Hawks Ratings and Reviews
Valentine’s Day dinner, the food was excellent. My wife is celiac and allergic to fish. They prepared a complete dinner for her, separate from the special dinner menu. The service was excellent. We were in a side room and the noise level was very quite. Overall very good dinning experience.
Valentines day is a special day for us as we were on our Homey Moon 22 years ago in Cancun and had the best meal at the Hyatt Blue Lagoon restaurant that I have ever had and don't ever expect to match, therefore our expectations are rather high. Hawks was very busy and service a little slow but we would certainly go back.
Relaxed but upscale atmosphere. Great service as usual. The Sunday Supper menu was fabulous. The Hanger steak was cooked to perfection and the Shiitake mushrooms were delicious. The olive cake with blood oranges was a great ending to the meal. Hawks is a consistent star in the Placer dining scene.
My husband and I wanted to have nice dinner together and we found Hawks. It was really a special experience. On Sundays they have a fixed 4 course meal, and I was a little concerned because I do not eat meat and my hubby does. But they were very accomodating and made me the most fantastic wild mushroom pasta. Our meal had an optional wine pairing and it was fantastic! I absolutely loved the vietti d'asti moscato that came with the olive oil cake for dessert. Each handmade touch that came with with all the courses were delicious and fun! We will definitely be back!
Just beginning our move to Granite Bay from San Jose, we were anxious to dine at Hawks after hearing my Aunt Linda rave about it.
The food and service were excellent . The Sunday supper was perfect for our early Valentine’s Day celebration. We will be back in 1 to 2 weeks on our next visit to Granite Bay. Can’t wait !
I have lived in Sacramento most of my life and Hawks is hands down my favorite restaurant. I am also a classically trained chef and can say that Hawks has never let me down. I had also been talking about Hawks with my girlfriend for quite a while (we've dined at Atelier Crenn, Gary Danko's and through out Napa) and she was very impressed! Thank you for the great food and awesome service, please keep up the great work!
Although the food was good - mushroom soup totally outstanding, our waitress put a damper
on the evening. Even though she was pleasant enough when we did see her, those times were
rare. Had to ask a busboy to ask her to refill one person's wine. She gave us dessert menu and
totally disappeared. Even though the crowd had definitely thinned out, we saw her talking
and laughing at other tables. Ten minutes later we decided to just skip dessert - even though
it was a birthday - which we told her when she finally showed up again. No asking if anybody
wanted coffee or anything. We probably won't be back.
We’ve relished Fried Chicken Sunday Suppers, and it had been a while since we’d gone. This was not as good as it has been in the past. Maybe Michael is not watching over the kitchen anymore? The chicken was drier. The sides were not a good compliment. The mushroom soup was delightful. The gem lettuce salad was bland. Sorry to say it will be a while before we return.
We were placed in the side room. It doesn't have much ambience and the noise from other tables in that room seems to reverberate. Food was really excellent. One of the best braised short ribs I have ever had. But the price (excluding wine which we brought ourselves) was pretty high @ $175 for two. Not really value for the food unless you like spending three times as much as somewhere else.
The setting and the food are excellent and the restaurant's overall reputation is deserved. We found the service uneven and not up to the standards of an A+ restaurant. One of our entrees was wrong and our server invested too much time in defending the incorrect order and the correct entree took too much time to arrive. One of the servers knocked over a glass of wine by mistake. Things like this happen. The wine glass was refilled, but the wet cutlery was neither noticed or replaced. A small "nit" but important for the overall impression.
My sister was in town, so wanted to go someplace special with her and friends for a nice meal. I had been here for my birthday and enjoyed it so much, decided to take the group. Hawks did not disappoint me. We had a great meal, with great service and of course the company was wonderful. Mushroom soup, yummy! Everyone's entrees were great and dessert, lemon soufflé was superb! I will return again to hopefully have another wonderful meal. Highly recommend!
Went for the Sunday Supper. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Received excellent service. Food was a little more hit and miss than we had anticipated based on other reviews we've read (Some items were fantastic and others were fair). Overall a nice experience, but unlikely to return soon based on cost v. quality.
The only thing I was not satisfied with was the location they seated us. I would recommend to ask people where they prefer to sit. We had a date and they gave us a table close to the bar and then put a family with two small children next to our table. Otherwise, everything was great!
