Haweli Indian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
While it's a beautiful restaurant to eat in, the service was pretty slow (although polite), and the waiter brought the wrong order. We chose not to correct him because we were hungry. When we asked for the remainder of our (wrong) dinner to be wrapped to go, he neglected to include the leftover naan, which had been a premium naan, and it should have been in the bag. It is not a $$ but more of a $$$, so that surprised us. Final review is that it is fine, but not worth the price point.
We arrived just before last orders and were welcomed by the manager to a virtually empty restaurant. The waiter was in a bit of a hurry but friendly enough. Our drinks and food arrived quickly and the food was excellent. We would go back at an earlier timeslot for better ambience.
If you want excellent Indian (mainly Punjabi) food, this is the place for you! It certainly is a place for me. Great for lunch (excellent buffet), and a really nice place for a special meal with friends, and an easy walk to the Winspear and Citadel. We had perfect service the other night. Everything we wanted when we wanted it without constant interruptions.
Excellent food - I hosted a party of seven guests. All were very pleased with the restaurant - including one guest from India who was very impressed with the authenticity of the cuisine. Great environment for conversation and an excellent dining experience. Very reasonable prices. I will use this venue for hosting and for personal dinners again.
I first visited with friends during weekdays and all went well and due to this impression I took my family to experience that during weekend for Buffett, but on that day the service and availability of food on Buffett trays were terrible. Specially the hot items.
This is one of my favourite places to go for lunch downtown. Lots of seating and a great lunch buffet. It's fast, you eat what you like, try what you're curious about, and avoid what you dislike. Super easy. Super Fast. Great value.
Just be sure you don't tell your friends. The last thing I want is for it to get super busy!
The dishes out for the buffet on a Friday were good, but nothing special. If I was a vegetarian looking at that buffet, I'd be depressed to see no paneer dish or something similar. I know this restaurant to be better, and people do not go into Haweli expecting to see aaloo-gobhi and a laukee-palak with chholay and daal, as the only options. Can't fault the service though - both the wait staff and the kitchen go out of their way to be of help and make eating at Haweli a good experience.
Buffet is very tasty although could use a bit more diversity. Space is open and comfortable. Service has to begged for and even then doesn't happen. No one asked if we needed anything, if the food was good, etc. We had to hail a "server" down for coffee which eventually came before our meal was done. A coffee refill required asking two different people. Not likely to return which is too bad because this used to be a favorite spot.
This restaurant was a huge let down. The ambiance was excellent but that was it. Food was ok but the biggest issue was service. We waited 20 minutes and finally had to flag down a waiter to get drinks. Waited another 10 minutes then flagged down a waiter to order. In fact not once did anyone approach us, we had to flag them down each time....even for the bill. Will never return.
We went here for Valentine's Day as it had many times still open to reserve. The place is not much to look at from the outside but is warm and inviting inside. The host barely spoke any English and at first we were hesitant if anyone was going to help us at our table as no one came. We guessed it was a buffet from watching everyone else and went to get our food. My husband is east Indian and he said it was fairly good. I personally have a hard time with spices but I rather enjoyed the variety of dishes as there were many with just a bit of spice. Plus we are both clean eaters and this food was fairly healthy for Indian food. I would go back again for sure, it was a good last minute find.
Booked this restaurant for 11AM for a business meeting and to impress my business guests with something different. When we arrived it wasn't open. Fortunately the Craperie next door was open and we had a great meal - my reputation was saved.
I don't know if its Open Table's fault or Haweli's but there seems to be a mis-communication - or Haweli just opens when they feel like it.
Not the type of restaurant you will notice, walking by. But I'm glad our online search for East Indian food pointed us here. Midweek we reserved, but didn't need to. It was very quiet. Food was delicious and authentic. Delightful waiter was very personable.
