Haymaker Bar & Kitchen
All good. Nice place.
The food was great! It is such a cute place and I would definitely go again. The only issue I found was that they had one server. Only one. So, if you needed something, he was busy helping the 25 other tables. Which, is understandable, he can't be in twenty five places at once.
One of my favorite beer bars in Manhattan. With decent food, on top of it, and great service.
Great venue for pre-MSG dinner. Back room much quieter than front room if you want quieter. chicken wings, burrata and burger was very good.
Husband and I have had dinner and/or drinks at Haymaker a bunch of times, and every time we can’t get over how great the food and service is. I came across Haymaker when I was trapped in NYC because of train delays and have kept returning ever since. My family even hosted my post NYC marathon meal there - it is that good. The most recent dinner we had was great. We could not get over how good the popcorn hot chicken was. Waitstaff is always friendly and attentive. Feels like home. :)
I have already recommended it to friends. Amazing beer selection and amazing food. Really close to Penn station so it's a great date night place even for people who don't live in the city.
Great food and drinks!! Very very noisy.
Great bar, food and atmosphere. They didn’t have wine listed by the bottle only by the glass they did manage to do a bottle for us however. The chicken wings and plantain were our fav dishes!
There appeared to be only 2 servers and the place was packed on a Wednesday night. When we repeatedly had to flag down our server she started to throw major attitude. Please address staffing levels and customer service and we’d happily come back!
Start with the good: the space is lively and well appointed - we were excited to be there once we walked in. We were seated right away. Drink menu was fun and tasted good. We had the liver mousse which was fantastic. We had a flat bread which also was good. The entrees were average and there were only 5 choices. The stuffed chicken was a bit bland, but the stuffing was good. The Nashville hot pops were horrid- they were dry and then overly spicy. I like spicy food - not “Midwest spicy”, but honestly spicy food. This was spicy to the point of unappealing- like one of those restaurants the tell you if you can eat this we will give you a free t-shirt kind of spice. 3 of us agreed that it was not good. When the server came by she asked how things were - politely said that we found the dish hard to eat. She picked up the barely touched dish and said “that is what Nashville style means” and then walked away without another word. Did not try to make it right. Did not ask if we would like something else. Did not offer to remove the dish from the bill. We paid and left a marginal tip reflecting the service we received and went someplace else for dessert. I hope they step up their game-it would be sad for such a cute place to fail.
Great beer selection. And the food was really tasty as well. Casual, cool, clean spot to grab a bite and beers with friends.
Food and drinks were OK. We were going to a show at Madison Square Garden and wanted to make an early reservation. Soonest we could get was 6:00 so I told our group of six to come at 5 and maybe they could seat us early. The place was literally empty at 5:00 so they seated us right away, which worked out, but why couldn't they tell me that when I made the reservation? They were pretty emphatic that they had absolutely no availability prior to 6. Which means they either lied to me or it's the policy, which is just stupid. Service was a bit slow (for being so empty) but maybe our server just had all the tables, I didn't really pay attention. I'd try somewhere else before I went back.
The food was decent but our waiter/bartender was terrible. No chance of striking up a convo with him. Looked like he didn’t want to be there.
The burger I ordered was amazing, lots of good beer as well.
All good especially the service
Stopped in for lunch with kids on vacation. Food was great. Craft beer list was impressive and I consider myself a New England craft beer snob.
Disappointed with the food all around. They clearly do not have the ingredients - the French toast was toast smeared with Nutella. It was very disappointing. One salty egg for $5 and three bacon strips for $5 bucks. Not happy. This restaurant has so much more potential.
Best place for craft beer near Penn/MSG. Food is excellent quality, service is great. Grab a reservation for a table, you wont regret it.
Great place to go before any event at Madison Square Garden
Our food was forgotten about.
The food was inedible. Sent the first meal back and changed to a different meal that was as inedible. My guest’s meal was the same but he fought through it.
Temperature of the food was mediocre.
Good vibe. Decent pricing for NY.
Great beer selection , food is also very good and there are some delicious options on the menu . Can get very busy , so it’s best to get a reservation . Good friendly service too!
The six of us Enjoyed the pre-show dinner. Our server was awesome. Great beer!!!
Beer list amazing. Food was terrible. Even run of the mill midtown pubs and bars have better bar food than this place. Very disappointing.
We really enjoyed our experience at Haymaker. The space was comforting and inviting, the service was top notch and the food was very good. Our only issue was that none of the sandwiches came with any sort of side. It's not often you can get a burger or something along those lines and not have some sort of french fry, chip, or side offered. At the prices they charged, that was slightly disappointing.
That said, we would surely go back. This is the only place in the vicinity of Madison Square Garden that has such a thoughtful beer list and is putting out really delicious and creative pub fare to match.
pre phish sip of sunshine = the bomb. some of the best taps and bottles in town!
There were 6 of us they were very accommodating at a very busy time. The food was really good & the beer selection was amazing!!! I’ll definitely be going back.
Incredible beer list. Good food. Knowledgeable staff. Fills a huge void in the Penn Station area. Used to feel like a secret - now make a reservation or prepare for the crowd prior to a show.
Was sat down with no menus. Was waiting for the hostess , who then took a group who walked in behind us . The person who brought our food did not which wings had seasoning or not.
This neighborhood has always been a wasteland for restaurants. This is a great, casual place with wonderful food and a stellar beer list. They also make terrific cocktails. It's my go-to spot whenever I'm near Madison Square Garden / Penn Station.
Great service. We had a group of 8. Waitress and support team were excellent. Food was fine - tasted good but hard to poorly prepare burgers, salads and chicken sandwiches. Normally a nice beer selection but happened to be out of some brews, chalking it up to the Thanksgiving, when normal delivery schedules are interrupted.
It was not a pleasure being there. When we arrived at our 8:30 pm reservations, the place was very quiet , perhaps a third full of patrons. We were seated at a table beneath the tv screen and asked if we could have another one instead. We were offered a room in the back or another one for an other hour only as the tables were all reserved for 9:30 pm. Well, the waitress was happily fake towards us. Service was ok but nothing more.
It certainly was memorable, but not for the food or ambience.
I would avoid.
Very good food and impressive beer list - great spot to stop before/after a show @ MSG
Great pre-MSG venue. Service attentive and aware of getting you out in time for event. Burger was fantastic! Great selection of craft beer, perfect for IPA drinkers like me!
Way too loud.
Beer Menu is interesting, hard to read very dim lighting. Coloring on menu blended together. No order with beers just a list, not broken up by style.
Service was ok, never ask hows the meal for either course. It almost seemed they were short staff. 1 takibg order, multiple people delivering food and drink. No real repour with anyone.
Atmosphere.. were nice just to dark, hard to read menus. People using phone lights because they can't read menu.
Bathrooms, very clean.
Need more options for kids
Very limited menu 1 person worked the bar and took care of the floor. The service was wonderful management should give this young lady a raise. All in all disappointing experience lunch was expensive wont be going back
Great beer selection
Best fried chicken sandwich I ever had
Did i mention this place can be LOUD?
