite a range from small plates to sizeable entrees. Wait staff was accommodation without over hovering. However, the restaurant was a little warm. I understand maybe the a/c wasn’t holding up but it’s not the best thing to see a host or hostess sweating profusely when you enter a restaurant. It wasn’t unpleasant but could have been cooler.
I ordered the grouper and my date ordered the quail. Both were very good and hearty portions. They also came out beautifully presented. I didn’t take a photo of my date’s dish but he ate everything on his plate as did I. We also ordered some wheat bread that was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant and will visit again.
The only thing missing was a gluten free dessert for the birthday girl!
Always fantastic. If it's available, ask for the Chef's Table in the back.
Fun food, great service! Loved the fried green tomato sandwich & lamb dishes. Efficient, attentive service. We’ll be back!
The pork belly appetizer was outstanding. Loved the hush puppies. Had the grouper as our main dish. All were excellently prepared.
Enjoyed our dinner immensely. Loved the interesting menu and the energy and atmosphere of the venue! Plus food was delicious! Server was excellent!! Highly recommend giving it a try!
Comfortable vibe. Delicious food!
Great drinks, decent food.
Our waitress was pretty out of it. Trying to clear food and drinks before we were done with them. We all felt like she just wanted us to leave and our reservation was at 7pm. We went down to the bar after dinner and the bartender said they were closed. It was 955pm. There were at least 4 tables still downstairs.
Had such a wonderful date night here. The food was great and the portions were generous
Food just seemed okay.
Cool place and our waiter did an awesome job with our large group!
Love their brunch!
Finally Charlotte has creative and exciting food. Having lived in Asheville for a year moving to Charlotte was a huge disappointment in creative food. We had so much food tonight and so many wonderful dishes. Our favs: picked veggies, ahi chips, mushroom toast, beets, pork belly and shrimp. Dessert took it to a whole other level
We had a tremendous dinner here, the food was excellent, thoughtfully prepared and presented. The cocktail menu was great and we loved our dessert too. Will definitely come back.
We love William Dissen's Market Place in Asheville and couldn't wait to try his new Charlotte Uptown outpost. It was great in every way. Creative food, great service, and a hip vibe. We loved eating at the kitchen bar! Highly recommended!
Awesome experience! Jamie was an excellent server and gave great recommendations! Ambiance was wonderful! Managers super attentive. Will definitely return!
First time here. Definitely coming back. Great staff , food and bar.
Excellent service, cool decor and small but original menu. Especially loved the mushroom toast and grilled steak ... oh and the grilled shrimp. Yum.
Haymaker has a light, modern, open feel and an interesting menu. Our group had some food allergy issues and they were accommodated. Our server, Greg, was great ! I will go back to Haymaker😊
Really great service! Took my Nana for brunch(she’s picky) and we had a blast. Also had double mimosas which was a plus in my book🥂👌🏽will be back no doubt
This is my second time to Haymaker and it's still amazing as ever! The best small plate I think is the roasted beets -- or if you don't like beets the hush puppies are huge! I could just eat the wild grouper on its own, it was that good and perfectly cooked...the service was amazing and the staff was attentive on a busy Saturday night!
Stellar execution of dishes, flavorful, public food friendly yet creative and made tasty. Server was stellar, especially since one party member is a lil...
The bartender and bar area were great.
The waitress was terrible. She kept
Her eye contact on another table while she talked to us and seemed annoyed we were there.
The grouper was delicious and melted in your mouth.
The pork belly was good.
The Mac and Cheese was terrible.
Weird set up upstairs and ambiance was just ok.
Go for the bar and what I hear the hush puppies and call it a day.
The best hush puppies and shrimp & grits I have ever eaten!! Service was great. Excellent wine list. The general manager is a level three sommelier and was happy to help with selections.
They also have some great cocktails. Great food and reasonably priced with a great view of Romare Beardon Park.
Definitely recommend this spot.
Authentic and creative. Fabulous fish entrees. Quail not a fav.....too bony w/very little meat. Attentive wait staff who truly care!
We came to Haymaker for brunch. The meal started out strong with great mimosas, homemade donut holes and a delicious parfait. Our server was amazing, she was super personable and attentive without being overbearing. Our breakfast however left something to be desired. It was super bland and honestly kind of gross. I would definitely come back for drinks, but I wouldn’t eat here again.
We always like to check out newly opened restaurants and we're glad that we did. The food was interesting and delicious. I started with the beets which were cooked perfectly and flavorful. My entrée was the trout. It was perfectly prepared to the point where I would order it again. My wife has the dumplings and she loved them. They were more like gnocci. The wine was good too but what made the dinner was our server Jennifer. She was knowledgeable, timely, and great at conversation. This restaurant was such a pleasant surprise that I can't wait to go back.
I first went to this restaurant when they first opened and it was great, went back for a second time yesterday and it was a completely different experience. I ordered the lamb shoulder for two the first time there and loved it, so I order it again this second time around and it was horrible. The lamb shoulder came out and over 50% of it was fat, I speak to the manager and they bring me a new one out. I didn't eat it there and upon getting home, thinking I would eat it for lunch today, this one was 65% fat and most of it ended up in the trash. I basically paid $65.00 for carrots and potatoes, because the lamb was not edible due to the amount of fat on both cuts that I received. I would like to give them another try to change my mind, but at the prices for the food there, it should be better cuts of meat with less fat. Simply put, I have to cook today instead of eating what I thought would be a good meal today.
We enjoyed Haymaker. The menu has just enough variety without having a book to read. The food was amazing and served beautifully. Our waiter was excellent and once we were done he never rushed us. My only complaint was the noice level grew as the place filled up. I truly wish restaurants considered noice level more. Conversation is part of the experience. Luckily we left before it was too crowded.
Food was great and service was excellent. It is a cool space but the noise made it hard to enjoy conversation - which for us is as important as the food.
