The steak was lukewarm and improperly cut against the grain. Caesar salad didn’t have any dressing and was served interestingly.

This was meant to be a good night to enjoy for a friend and I but it was let down by pretty rubbish service and a feeling that we weren't really welcome. Our table had to be given away in the timescale of one course and it meant that had we had dessert we would have had to rush it. Had we had a starter, our main would have been very rushed. I get that restaurants are busy but the window offered to a customer should be sufficient for three full courses, not one. Especially when pre booking. I have to say, presentation on the plate was pretty rubbish too for a well regarded establishment. A lump of meat on a white plate served exactly as so, looks terrible. The steak was cooked well and it was a good cut but side portions could have been a bit bigger too. I left disappointed.

Sunday Roast at Hawksmoor for the first time and it was perfect. Started with a simple but tasty Bloody Mary, followed by the roast beef with both sides (stuffing and cauliflower cheese). A nice glass of the house Malbec paired very well with the food, and I finished off with one scoop of the peach sorbet. Then rolled off home for an afternoon nap! Once again, Hawksmoor meets my expectations and remains my treat-day favourite restaurant. Sunday roast is so good that I might become a regular diner.

Came for Sunday Roast. The roast was perfectly prepared (Medium Rare) with Yorkshire pudding and other vegetables. Nice way to spend my last night in Edinburgh.

We visited Hawksmoor to celebrate a family 50th Birthday. It was our second time at Hawksmoor. We found the whole experience terribly disappointing. The Food was not to the standard that we expected and service was poor. One of our group got the wrong steak which upset them. Our steaks were significantly over seasoned making it a real challenge to eat. Sides were average at best. Not once during our meal or after it were we asked how things were. We sat with empty glasses for some time and had to chase someone down to bring us another bottle of wine. We heard a couple of tables near ours voicing their disappointment also. A gentleman at a neighbouring table ended up wearing his dinner after a waiter split in him. We enjoyed our first visit to Hawksmoor two years ago but after this visit I’m very unlikely to return to any Hawksmoor establishment in future. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews but the experience we had absolutely deserves one!!

The food was lovely, other than the side of macaroni which had no sauce in it & had to be sent back. The service was not great. We were seated for around 40minutes before we got our drinks. The cost of the drinks were extremely overpriced. This is one of the reasons I would be put off returning to The Hawksmoor. There were 6 of us dining & one of the sauces was missing & by the time we managed to speak with someone & the sauce was brought to the table, we were well into eating our meal. This visit was to celebrate my sons 30th & the staff did acknowledge this & he received a beautiful sticky toffee pudding desert, which was much appreciated.

Very good , but horribly expensive. 320£ for 2 drinks, steak and desert.

Hi Aime, Thanks so much for your feedback — we're really pleased to hear you enjoyed your meal and overall experience. We completely understand your concerns about pricing. While we are on the higher end, this reflects our use of premium British produce, including grass-fed, longer-reared cattle for our steaks, and generous portion sizes to ensure top quality. We do regularly compare our prices with similar restaurants and also offer more accessible options like our Express Menu during lunch and early evening. Thanks again, and we hope to welcome you back soon! Hawksmoor Edinburgh Team
