Don’t add a pinch of salt! One persons opinion here. I thought all the food was over seasoned. The egg roll appetizer was very heavy. The menu online was wrong. The waitress said they are recreating there menu. I didn’t expect this to included bar drinks. Speciality drinks were not available. Would not go back.
The food was good but not exceptional. The service wasn’t very good. It took about 10 minutes for the server to come to our table when we were seated. We only had our appetizer for about a minute before the entrees were served. The atmosphere wasn’t for me. It was sterile, bright, and felt more like a diner than an upscale restaurant. The music was obnoxious too.
Very good food. Disappointing that espresso was the only coffee option after dinner.
Too loud, unable to discuss anything
The food was amazing and the staff was great! Good spot for fresh seafood.
The food and drinks were very good. The bartender was able to whip up mocktails for those that don’t drink alcohol. The host walked around to ensure everything was ok. Service was decent but the waitress got busy with other bigger tables so then service slowed down a lot, but patience is important during these times when staff is short. I will definitely be back to eat here again.
Valet wait times were horrible due to short staffing, park in the Neimans parking garage which is a block away to save your self the headache.
Food was just ok, but the service was poor. I picked 2 different wines from the menu that they did not have, then finally chose one they did have, but the bottle was opened when it came to the table. Then the server just poured full glasses instead of at least letting me try it first. I’d expect that from Outback, but not here…
Then I chose to have the rotisserie pheasant, but they brought out rotisserie chicken instead. Had the manager tell me that they buy big pheasants, but when I finally had the chef come to the table, he admitted it was chicken.
Dined here this past Friday to celebrate a friends new job and will not be going back. The food here was actually pretty good but that was the only positive part of our experience. We had a 745 reservation for 6, not a huge party. It took 45 minutes for one of our guests to get her first drink and that was the only one we had for the rest of the evening.
Additionally, the wait staff was very unapologetic for the delay and was also had very little knowledge of the menu. She brought out a Zinfandel after we order a bottle of Pinot Noir because “the bottles looked the same” and then brought out a bottle of Pinot that was 3x the price we requested.
After speaking with the manager they are apparently understaffed, but you would be much better served going to staples like Bobs, Town Hearth or Nick & Sam’s for the prices they charge here.
It was a Friday night and we had a reservation. When we arrived at 6:45 it was pretty slow but there only seemed to be 2 servers working. The bartender actually seated us before our server arrived. Overall the food was good but not spectacular. The au gratin potatoes were undercooked and flavorless, and the filet flight was supposed to be medium rare but came out medium well. The restaurant gave off hotel vibes. The service in general was slow through the evening. It took a while to get a cocktail and it took a long time to get our check at the end. Lastly, I will add that the menu is all over the place. The restaurant lacks an identity.
The food was very good. The service was horrible. I was done eating by the time my wife’s food made it to the table.
Her side was brought out and when her steak was brought out the side was cold. I was going to speak to the manager however she was dealing with another issue with a couple that was sitting next to us.
I really really wanted to like this restaurant. When we walked in it had amazing ambience but our experience wasn’t great.
We sat down and it took literally 16 minutes for someone to come take our drink order. We then had to flag down a manager after another 10 minutes to get our appetizer order taken. The appetizers came out very quickly and we enjoyed those while we continue to wait for our cocktails. When our drinks were eventually delivered to the table, my cocktail had three insects in it. They promptly remade the cocktail but a manager never came over to apologize and the drink was not removed from the bill.
As for the food, everything tasted delicious. The lobster bisque was a little thin but it still had great flavor. I might be willing to give the joint a second try, but they really need to tighten up their service levels. As a guest, it felt like the waitstaff had no idea what tables they were assigned to And the drinks took way too long to arrive from the bar. I know we are not the only ones that felt this way because several tables around us were trying to flag down a waiter, and one was visibly frustrated that he had to wait so long for a glass of wine that he ordered with an entrée. He eventually ate the entrée without his wine and just told them to send that glass of wine back when it finally came as he was finishing his meal.
I have sympathy for the fact that the struggle is real on the labor front right now in the hospitality industry, but stronger management could help rectify this sort of confusion and guest angst. And in my opinion, this is essential In a restaurant with such high price points for their menu items.
We absolutely loved Hawthorn and would highly recommend!
