Hawks Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful tasting menu. Perfect for a birthday celebration. Each course was very unique and flavorful. The service was spot on and ready to meet our wishes. The sazerac was perfectly executed and a nice way to start the meal. The savory courses were in keeping with Hawks execution of beautiful presentation and truly tasty food.
We have been throughout the Sacramento region in search of the ultimate burger. Have tried many good burgers (and many overrated burgers) on the way. We just keep coming back to Hawks because theirs is in a league of its own. The short rib topping takes it to another level. A must try for burger lovers.
consistently good. was very busy and louder than I recall. our waitress was fine. the bussers supporting her really were not. when u leave tea/coffee service and drop a sugar cube on lemon plate u do not say 'oops' and leave it there. you don't ignore requests for butter or fail to remove and replace soiled napkins. not in this price range and not with these expectations. she needed better help. all our food was excellent. hard not to order the duck confit. the taglietelle w/ crab, split as an appetizer was exceptional. The egg nog taste was outstanding.
I was disappointed. We hadn't been here for a couple of years but we found the service was slow. I had the short ribs which were excellent but the price was not commensurate with what you got. My husband got the duck which came out dry. I think they should have a bigger portion of vegies to go with all entrees. They are beautifully presented but that's not enough for the price. We ordered the charcuterie plate and that was delicious as well as the cream of mushroom soup. It was a nice touch to give soup to the entire table even though we didn't all order it!! The cushions needed to be replaced, my friend and I were sinking in the seats. They look beautiful and the decor in the restaurant is lovely but seats need to be comfy.
Awesome! Nothing more needs to be said.
This is the best restaurant in the Sacramento Valley. Chef Michael Fagnoni is adventurous and innovative. I have worked with Michael and Molly Hawks, his wife, setting up holiday wine pairing dinners for my company and they could not have made it easier for me. They prepared anything that I had asked for and more. I have done this over the years for my company at different high end restaurants in the area and I would not go anywhere else. My guests were always blown away by the attention to detail and precision of service. Hawks gets a 5 plus star rating from me.
First experience with Hawks some time ago, was good, but not outstanding. This time we chose the Tasting menu, which is not inexpensive, but was actually very worthwhile. The 5 courses served were very diverse and certainly were things that we would have otherwise not ordered - definitely shows the creative side of the chef(s). We will go back.
I ordered the burger. It was ok. No tomatoes not much flavor. French fried dry. My friend had the sandwich and salad. Salad was broccoli salad good sandwich very greasy. She and I only ate half of each of ours. Canceling my next girlfriend luncheon as this was very expensive and not very good. Very disappointing
I expected more . We had the duck confit it was drenched in oil and salty. My son and mom had the crab with pasta and it left her and i tasted as well fishing for a bit more flavor. My wife had the steak which was fair. All in all the dining experience wasn't up to par with the restaurants projected image. Maybe i've been spoiled by the kitchen or Melisse in LA but, no thanks to HAWKS. Won't be visiting for dinner. I'll give it a shot and try the brunch maybe it'll be a different experience. BTW forget about the beignet, not worth it.
superb dinner as always, food is phenomenal portions aren't always that great that's the only thing!, great creative flavors and staff/service are extremely helpful and knowledgable. Love the 'extras' you get to taste. Menu could change more and more veggies included in the price would be nice.
Lovely restaurant with excellent food and service. Wish the man courses offered more choices for vegetarians; my pasta with crab and salmon entrees were terrific. The surprise "shot" of butternut soup a nice touch; ditto for the small chocolates at the end. A beautifully plated dessert with "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate appreciated.
The service was outstanding and much better than on my one prior visit. However, will not return for the following reasons: No vegan options so relied on the Chef. He prepared a very nice plate of vegetables. It was really more of a side dish than an entrée. This speaks to the other entrees at Hawks. In my opinion they are rather small. You get much more value from other similarly priced high end restaurants in Sacramento.
Great restaurant. It was our first time and it was fabulous. We went to the Sunday Supper, a four course meal for $45.00 per person. Now that's what I call a bargain. The food was fantastic. We have been meaning to try Hawks for years, but we live 30 minutes away. It was well worth the drive. On top of the great food, the service is outstanding and the ambiance is beautiful. This is a first class restaurant and we will be coming back.
I usually like this restaurant very much, but my last meal there was not very good and the service was so mediocre. I have dined at Hawks frequently and have had the Sunday Supper Fried Chicken before and found it very good, which is why I went back again for it. This time the chicken was burnt, everything was greasy, and the dessert was so-so. I was so dissappointed. The soup was good. The server was not that attentive, never checked back to see if we needed anything. It took forever to get the check because multi-tasking seemed impossible....why a person cant stop to check on your table as they are going to refill a water is confusing to me. I will go back but probably never again for the chicken dinner. Not a winner winner this time.
The restaurant staff have a pretentious attitude, with no good reason.
Expect long waits and snotty service.
Being dressed In a suit and ordering a $175 bottle of wine did not improve the service attitude.
The food was good and bad, the duck was excellent, the steak was poor.
The manager did try to recover on the steak, but our patience was exhausted.
I could be a nice local restaurant with an improvement in service.
Menu is limited.
Fresh romaine for caesar salad with exquisite dressing and shaved parmesan cheese. Steak cooked exactly to order was choice cut New York. Waygu beef burgers with Shitake mushrooms cooked to order with great French fries. Service was attentive and professional. Excellent lunch. Good joint with well stocked bar full of great bourbon.
We are Hawks' advocates. Great food as always. Got a little nervous at the beginning as the service was a little slow to start, but things improved as the dinner progressed. Our server seemed stretched at the start, but we are glad that things got better since we brought 4 out of town guests with us .
As always, our dinner and service was excellent. Also, we greatly appreciate the little extras we received (i.e. shot glass of mushroom soup, small desert plate with "Happu Aniversary" written on the plate in chocolate). We are NEVER dissapointed - our favorite restaurant.
