Hawks Ratings and Reviews
My sister was in town, so wanted to go someplace special with her and friends for a nice meal. I had been here for my birthday and enjoyed it so much, decided to take the group. Hawks did not disappoint me. We had a great meal, with great service and of course the company was wonderful. Mushroom soup, yummy! Everyone's entrees were great and dessert, lemon soufflé was superb! I will return again to hopefully have another wonderful meal. Highly recommend!
Went for the Sunday Supper. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Received excellent service. Food was a little more hit and miss than we had anticipated based on other reviews we've read (Some items were fantastic and others were fair). Overall a nice experience, but unlikely to return soon based on cost v. quality.
The only thing I was not satisfied with was the location they seated us. I would recommend to ask people where they prefer to sit. We had a date and they gave us a table close to the bar and then put a family with two small children next to our table. Otherwise, everything was great!
I make a point of having Hawks every time I am in town as I am not from Granite Bay. Everything from the appetizers to soups to desserts, they're all super creative and fun. Great for business, date night, or whenever. I can't say enough about them! Go, enjoy, and you're welcome!
Hawk's Granite Bay continues to be a reliable local "go-to" for very good food and excellent service. Our recent dinner included the mushroom soup (really nice, great presentation, delicious), and salads: Caesar and Young Greens (heavy fresh garlic in the Caesar and nice romaine, but the basic greens salad was overdressed and dressing lacked interest. I actually thought perhaps the acid was "forgotten" in this batch of dressing-I like subtle flavors but this was a little too subtle for my taste, but the greens themselves were of high quality.) Sole and scallops entrees were both very good, fish cooked perfectly with baby turnips (excellent) and the scallops with pork belly had a nice combination of flavors on the plate. We have come to expect freshness at Hawk's and we weren't disappointed in that regard. And our service was excellent-I think the best we have had at Hawk's (young man-very professional without any pretense). Highly recommend this restaurant.
Consistently great food and service. Staff is always friendly and helpful as well as knowledgeable regarding the menu. The menu offers great variety and originality. The wild mushroom soup was the best I have ever had. The Bay Scaloops were amazing and enhanced by the delicious pork belly. Great evening.
My husband and I ate at Hawks for the first time to celebrate my birthday. We tried the Chefs Tasting Menu. The five entrees were prepared creatively and the presentation was good. We liked all of the courses. The service was very good and our booth was very comfortable . It was probably our most expensive meal, but we would return for a special occasion.
Our group of four have chosen Hawks three times over the years to celebrate birthdays.
There is something that keeps us coming back. However, we seem to come away with mixed feelings. The ambiance is great. But the noise level is high and we find it difficult to converse. The menu also has mixed reviews....the Wild Mushroom soup is outstanding. Some had the apple salad and said it wasn't like last year. The service was very slow and seemed fragmented. Not sure we will be back nor recommend to others.
Wonderful tasting menu. Perfect for a birthday celebration. Each course was very unique and flavorful. The service was spot on and ready to meet our wishes. The sazerac was perfectly executed and a nice way to start the meal. The savory courses were in keeping with Hawks execution of beautiful presentation and truly tasty food.
We have been throughout the Sacramento region in search of the ultimate burger. Have tried many good burgers (and many overrated burgers) on the way. We just keep coming back to Hawks because theirs is in a league of its own. The short rib topping takes it to another level. A must try for burger lovers.
I've dined at Hawks at least 20 times over the years...really enjoy the food, the room, and the attentive service. What didn't go well this time was that my reservation included a request for a table in a specific area at the back of the restaurant. When the reservation was confirmed by a call from Hawks, this request was mentioned and confirmed. Upon arrival we were shown a table in the middle of the room...and it was rejected. Our requested table was not available for whatever undisclosed problem encountered by the front of the house. We settled for a booth near the kitchen after a short wait. The seating in this booth needs some work in that the pad
is fairly worn out, and one 'sinks-in' like you would encounter in an old couch. From past experience with Hawks, attention to detail is usually at the fore front, and I would have expected something from the management to make up for our table reservation problem.
Perhaps comping a corkage fee? It didn't happen and that was a disappointment.
consistently good. was very busy and louder than I recall. our waitress was fine. the bussers supporting her really were not. when u leave tea/coffee service and drop a sugar cube on lemon plate u do not say 'oops' and leave it there. you don't ignore requests for butter or fail to remove and replace soiled napkins. not in this price range and not with these expectations. she needed better help. all our food was excellent. hard not to order the duck confit. the taglietelle w/ crab, split as an appetizer was exceptional. The egg nog taste was outstanding.
I was disappointed. We hadn't been here for a couple of years but we found the service was slow. I had the short ribs which were excellent but the price was not commensurate with what you got. My husband got the duck which came out dry. I think they should have a bigger portion of vegies to go with all entrees. They are beautifully presented but that's not enough for the price. We ordered the charcuterie plate and that was delicious as well as the cream of mushroom soup. It was a nice touch to give soup to the entire table even though we didn't all order it!! The cushions needed to be replaced, my friend and I were sinking in the seats. They look beautiful and the decor in the restaurant is lovely but seats need to be comfy.
Awesome! Nothing more needs to be said.
This is the best restaurant in the Sacramento Valley. Chef Michael Fagnoni is adventurous and innovative. I have worked with Michael and Molly Hawks, his wife, setting up holiday wine pairing dinners for my company and they could not have made it easier for me. They prepared anything that I had asked for and more. I have done this over the years for my company at different high end restaurants in the area and I would not go anywhere else. My guests were always blown away by the attention to detail and precision of service. Hawks gets a 5 plus star rating from me.
