Hawk's never disappoints. The Sunday dinner menu is a treat, with several courses, all fresh and creative. Delicious first course with roasted carrots and pistachio puree. Very beautiful! Nice leek soup followed by a surprise treat of seared scallop with pickled and roasted onion on a small bed of spinach gratin(?). Subbed entree for roasted chicken. Very nice black garlic, peas and fresh asparagus as accompaniment. Lemon semi-fredo with huckleberry was a nice light finish. Professional, yet friendly, service and recommend later Sunday evening for a quieter experience.
This was our first time for Sunday night dinner at Hawks and were pleasantly surprised by the set menu and wine pairing options. We are familiar with the regular menu but thought the selections we were given were excellent and of great value. We selected the wine pairings for both of us and at the price of $25 each for the pairings are a great value - and enjoyable to be surprised by the wines - two French and two Italian.
We will definitely return on a future Sunday evening - but we will call ahead to check on the menu just to be sure. We understand they serve their famous fried chicken on the last Sunday of each month.
Our service was excellent with a nice touch recognizing my wife's birthday at the end.
A truly delightful evening.
Superior food and service
Duck was overly salty and was a problem for someone with water retention
issues....and it didn't taste good, although the skin was perfect & crisp.
Proposed to my fiance here, then 1 year later had our last engagement dinner before the wedding.
This place is amazing! We have never been disappointed. They hit the mark in every single way and what an experience! I had flowers delivered prior to arrival and they were on the table with champagne. The food is nothing less than outstanding! They go the extra mile when its a special occasion. Our favorite place!
Been there many times. Service was a little slow. Creative menu. Will go back.
Amazing food! Staff was very knowledgeable and great service !
Always an amazing experience. The luxury of an everyday dining for us with the experience of a special occasion or date night every time.
Never disappointed by the excellent service and preparation from the whole team.
Birthday very nice evening
This was our first experience at Hawks and we will definitely return! My husband and I both had the Tasting Menu and Wine Pairing. The service was excellent, we were not rushed and the wine flights arrived immediately before the course arrived. The small servings were just the right amount to satisfy and yet enjoy subsequent courses. The lightly cured Hamachi was fresh and tender, courses served without any heavy sides, sauces or fillers - primarily protein based. All dishes were artfully presented. Staff very knowledgable about food sourcing and wines. The menu selections, although somewhat limited, include everything from hamburger to gourmet delights.
I had the scallops and they were sandy/gritty, not the usual - the mushroom soup was outstanding as usual! Service is always excellent!
Simply Amazing! Last nights dinner was the best yet. We had the tasting menu. This is not my first time experiencing the tasting menu, however it was the best it’s ever been, and it is always spectacular! I can’t stop thinking about it!
The service and food were both first rate! I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly. My wife had the short ribs, which were also marvelous. We will definitely return!
Enjoyed dinner for our anniversary. Excellent service and food. Presentation is awesome.
Outstanding food and service. Our favorite restaurant for a night out. A little expensive for every day.
Great lunch menu in a very comfortable setting
It was my husband’s birthday, and Hawks is nearby and a special occasion place for us. We had superb service. The mushroom soup was good so said my husband and the gnocchi and English peas was comfort food for me. We got the appetizer plate with tasty bits and geeky s and mushrooms. That part was fine-not anything wow for us. His entree was the short ribs which he loved and mine was the petrale sole, also good. No room for dessert but they decorated a plate with two tiny but yummy cholcolte cakes. All in all a delightful dinner.
Food was 3 Stars - I expected more from the reviews. Both our meals the Taglarini and Duck were too salty for our taste and the Roman lettuce in the Cesar Salad had some dirt/sand in it. Service was 5 stars and ambiance was 4.
Surprised this place met our high (and slightly obnoxious) food expectations. The gnocchi was fantastic, and the mushroom soup out of this world. we shared about 6 plates overall, including the scallop entree which was also great. skip the tuna tartare app...it was only room temp and lacking flavor. the asparagus salad would have been our fave had the pancetta been crispy versus mushy and excessive. bartenders were great, and this place got busy!! we'll be back!
The food was good enough to cause you to pause and savor each bite. The service was excellent, and they new their food, so ask questions. The presentation is beautiful and the sommelier was willing to work with us and even brought a sample of wine before we had to commit to a glass.
My husband and I had a wonderful first-time experience at Hawk’s! It was our 22nd anniversary, on Friday, 4/6/18, and Hawk’s was the PERFECT place. The food was delicious and bursting with unique flavor combinations. We started with the mushroom soup and asparagus salad. BOTH were delicious! As we finished our first course, a server brought us a sample of a potato leek soup. That did not disappoint either...very flavorful! My husband ordered the Braised Short Rib, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender and very tasty with a creamy mashed potato (Pommes), again delish! I had the Sea Scallops with hazelnuts, which were delicious too. The wait staff, especially Katelyn our server, was very knowledgeable, attentive, and there for any questions/service we needed. Would DEFINITELY go back for another meal! Wish we would have tried Hawk’s sooner!
The best service in the Sacramento Region.
Service is excellent and not overbearing. Food quality is excellent. Portions are somewhat small.
Excellent overall dining experience. Bo was great as was the entire staff.
Always great service and food.
Again we had a terrific Prix Fixe meal that was delicious. Very pleasant Anniversary dinner.
Awesome as always. A very lovely and tasty Easter dinner.
Easter brunch was beyond expectations! Love how wonderful the quality and presentation of the courses were, and how friendly and professional the staff are! Every part of the experience was outstanding. We are so lucky to have Hawks right down the street.
I am a big Hawks fan so my review will be biased. We brought our own wine so I can’t comment on the Hawk’s list.
We had duck, short ribs (a must if you try Hawk’s for the first time) and New York sirloin. All were perfectly prepared.
We go there at least once a month so, this might seem biased. We will often have the chef's taster menu with wine pairing. Always seasonal, always great. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Our early evening at Hawks was a culinary joy; the Duck Confit masterfully executed. I enjoyed the tuna tartare with raw egg, but wish the tuna and the mix had been more diced and more seasoned. Claude's in SanFrancisco is an example. My wife and I were impressed and will return.
This is our favorite restaurant and we come here frequently. The staff is friendly, the decor is beautiful, and the food is amazing!
Sunday supper. Beautifully plated and service on point. Chicken was surprisingly the most disappointing part of the dinner. I’ve been there for Sunday nigh at dinner when they spotlight fried chicken and it’s always been good. Over cooked tonight.
We had a wonderful Sunday supper experience for my birthday. Emma our server is very kind, caring and takes very good care of her diners. The kitchen staff outdid themselves on the food and presentation of the Sunday supper menu. We can’t wait to make another reservation.
Friends were visiting from Texas and I chose Hawk's for dinner. Great service, great food and waiter. No rushing us out. We had a great evening.
It took almost three hours to eat a3-course meal. The service left a lot to be desired.
Outstanding meal. Chef's selection meal was incredible. Never had foi gras before, was good but will probably never have again ( mostly just out of principal).
This establishment has come a long way. The service has improved beyond expectation and specifically the wine service is as good as any Michelin starred restaurant. The quality of food is as good as ever. More than anything, now they are consistent in the quality of food as well as delivery of table service. Hawks can deservedly claim the title of the best restaurant in the area.
