HAVEN Riverfront Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Our dinner was, as always here, very good. We had a nice time. The food is good, the crowd attractive, the service is good (balances attentive with letting you enjoy in peace well)... The only pause was the cost. It ended up being a lot by the time the drinks, the appetizers, a salad or two and the $40+ entrees . We were going home for coffee and dessert -- or it would have been more. We expect that in NYC, but not Bergen County, in a strip mall with a CVS, a Home Goods and a Eur Wax across the street. It just felt a little too much for good (not great) food, no specials to dazzle... in a strip mall. Albeit a strip mall with a view.
Went to Haven for Brunch for the first time with my sisters and we really enjoyed it. It was an overcast day so we didn't get the full effect of the view, but definitely on the list for an outing on a warm summer night. The staff was friendly and our server was very attentive.
The staff was VERY accommodating as we had to change the reservation twice as to number of people and thus table location - they were kind and helpful - very much beyond helpful! We had a booth which enhanced our group's conversation as most of the restaurants are noisy and lack good acoustics. The food was well prepared, tastefully presented and was a hit with the group. The service was attentive although the server spilled a full glass of water on one of our group, but eventually they dried off - stuff happens. It was still a fine evening.
We had a really good brunch here on a recent rainy Sunday, sitting by the window with a beautiful view of the river. The food was inventive and really delicious and the service was even better. Will definitely return. I just wish the noise level was a little less energetic but overall it was a lot of fun.
The views were spectacular. The food and the service was also wonderful. This is very high end resturant that believes service and quality is number one. It was a little expensive but we knew that from the stars posted. Still, the wine and food were delicious especially since we are seafood lovers.
I know we made the right choice dining here for our anniversary, the quite surrounding and great meal made the night special. I would return for another special occasion. The outdoor seating looks great on a warm day and I'm sure that brunch must be popular as it overlooks the city skyline.
Views can’t be beat. Nice selection of brunch choices but I wish more fish options were incorporated. Good value for brunch item plus 2 drinks $31. Very crowded, lots of staff but service could have been more efficient/organized. Ordered brunch pizette and steak and eggs.
Went for a Sunday birthday brunch at 11AM when the restaurant opened for the day. Haven was fairly empty, but by the time we left at 1pm it was fairly busy. The energy was good, but not loud. We sat indoors though the outdoor seating looked nice, with awnings so the sun doesn't beat down on you. Views of the city are great. The food was fine for the price point, standard brunch fare.
Great find all around! We visited HAVEN for a birthday dinner celebration and to share the NYC views with our guests from out of town. The staff followed our special requests to a T, which was much appreciated. Everyone was delighted with the food, the service and the view. My foodie spouse approved too! Expect to go back for brunch and lunch too.
What a fabulous evening dining out of doors at Haven. The food : sensational and imaginative, the staff : impeccable, and the ambience : romantic. Highly recommended. Exceptional was the swordfish and the hot fresh seeded bread. Looking forward to our return visit.
The haven was great! The ambience & view were stunning and service was top notch!
The cocktail list was ok although with all of the great spirits out there, it was disappointing to only see 1 bourbon and 1 tequila cocktail on their list, especially when they are so hot and trendy right now.
The food was very good. Appetizers we had the tuna tartare which was fresh and so flavorful, and the lobster risotto fritters were on point as well, creamy and crispy at the same time, very comforting. The not so good, we ordered 9 oysters which were disappointing, the Atlantic were decent but the 6 Kumamoto oysters were not good, they were so dry no liquor left in them at all and shriveled. I was so shocked that they would have let oysters of that quality get into the dining room, but we moved on...
The lamb shank was absolutely perfect everything you look for in a braised lamb shank, moist and succulent, with a nicely thickened braising sauce full of all the right comforting flavors of herbs, wine, root vegetables very yummy. The second entrée was the seafood risotto and this too was good. This risotto did not use the traditional Arborio or Carnaroli but a black rice and I appreciated this rendition. What I was very surprised about was that for $39.00 the seafood consisted of 2 small shrimp, 2 small sea scallops and a very small amount of chopped lobster meat which was a frozen product because it was spongy. The flavor was good and the dish has potential, but $39.00 for bowl of rice I think the seafood should have been more impressive, larger shrimp and scallops and put a nice lobster claw on the top, when people are ordering lobster they want to see, don't go dicing it up!
Dessert brownie skip it, no chocolate flavor, dry & had this weird hard shell on top.
The bread pudding, was one of the best desserts I have had this year.
The chocolate with the bourbon sauce and vanilla sabayon melded incredibly well, and the texture was ethereal, don't pass it up. We will go back.
This place was so nice! It was our first time there and we had a very lovely experience . From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out it was great! The only one thing I had an issue with was one of the waiters which wasn't our waiter was serving other tables he literally had like sweat rings underneath his armpits! That was a bit shocking to me how people were being served food that like in a very nice restaurant. I wouldn't want to hype up the place and send a friend there so they can see something like that. Other than that everyhtning was absolutely perfect.
