Haymaker Bar & Kitchen
Outstanding beer selection. The “small plates” were actually large portions. Food was delicious.
Not great and we waited an age for our lunch. When it arrived it was average. Not worth the wait. The sodas were flat too.
Our server was pretty grumpy. She sometimes didn't even reply to us. That being said, the food was really great. The wings were crispy, the burger delicious, and the fries were crispy AND fluffy. The draft list was extensive and organized by style, which I liked. It was wicked crowded and we had to maneuver around people. The food and beer was worth it.
Haymaker Bar & Kitchen is loud and wall to wall people. We made our reservation for 3 was placed all the way in the back with barely enough room for two, let alone 3 of which two were tall women. We asked to be seated at a 4 top, but was told they were all reserved-- no one was seated for the two hours we sat crammed into our little section. Asked for the dessert menu and was told they didn't have dessert. Not a place for business meetings or catch ups-- drinking and shouting only. Great for happy hour. I took off stars because of the obscene noise level, they didn't have dessert and the lousy seating--
We really enjoyed our drinks and dinner. We were there early and the bar tender took our first drink order and then we didn't see her again and asked the waiter in our section and he took over our table and felt so bad that he had not attended to us and he was very attentive the rest of the time we were there.
Food was very good but the dinner menu is limited. Service was timely and the drinks were well made. I had the hanger steak and my wife the chicken. Both had excellent flavor and well prepared.
The bar was very noisy. Our party had asked if we could be moved to a quieter area and at first request we were told that nothing was available. On a second request we were jammed into a a small table in the back room. We asked for the larger table and once again the hostess denied our request. We should have left. The larger more comfortable table never got seated. In fact by the end of our meal we were the only people on the back room laughing at ourselves crunched into a corner. There was no reason to be treated so poorly.
The menu is limited but the location was perfect.
Tight seating. Music was a low good volume. But hard to have a conversation with people sitting too close to us. Service was good and attentive.
It was very crowded as you'd expect during happy hour. Preblem was they were having a "beer event" so only had 1 beer choice as part of happy hour - rather odd. The burger was good, as was the beer. Tables are cramped. I'd go back off hours.
Stopped in for food and beer before a Rangers game. The burgers were excellent and there was a really nice selection of beer. This was a really nice find in the MSG/Penn Station area.
We enjoyed our meal. We got there at the tail end of the football watching crowd so it was a little noisy. Service and meal was excellent. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.
Casual dinner with Co workers.
We loved that they had a vegan menu especially for NYE! also the craft beer selection is FANTASTIC!
Ordered drinks. Wanted to get food but the waiter never came back to take our food order.
Phish! Everything was very good.
Pre concert dinner
Nice quiet night before the game at Haymaker. Great draft beer selection and food, great service. Best place of its kind near Penn Station and MSG .
Hopped in for an early dinner before the Rangers game - everything was tasty and came out promptly. Tables are small / space is limited, but overall would recommend!
Great vibes, great drink selection, yummy food! Always a fun time!
Wonderful place! Food was Amazing!!
Great experience overall. Friendly staff, great service, and delicious beers. What's not to love.
Haymaker was fine. Good Hot Nashville Chicken bowl and Hamburger, but the place is loud and the menu is limited. Good drink options. Overall, just ok.
Very good food and service. Good selection for vegetarian
The perfect spot for dinner before a show at The Garden. A compact but excellent menu, complemented by delightful cocktails and an extensive beer and wine selection. Service was friendly and well paced.
All good. Nice place.
The food was great! It is such a cute place and I would definitely go again. The only issue I found was that they had one server. Only one. So, if you needed something, he was busy helping the 25 other tables. Which, is understandable, he can't be in twenty five places at once.
One of my favorite beer bars in Manhattan. With decent food, on top of it, and great service.
Great venue for pre-MSG dinner. Back room much quieter than front room if you want quieter. chicken wings, burrata and burger was very good.
Husband and I have had dinner and/or drinks at Haymaker a bunch of times, and every time we can’t get over how great the food and service is. I came across Haymaker when I was trapped in NYC because of train delays and have kept returning ever since. My family even hosted my post NYC marathon meal there - it is that good. The most recent dinner we had was great. We could not get over how good the popcorn hot chicken was. Waitstaff is always friendly and attentive. Feels like home. :)
I have already recommended it to friends. Amazing beer selection and amazing food. Really close to Penn station so it's a great date night place even for people who don't live in the city.
Great food and drinks!! Very very noisy.
Great bar, food and atmosphere. They didn’t have wine listed by the bottle only by the glass they did manage to do a bottle for us however. The chicken wings and plantain were our fav dishes!
There appeared to be only 2 servers and the place was packed on a Wednesday night. When we repeatedly had to flag down our server she started to throw major attitude. Please address staffing levels and customer service and we’d happily come back!
Start with the good: the space is lively and well appointed - we were excited to be there once we walked in. We were seated right away. Drink menu was fun and tasted good. We had the liver mousse which was fantastic. We had a flat bread which also was good. The entrees were average and there were only 5 choices. The stuffed chicken was a bit bland, but the stuffing was good. The Nashville hot pops were horrid- they were dry and then overly spicy. I like spicy food - not “Midwest spicy”, but honestly spicy food. This was spicy to the point of unappealing- like one of those restaurants the tell you if you can eat this we will give you a free t-shirt kind of spice. 3 of us agreed that it was not good. When the server came by she asked how things were - politely said that we found the dish hard to eat. She picked up the barely touched dish and said “that is what Nashville style means” and then walked away without another word. Did not try to make it right. Did not ask if we would like something else. Did not offer to remove the dish from the bill. We paid and left a marginal tip reflecting the service we received and went someplace else for dessert. I hope they step up their game-it would be sad for such a cute place to fail.
Great beer selection. And the food was really tasty as well. Casual, cool, clean spot to grab a bite and beers with friends.
Food and drinks were OK. We were going to a show at Madison Square Garden and wanted to make an early reservation. Soonest we could get was 6:00 so I told our group of six to come at 5 and maybe they could seat us early. The place was literally empty at 5:00 so they seated us right away, which worked out, but why couldn't they tell me that when I made the reservation? They were pretty emphatic that they had absolutely no availability prior to 6. Which means they either lied to me or it's the policy, which is just stupid. Service was a bit slow (for being so empty) but maybe our server just had all the tables, I didn't really pay attention. I'd try somewhere else before I went back.
The food was decent but our waiter/bartender was terrible. No chance of striking up a convo with him. Looked like he didn’t want to be there.
The burger I ordered was amazing, lots of good beer as well.
All good especially the service
