Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Loved the bone marrow, fries, oysters, bernaise sauce, yorkshire pudding (potted beef was fine). Love that you can find bone marrow throughout the menu. The steak was fine. Not as tasty I would expect from a steakhouse. Some of them were also a bit undersalted. Part of our table had trouble cutting our steaks as well. I think upgrading the knives would help but not sure if that would solve the problem. Great sticky toffee pudding. A pretty space. Overall a good experience.

I love Hawksmoor in the UK and usually only for their steak but was fancying a Sunday roast (which is great to be able to have in New York!), but there is definitely room for improvement - the side of bone marrow and onions was amazing, but the side of cauliflower cheese should be avoided as it was the worst I’ve ever had. It was watery and the cheese had congealed at the bottom of the dish leaving it to be very bland and overcooked. The waiter did kindly take it off the bill though and acknowledged that they’re yet to work out how to do what is a pretty basic dish properly. Broccoli would have been nice to see instead of cauliflower or instead of Brussels sprouts but each to their own I guess. The horseradish was creamy but very weak and underwhelming with no kick which was a shame, potatoes were too big and so they were dry inside, gravy was good but watery and needed the onions from the side to make it as it should be, and then the Brussels sprouts in my view is more for an Xmas dinner - just replace those with other traditional greens please! We saw many diners avoiding these as we know they can be a bit marmite unless done properly with lardons etc. but wouldn’t expect to see those for a beef Sunday roast. The beef, Yorkshire, carrots however were great and perfectly cooked. Finally, the sticky toffee pudding should also not be advertised with ice cream that was more akin to clotted cream. I would go back but more for a steak dinner than a roast given the issues with the trimmings and sides, but I’m sure hawksmoor will make improvements with time as they always up their game and take on feedback.

$500 for a dinner for two--not even a bottle of wine ordered. Very good food, drinks excellent but this place is not cheap by any means. Chateau Briand was perfect. Oysters excellent. Bone marrow not so great. Half of lobster $35 good but way overpriced.

Great experience. Didn’t love the creamed spinach. And the halibut could’ve used something else on the plate. 3 different steaks on the table were very good. My wine pour seemed a bit shy but the house red was nice. Ambiance very nice. Oysters, scallops, shrimp apps all delicious. Best Bernaise sauce. And desserts were Amazing.

Was excited to come here and check it out since I believe this used to be the old BLT Prime Space and before that Union Pacific. Welcoming bar area, tiny martinis but hey thats alright. Main dining room is cavernous, almost too much, they need something in the middle to break up the cafeteria feel of the space, which was also a bit to bright. Food - order a caesar salad to split, it was 5 stalks of romaine covered in a 1/2 pound of grated parmesan. Had to shake off most of the cheese. I had NY Strip, friend had Ribeye. Was surprisingly tough/hard even though it was medium rare, and also had an excess of untrimmed fat around it. Maybe they are using choice cuts rather than prime for these? Had a nice crisp to it from the charcoal cooking though. Sides were terrible. I get that they have a bunch of locations in the UK, and they probably don't deviate from the menu for US, but had fingerling potatoes that were completely unseasoned, creamed spinach which seemed to lack any cream, and, sliced portobello mushrooms which were, well, sliced portobello mushrooms. Don't think I'll be going back. Too many other good steakhouses, and restaurants that do steak well, to revisit this one.

Filet medium well was burnt to a crisp, rib eye medium and rib eye medium rare cook the same. Steaks were all tough and meat doesn’t melt in your mouth. Unlike typical nyc steak houses - these steaks are small.

As fans of the Covent Garden location, we were excited to try out Sunday Roast. It was very good-however the potato and Yorkie were cold and everything was extremely difficult to cut. The roast was good and the Sticky Toffee Pudding is still the best I’ve ever had.

The bone marrow appetizer is probably the best in NYC, if you like a classic bone marrow recipe. Bone marrow & caramelized onions - spectacularly delicious! The steak tartare included pickled shitake mushrooms, which were tasty on their own, but overwhelmed and smothered the taste of the meat. The strip steak I ordered was perfectly cooked (medium rare). Unfortunately, the porterhouse steak, sold by the ounce, that I would have preferred was available only in a 24 oz. size. The wine list is strange. Wines by the bottle are well-selected and offer a range of options. The red wines sold by the glass were dreadful. Either almost "raw" Italian reds or over-sulfured Californian reds. Some on that list were included solely for their alcoholic content (spoke to the sommelier). A fine steak needs a fine red - totally unavailable from the per glass list. The dining room and bar areas were beautiful, but noisy.

The Scallops were Phenomenal, unfortunately that’s where it ended. I Ordered the rib eye and it was SO fatty that I had to send it back. They brought me another one and it too was 65 percent fat. For $68.00 dollars this was Disgraceful . Unfortunately management was not helpful

Had a first class experience at Hawksmoor. There are a lot of places in NYC to get a good steak so it's hard to say this is the best but if you're looking for a great dining experience and you're willing to pay for it then I don't think you can go wrong with this restaurant... The dining room has a great ambience and feels 'special'. The staff are relaxed, friendly and helpful and we were taken through the food and wine menus in great detail, tasting a range of great wines before making a decision. Food was cooked perfectly and was full of flavour. Can't fault the whole dining experience but don't go if you're looking for a cheap evening. Be prepared to pay upwards of $150 per person for cocktails, the meal and wine but take your time and enjoy the experience!

Had reservations in main dining room but opted to dine earlier in the bar. All encounters with servers and staff was very pleasant, but became slow after entree was served. The Sunday Roast would have benefited by a little more seasoning, but was plentiful, and the bloody Mary spicy, which I prefer.

Outstanding experience from the moment we arrived. Reception staff very welcoming and helpful taking coats (it had rained pretty hard walking to venue). Amazing bar and the restaurant itself is stunning. Ryan our host was excellent- very attentive without being pushy or rushed. Food was cooked perfectly (rib-eye & rump steak) medium to rare closer to rare, with warmed plates too. Starters of scallops cooked perfectly and desserts of chocolate honey comb tart and sticky toffee pudding outstanding. Very comprehensive wine list by glass or bottle - fantastic experience at a very reasonable price

Had high expectations for all the buzz. We had an early reservation and asked not to be seated next to the host stand, restaurant was empty. Tons of 2 tops and host staff was not accommodating at all. Our waiter was super nice. Service was pretty attentive. Food was ok. I’m a fan of dry aged steak and the dry aged was under whelming. Brussels sprouts were under cooked and the potatoes were nothing special. Probably the bread and butter and pork belly were the best things we ate. I wouldn’t rush back and would not be the first steak house I’d recommend to someone. We eat out a lot, there are much better steakhouses for the price.
