Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast
Multiple dates available
Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

I had requested gluten free option in my reservation as well as to be seated/served timely due to need to catch a Broadway show. Staff had zero idea that my boyfriend needed gluten-free options by the time we sat down- I felt like I had to start from square one explaining gluten allergy and need for gluten free food only. Additionally, I wrote in reservation comments that we would need to leave by 6:15pm to catch a show. When the food was not tabled by 5:50, I mentioned to the wait staff we had to leave, and they replied not knowing anything. Maybe the loss in communication was on the Open Table side and not Hawksmoor, but it was frustrating. All of this being said, the restaurant is beautiful. The food is delicious. The staff we interacted with were all very warm and apologetic.

We were reseated without haste when our first table did not fit the criteria of being quiet and away from kitchen, bus stations, or server stations. The manager even came over to check if our alternate table was to our satisfaction. Our server, Taylor, was attentive, had excellent recommendations, and genuinely spoke with us-it did not feel like a performance, which often happens, especially when servers are busy. Taylor gave us the best service we have ever experienced and we are not young and have worked in restaurants ourselves. We even made a point of letting the manager know about the excellent service we received. The food was delicious—the best Caesar salad we’ve ever ordered and the Sunday roast did not disappoint. We will DEFINITELY be back.

NEVER EVER disappoints! Food is amazing: shrimp, scallops, and the Yorkshire pudding…I mean out of this world! (And that just the appetizers!). The steaks are next level amazing. Then, add the sides and dessert and you end up with a magnificent meal. The service is also impeccable! My family and I go into the city, a lot, and visit various restaurants and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Hawksmoor is one of the BEST!

Been here several times, food is always great. Absolutely disappointing dinner this time, and hard to conceive, when spending thousands. This time we were placed in an awkward booth behind the service staff counter, despite many other 4 person tables open at that reservation time. a All dinner we had the waitstaff brushing by us to fill water and check out tabs. By 7pm they told us they were sold out of not just the special cocktail, but also 3 of the main sides. How does a steakhouse sell out of mashed potatoes by 7pm on a Saturday night? Used to love this place but won't be back.
