Morning breakfast after a wedding. Bride found egg shells in her eggs benedict. And hollandaise was warm not hot. Service was fantastic. My 2 egg breakfast was good. Just warm though.
What a disappointment! Tiny menu and some dishes we
For the price of the dishes, the value was not there.
The space is very, very nice. A lovely place to sit and have a visit. The food was enjoyable and the service great. I have decided to come to dine here once a month this winter so I can enjoy dinning in very elegant surroundings. Because mobility is getting to be difficult for me, I love the added convenience of valet parking.
Waiter was rude and not attentive
Food was nothing special ; expected more
Waitress was very helpful in explaining the family style service and suggesting foods to order. But since we were only two, the portions were unexpectedly enourmous. Delicious, but a huge waste in this time of hungry, homeless people.
Two major menu items missing
We had a great time and it was our first time dining there. Lisa was very nice and friendly. We’re definitely coming back soon and bring our friends and family.
Overall we had a very enjoyable dinner, and though the food took a while we expected this because of Covid staff shortages to which we are very sympathetic. Although it is a question of taste buds, I found the food to be a little salty compared to other restaurant food. I think the restaurant could be improved by work on the accoustics, we could hear the conversations from other tables better than we could hear one another at our table.
Great location for an occasion. and beautiful decor.
We ordered breakfast and my eggs Benedict and potatoes were cold. My wife egg was over cooked like charred. We frequent the Fairmont sand have our wedding at Fairmont Banff in 2 weeks and hope the food is better.
This year I had decided to celebrate my birthday at the gorgeous Hawthorn restaurant with my wife and son. The food was very good. Upon our request, the hostess at Hawthorn agreed to replace beef burger with a chicken burger, even though it was not part of the menu. Chicken burgers were delicious. And my son enjoyed his steak. The ambience was classy. Only one note, please ensure to review your bill, before payment, to check the accuracy as I had found an extra charge for breads that we had not ordered. This was promptly corrected after I brought to my server's attention. Otherwise we had an enjoyable evening.
Note: As I was celebrating my birthday, there was a surprise desert from Hawthorn. This was complimentary and all of us had enjoyed the treat.
It was modern vintage Great Gatsby feel all around. Lots of great vibes, excellent service and exquisite food set in the iconic Palliser hotel right in the core of Calgary!
Ordered chicken sausage. Thought it was an actual meal. Nope. Only 2 sausages. Plates were too small for my burger
The service was very poor, the food was not great and the table was far too small to accommodate 5 people. A special request was made at the time the reservation was made indicating that we were celebrating a milestone birthday - zero acknowledgment. Would not recommend or go back. The Fairmont is no longer a high end experience, which is unfortunate. There were guests being seated that were in pyjama pants in the dining room.
We love it here ! We have been going for anniversary for the past 26 years. Always been amazing service and food
Amazing service and delicious food and cocktails!
Well, alcohol cocktails was perfect. However was not very impressed with food. I consider that Fairmont Hotel and inside restaurant is high end dinning. Its understandable by curtain dinning time they runout of food. we ordered endive salad- poor presentation, mixed 2 kind of cabbage one of them was SO bitter, dressing was good. Steak was served with French fries , honestly I was shocked - on plate cut steak and fries????..... nothing more to present nicely in high end dining place? And for desert was amazing blueberry tea very enjoyed ! however crepe cake again... disappointing. Over all that place I would call high end bar, absolutely huge variety and club/dance music. It would be better experience if they would play blues or light jazz for dining not rap or dance hip-hop. Regarding price - overly overpriced. Service was very good but they don't cook the food. Will I go there again ? probably 95% no.