The food was good but the peppercorn sauce was bland. Service was fair. We should have received our steak knives prior to or at the same time as the steaks-not afterwards. But I think my main disappointment was the ambiance. There is a certain ambiance attached to a high end restaurant. Examples of ambiance that matches $$$ are 3 Forks, Nick& Sam, and Town Hearth. I didn't think this restaurant quite delivered it.
I was hesitant to give it a try after reading some of the reviews but it was late on a Saturday night and my wife and like trying new places. I can honestly say what it was a great dining experience! The snow crab claws (large portion), Dill Salad, and the excellent Waygu filet, my wife had the swordfish which was also excellent! We love the location and the restaurants layout. The decor is first class as well as the dinnerware. The service was spot on and the food came out timely and coordinated! There are still a few things to they could improve own to make this a true fine dining experience but there are many that can't. Loved it!
Cool restaurant in a lively location. You can hang out at the AT&T Experience before and after, get a drink, and go inside to visit the AT&T Headquarters lobby (lots of movies and big screens!).
The restaurant is very good, steaks are high quality from Allen Bros, and cooked properly (we had the filet and NY). Try the grilled avocados and romaine, and the Hawthorn salads. Hummus and desserts all good.
Server was very friendly and efficient. The staff seemed a bit chaotic, but note that the restaurant is still new and it was a busy Saturday night.
Overall, very nice experience. Their prices are pretty high given that there are several other high quality steakhouses nearby in Uptown and Turtle Creek. We did enjoy the meal and will consider it again the next time we're downtown.
While decent, there wasn’t anything special about this restaurant other than its location. Our waiter was very kind and attentive but not trained and hadn’t tasted most of the menu so he couldn’t make any recommendations. While not his fault (he was very new) he should have been trained on the menu if he was new.
It wasn’t as good as the first time we went.
We invited some good friends to dinner at Hawthorn and had a fabulous evening. The food was terrific, especially the Wagyu Meatballs appetizer. The atmosphere was elegant, but not stuffy. We’ll definitely be back!
The restaurant was nice.... the settings were exquisite.... the presentation was awesome... the service was friendly and professional... the dining experience was lacking of character being chargerd $10 for FIJI water.... like really Hawthorn what gives!! Then me n my wife order the lobster Mac and the filet flight of which we shared.. although it was good as far as taste is concerned but extremely overpriced for the portions we received... 2 glasses of water, 4 cocktails, steak bites and Mac n cheese to come out to close to $300 is way more than the dining experience we received... I will not be back and will never suggest this restaurant to any of my friends for dining!!!
It was delicious! The ambiance was great. It had a very clean and open feel but very chic. Can’t wait to come back!
Beautiful bar, great bartender, hostess did not rush us. Magnificent food and service, best steak we have had in a while! Will definitely return!
Great food, great location, great service. Hoping this spot will get more attention soon as it's well deserved!
Unfortunately it was awful...the service was as bad of an experience as I’ve had. The food was cold, we sat at our table for an hour before the food was served. We went as a family for Mother’s Day and spend over 300.00 for a family of 4. It was horrible.
1.5 hours before food came out
Menu was horrible and food was even worse
Worst dining experience in 20 years. Went to Hawthorn Restaurant today for Mother's Day Brunch with the family. Upon being seated on-time at 11:30 we were told we have 90 minutes to eat due to reservations. That's fine. What's not fine is being seated at 11:30 and still waiting for the 1st course of your 3-course meal 75 minutes later. The 1st course finally arrived 90 minutes after being seated (remember we were told we had 90 minutes total time when seated). The 1st course came out on a still dirty plate and the 2nd course came out completely cold for all of us. I spoke with the Manager who did nothing but make excuses. Finally got up, tipped our waiter cash (she was great & frustrated as well....it wasn't her fault the operation was so poorly done) and walked out. Easily the worst run operation and dining experience I've had in as long as I can remember. Everyone around us said they were having the same miserable experience. What a total, unmitigated disaster this restaurant was.
This was the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in my entire 58 years of life. Despite it being Mother's Day, and despite the restaurant requiring reservations and a credit card in advance so they could charge you if you cancelled, they were WOEFULLY understafffed. Numerous people complained about the service and the food (which was served cold after many waited for over two hours to be served) and several got up and walked out without paying. The wait staff were trying but it was an utter meltdown. The cherry on top with the manager's terrible attitude--whenever someone approached him to complain, he argued with them and made excuses. No apology or compromise was ever offered. We will not be back and neither will any of the families seated near us.
