Best meal in a very long time. I expected great things but this was way beyond my expectations! The food was incredible, service was amazing. Had a lovely waitress (didn’t get her name) but she was so knowledgeable with the menu, what sides are best etc. She very kindly bought out the creamed spinach for free as we were stuck on what to get. We are so glad she did this as it was gorgeous. We had a great experience in Hawksmoor overall. Would definitely go back

We enjoyed our time at Hawksmoor. The venue is very nice and comfortable. Service was excellent. Food was very good. My wife has sirloin which was cooked perfectly and was a good cut. I had fillet which was a good cut however over seasoned. I didn’t return it as it was cooked well I was able to enjoy along with sauce etc. Obviously returning would have required a wait whilst my wife had her meal. our sides were excellent. We chose the Malbec for our wine and although it was nice. It wasn’t worth £60 in any restaurant. We were comped 1 dessert due to the steak being over seasoned which was welcomed. Our bill was over £270 for 2 people and I although we enjoyed it, the cost would prevent us from returning I fear. I would say £200 would have been fair even for Edinburgh.

We have visited 3 Hawksmore's (including London and Manchester), and sadly, Edinburgh was disappointing. The service was lovely, but as was mentioned by others on Trip Advisor, the food was not hot when served and the meat was bland and unseasoned (we had Diane steak and monkfish). Would not visit again.

We waited 40 minutes from being seated to anyone asking what drinks we wanted by which point we already knew what food we wanted. The menus and website were not up to date, so when we called about availability of the Sunday lunches we were given the wrong information. When we enquired about this we were told that we should have pre-booked a roast to guarantee one! We were very clearly not from the area and couldn’t see this option on Open Table. We were very dissatisfied from start to finish!

The food itself (beef Sunday roast) is beautiful but the length of time to get your food from ordering, without explanation or a heads up from the waiters is disappointing. They also ran out of pigs in blankets. It’s the second visit for us but I would likely go back to Kyloe over the hawksmoor for the service and food.

From start to finish, we had a marvellous time. Great selection of wines. An outstanding selection of steaks and main courses. We weren't fit enough for desserts. Overall, we all enjoyed our time at the Hawksmoor. Looking forward to our return in the future

Every member of staff goes out of their way to make your visit a special one. They really do make you feel so welcome. The food is great, we had Sunday lunch which was really good, although it is on the expensive side. We're actually getting married in Edinburgh on December 8th, we were visiting to tie up some loose ends, and the staff actually brought us a cocktail 'on the house' which was so lovely of them, and was really appreciated. We'll be back!

The steak was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection! Service was excellent. The herb and butter lettuce salad… wow! I want the recipe for the dressing! One minor comment would be that a bit more variety in the sides would be great - we tried to order the parsnips and they were out, which I understand, but there weren’t many other options that were strictly vegetables without bacon, sausage, etc. all in all… a really excellent experience!

Disappointed with our experience at Hawksmoor. Eaten here before and the food and service was fantastic.Asked for a porterhouse and sirloin only to be told both sold out. Settled for the rib eye extremely fatty poorly cooked some of the sides were missing,ones that we had were cold. Except it was extremely busy but to receive the food we did was not what you expect from a high end steak restaurant. Hopefully our next experience will be much better.

Great food and great service, nice atmosphere with a good buzz. Only niggle I had was that the gratuity is already added on and no option when paying with card to remove as I always tip in cash. Otherwise great place to go for a special occasion for some fantastic food and drink.

I feel for the price of the food and drink it isn’t good value. The main restaurant is in a magnificent room (former banking hall) but I feel that actually works against the overall experience as it is too big and you are more of a number rather than a customer who is spending significantly in excess of £120 a head from the main menu. We paid £180 per couple and that was the express menu and low-mid price bottle of wine. It is like a Ryanair flight with the stealth tax of sides and sauces. I’d go again if it was a corporate invitation but would find a large number of restaurants before it on the list when spending my own cash. Staff were well informed and extremely warm and professional. Again though the number of covers probably prevents them from being able to give you the attention of service that your price list should offer. Food was excellent but again, it didn’t stand apart from other similar standard of restaurants who provide a better experience. This might seem petty and no sufficiently damaging critiques offered but all I know is that it left me under whelmed and a little bit feeling like I’d had my pocket picked.

First class service , waiter so attentive. Our chateaubriand was tepid and it turned cold Very quickly which I don’t expect for the price. Waiter took £10 off which was a nice gesture however for the price and how cold it was I would’ve expected a little more off it. Everything else as first class however to serve £75 worth of food cold I am sorry is not worth the money

My guest and I have dined at Hawksmoor in London, Edinburgh and New York. The staff in Scotland and London were the best! NYC was loud and with meh staff. The steaks and sides and Ambience were perfect. Cheers!

We were very disappointed with our seating as it was right beside one of the main entrance doors therefore it was incredibly cold when people entered or left . The party was mixed regarding the food however I have to say my choices were very nice . I also would have expected the staff to draw our attention to the service charge - we would have had no hesitation to leave a reasonable tip however we ended up leaving approx £ 70 - my husband realised this the next morning when we looked over the bill. Simple things however would have made it a totally different dining experience. I am going to say I would not recommend Hawksmoor as there is not option to expand reason - I would but would have to make sure they were very specific when booking etc

Overrated and overpriced. We love a steak dinner and have previously had an amazing experience at Hawksmoor in London. Thinking it would be similar we visited in Edinburgh. The food wasn’t bad, but mediocre at best and at £40 a steak (without sides) we expected a lot more. Service was adequate. Previously in London we had waiting staff who were very attentive and helpful with explaining the menu and options. To be honest we just felt mostly abandoned, with no one offering suggestions or discussing what we may like. It was no better than sitting in a Frankie and bennys.

I took my wife to Hawksmoor Edinburgh for her Birthday with my son last night (29th November) and it was exceptional in every way. The food was of course delicious but the staff were the stars of the night. Unbelievably friendly professional and helpful. It’s the best service I have had in years and we eat out regularly in London. The restaurant manager who greeted up was incredibly impressive and one of the nicest people we have met in a long time. Outstanding