I booked for a friends birthday dinner/drinks and we requested a little booth for our party of 3 but instead we were sat in the very back by the kitchen doors, smelly bussing station with bottles of cleaner and old rags , and right beside a mother trying to get her baby to sleep…. There were several tables that we asked to move to and were told”no!” rudely and abruptly as they were “fully booked”. We asked again as the table we were given was unacceptable and we were seriously considering leaving and going somewhere else at this point. Who we assume was the manager, came over to our table, and her entire demeanour was that she had been briefed and told we were being difficult and she needed to “put us in our place” and again told us they were “fully booked” but then offered two alternative tables that were hardly an improvement but at least were not next to the bussing station. All of the nice tables we wanted which were apparently all booked up went unused the rest of the night. The appetizers were good, and things were looking on the up. The waitress kindly topped up our champagne complementary. But next thing we know the kitchen was sold out of the chicken and scallop options, most everything on the menu was beef otherwise… which our birthday guest doesn’t eat. He tried a salmon dish but it was very fishy and seemed off so He didn’t eat it. The waitress was trying really hard as she could see we were unhappy…. But she seemed flustered and like she was playing catch-up all night. A few times throughout our evening we sat without drinks because the waitress forgot. We were all so excited to come after learning of the renovation. But sadly didn’t have the best experience, which I’ve come to expect at the Palliser after a bad experience staying new years eve a few years ago as well.
service wasn’t the best, he was not attentive or seemed to really care. the food was a let down and was not what we were expecting, it’s sad since it’s such a beautiful space!
No money value at all, renovation season plus hotel guests
Poor service. Entrees were not very good. Expensive, small portion sizes, poor value. We will never eat there again.
Beautiful surroundings with a comfortable feel. We chose this place for a small family dinner due to its location and the fact that it’s known for its setting inside the Palliser Fairmont Hotel downtown Calgary.
Dessert was fantastic, very creative chocolate bubble with mousse and fruit. Strawberry cream special was very good. Pork special was moist but lacked flavor. Lox salmon, the balance of flavor was lacking, better with tarragon from another dish. Beef Tartar was lacking balanced flavors as well with only mayo and egg. The crackers with the dish were plentiful and with a thin layer if tartar may have made the dish better as they were salty.
Great place for breakfast. The food is great and the servers are lovely too.
Great atmosphere, wine and sharing plates. Waitress made sure everything we ordered was vegan for me which was lovely.
Best place to go anytime. We had an amazinng time. Food was way on time.
Service was extremely slow. Steak was very tough. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table. The wine that was served was 50% more expensive. We were not advised of the difference until after the wine was poured. Apparently they didn’t have the one we ordered so they served the more expensive one… but then charged us for the more expensive bottle. That is completely unacceptable and a terrible experience for our 17th anniversary. We will not be back.
TOMAHAWK! Renata rocks it too ♥️
Hidden gem in Calgary, great atmosphere and vibe..
Love this place!
My one very minor complaint was that they didn’t do anything my my partner’s birthday. Though I did see the restaurant do a birthday dessert for another table.
Other than that though, it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere in this place is out of this world, classy!
Generally good. Just some small attention to detail that could be improved. Example: the Prosecco was flat and we had to order again from a fresh bottle. I asked for a twist in a Martini and they served it with olives. Little things
We had a fantastic evening! Dinner and drinks were perfect. We will be back.
First time back since the restrictions were lifted. The Grand lady of Calgary is as grand as ever with an updated addition in the Hawthorn!
Wishing the staff at The Palliser all the best as Calgary gets ready to welcome visitors back!
Overall service was pretty poor for what you expect of a Fairmont property. Took about 30 minutes before our sever acknowledged our empty glasses. Overall slow and poor service.
What a incredible experience I had with my girlfriends who’s first time it was at Hawthorne! Our server/bartender Sarah was an absolute gem, her passion, knowledge and personality made our whole experience perfect! We’ll definitely be coming back here as it was our favourite of the evening!
The service was excellent, the food was good, but the price was out of this world.. we could have had a better meal at the Keg for half the price.
It was Father’s Day dinner with family. The server and the hostess greeted us warmly. They offered drinks and kids menu without delay. The entire dining experience was nice and relaxing. The food was great as usual. The table size was on the small side but we managed to get our dishes and drinks organized.
We went for Father’s Day brunch. Delicious brunch meals and the ambiance was calm and inviting.
