Hawthorn Grill Ratings and Reviews
I took my BFF's mom here for Sunday Brunch. It was amazing. She keeps a mainly paleo diet and there were plenty of options available for her. I loved that I was able to eat from the buffet and get pancakes and waffles to order. It was so quiet when we went, and we had a lovely view of the water. The staff was attentive and quickly brought us anything / everything we needed. I can't wait to come back with friends!
We were regulars at Carmel Rm, and couldn't wait to try the new Hawthorn Grill. It's wonderful! The views, food, live music in bar (Friday's) & great service. Dh & I started with the best Carpaccio we've had in a long time...and lots to "share". Decided on scallops for dinner & they did not disappoint. Sweet, nice crust on top and the corn/spinach side complemented the scallops. Thanks to our server Lee (and cannot forget Terry who still ushers you to your table) our evening was exceptionally special. We will be back soon....maybe to sit outside (gorgeous views).
It seems that the Hawthorn Grill is either hit or missed. 1st time there the salmon was too well done and dried out. 2nd time there everything was delicious including the veal chop I had. 3rd time veal chop was too choey or slightly tough. Brussel sprouts were over cooked and very dried out and hard but the cauliflower was terrific and very tasty. Like stated before it seems to be a hit and miss.
This was one restaurant I wish I never even attempted. The server was really dry and lacked any sort of customer service. I ordered chicken, which was interesting, my boyfriend ordered steak, it was sent back twice and not reordered. The manager was really nice about it, but we left VERY dissatisfied.
I've dined at this restaurant several times and noticed the food is inconsistent. The only reason we choose this restaurant is because of the comp we received from the casino. I guess the restaurant/casino is tightening their belt because the comp options were much less now than when it was the Carmel - bring back the prime rib and ribeye options. If not for the comp, I wouldn't eat at the restaurant - the other hotel restaurants are much better.
We have had breakfast here before but this was our first dinner. The menu is well curated and offers great variety. My husband had the short ribs and I had the lamb. Both were excellent as were our side dishes. We will be making this a regular dinner spot for future trips to Vegas
Went out for dinner on the Saturday evening. The service was really good and all of the waitstaff friendly. The restaurant has a good overall appeal visually and I found the food to be average. There is nothing exceptionally good or bad about dinner itself.
The hawthorn grill was new to us at the JW Marriott. The hostess and wait staff were very friendly and attentive. The waitress especially tended to all of our special requests. The food was good. The offering of Chocolate soufflé was excellent. A grand Marne sauce would have made it even better.
We love the JW and wanted to love our experience at Hawthorn. The service was good and the place looked really nice, especially since they've renovated. However, the food was bland and not worth the high price tag. We had the tuna poke, spinach and artichoke dip, steak, and scallops. All were in need of additional seasoning.
The service was impeccable. The Rampart Casino was a total disappointment. Old and not particularly friendly. However you step into a whole upscale world as you enter the Hawthorn Grill. Skip the casino bars and go directly to the H Grill Bar. The food was delicious, creative and varied.
We went for Sunday brunch buffet, and since this is a J.W. Marriott, we expected the very best. Once we walked into the restaurant, we were excited because it was beautiful! But for some reason, there were only three tables occupied. The three of us were seated, two of us ordered a glass of wine. This is what started it all....."sorry the bar is closed and we only have mimosas or bloody marys." The is an all-time FIRST! Then it went downhill from there. The "buffet" was not a buffet at all, but more of a Hilton Garden Inn type of buffet. We expected the lavish buffet including desserts for the $29.95!!! they were asking. We instead ordered off the menu. Toast doesn't even come with an egg dish! Our waiter was very apologetic and even took off the price of the drinks, so this has no reflection on him at all. JWM could make this a wonderful Sunday brunch buffet if they'd try. The ambiance is great! Waterfalls from every window. A jazz duet playing music. Great potential!! But until we hear of a change, we will not return.
Both the restaurant, service and food exceeded our expectations.....we will definately come back again.....since my husband is a meat and potatoes person, when he ordered the pork chop and mashed potatoes, he wished he would have gotten gravy with it.......atmosphere was terrific, desert was delicious and glad we selected this restaurant to celebrate our 40th anniversary with friends.....
My friend and I enjoyed our meals. The grilled salmon accompanied by "smashed potatoes" and green beans was awesome. We appreciated the range of desserts, from very rich to light. Rupert, our waiter was delightful, knowledgeable, and attentive. It was fun to people watch, but in addition, we had a lovely water feature view. I look forward to a return visit, perhaps for a glass of wine and the delicious wedge salad, with extra thick bacon, under the stars.
I and my party of 3, were very disappointed, it is a pretty restaurant but not happy with the food. I had a Cobb salad, was not like any other Cobb I have ever had. It was made with butter lettuce, ???, it had 3 tiny pieces of hard boiled egg, no bacon, about a tablespoon of corn. I guess they were getting creative with the dressing, but I found it very bitter. My guests were about as happy as I was, how can you mess up a burger?? Needless to say, we will not be back.
Excellent food and very good service. Creative menu and very taste plates. Unusually good for a hotel (J.W.Marriott) restaurant but this is Las Vegas with great hotel restaurants. Recommend the mussels. They came with a superb bacon sauce. The branzino was also excellent. In addition, a very good view of a lovely garden and a cute waterfall. Somewhat on the expensive side but worthwhile.