Slowest service ever. Bar service was the worst. Three requests and one hour and 20 minutes later a warm Mimosa was delivered. Repeated requests for iced tea and never delivered. In Dallas, TX and we could not get iced tea to the table.
The food is way below standards in Dallas.
It was our craziest dining experience of the past 20 years. Multiple tables yelled at the manager and/or walked out without finishing their meal. They were understaffed and not prepared like I've never seen. Our meal took 2.5 hours, plates were never cleared in between 3 courses, the food was cold and to be clear, this was each and every table's experience....all tables were talking together about what was going on throughout the entire morning. Our waitress was very nice and explained what was happening and I sincerely hope they have a new plan in the future because it is a beautiful restaurant in a cool new part of Dallas.
Worst dining experience in a long time. Not enough time to describe all of the service fails. Summation after 2 hours and still waiting for our desserts (simple 3 course meal) I had to ask 3 times to get a bill so we could leave. Other guests were actually walking out without paying (which I was encouraged to do) however, I did feel some sense of obligation to pay. Had the manager ever visited my table - which I requested multiple times - he should have just waived the fees given how horrible everything was. Happy Mother's Day
We’ve now been twice - once for dinner and once for Mother’s Day brunch. They are entirely overpriced for what they offer. In fact, they mislead us on our cocktail and mocktails for the table which didn’t sit well for the rest of the experience. The food was average. The service has been below par each time. Sadly, I think they overhyped themselves and mismanaged customer expectations.
We went on Mother's Day for the fixed menu brunch. About 70% of the food they served was really delicious, but there were some misses. The service was very slow, even with the fixed menu, but a lot of places are understaffed right now so I don't fault them for that. And the place is beautiful. My main problem was the price was simply offensive. Truly ridiculous for what was offered. It left a really bad impression overall to have to pay over $100/pp (after tax/tip, and including only 1 glass of wine). I would go back for drinks to enjoy that atmosphere, but would tell a friend you can get high quality food all over town without paying that much.
Waiter forgot appetizer and desert, and charged us in full. No incentive to return.
So, I was very torn in writing this review. Let me start by saying that the food is very good. We were there for Mother's day with a prix fixe menu. The pork loin was tasty. Also, our individual server was excellent. He did a very good job and was very attentive. My problem is more with management and with the location, the AT&T Discovery Zone. Our reservation was for 10:00AM, the first reservation. We arrived at 9:55AM, parked on the street in front and walked up to the revolving front door at the street. A sign taped to the window directed us to enter through the AT&T lobby next door. The lobby was locked so we entered through the revolving door and had to weave our way through the restaurant to the maitre d's stand. I forgot my phone in the car and stepped out to get it. The AT&T security person stopped me and told me I had to move my car. I told him we were going to the restaurant, that there was no sign posting "no parking", and no valet. I asked him where we were supposed to park. He said he didn't know. I returned to the maitre d', explained the situation...no place to park, no valet, locked entrance posted on door, rude security person. I asked to speak to a manager but none ever came. I had to park 3 blocks away in an open lot at $10. When I finally got back to my table, the maitre d' sat another party right next to us, in the same booth, when the rest of the entire restaurant was completely empty. Luckily our server was wonderful and the food very good. This is a problem of poor management. Hope they can resolve these matters and survive tough competition in Dallas.
I hope it improves but that was not worth the bill.
The food was wonderful. The waiter was attentive. Apparently no one has found this gem since it was not very crowded.
Mickey and Sean did a fantastic job of caring for our table. Mickey was entertaining and Sean was a fantastic mixologist.
Beautiful restaurant, with excellent food and ambiance. Bar was excellent - outstanding craft cocktails. Food was delicious and well prepared. Service was attentive, but a little off - seems they are still getting their footing related to being closed for a while and now being open again. Very nice people, and currently very accessible.
We had a wonderful experience! Great drinks, food and ambiance. Great service and just a fabulous restaurant.
This place was great. A nice little hidden gym that everyone hasn’t discovered yet, but I hope they do! The service was great From start to finish. It’s a little bit on the pricey her side but definitely worth it
Decided last minute to try it for son’s birthday. The manager was great and gave our son a nice drink and desert for his birthday and the food and service was exceptional. Highly recommend.
