This place has so much promise but the kitchen needs to pay more attention and need better communication between kitchen/servers/customers
Ate here the other night outside- beautiful. It took a bit for wine to come, then the apps. The pretzel crusted calamari was very good but would have been great if they weren't room temperature. Entrees were very mixed- my seafood risotto was very good- seafood properly cooked. My husband's chicken with creamed spinach should never have left the kitchen- it was essentially cool to touch. He didn't bother eating it. Two tables near us were also having issues with their orders/meals. Such a shame since we live in Edgewater and would have considered coming regularly. Given the atmosphere and the prices the food should live up to what it "promises". Person who seated us, waiter and the person who came to address our concerns were fine. They just didn't do anything to say - come back and try us again....
We arrived fifteen min prior to our reservation and spent a little time at the bar. Than a friendly hostess escorted us to the outside patio. We were seated at a table with a fantastic view of the Hudson river and Manhattan. The waiter was courteous, service overall was good and not intrusive. Restaurant has a good wine selection. The food was excellent. Out of three dinners in NJ on our business trip, this was the best meal.
I shall refer to this place as mini wanna be Flemings. Nothing spectacular to report. Vodka martini was the highlight of the meal. Oysters were delicious and much better than the main course and dessert sampler. You are definately paying for the view and the bar atmospher but the general dining area is almost exactly like Flemings. Good for a date night because of the view but thats about it. They substituted regular noodles for veggie noodles in the shrimp pasta dish and although the bronzino itself was very good, the sides and bread were subpar.
The reason to visit is the view - If you can eat outside, its spectacular!
Our waiter was experienced , attentive and professional. The entry experience reminds one of a mass francise eatery:staff dressed in shorts, and inexperienced in how to greet those looking for a sophisticated experience. The bar is noisy and music blasting did not match ambience.
Service was incredible, waiters were very attentive to our needs and the food was delicious!
Waiter didn’t hear or recall dessert order & brought bill!
Monday night was perfect and everything was beyond perfect from the food to the wine
Amazing waterfront setting and ambience. Service was outstanding. Our waitress felt like a member of the family by the end of dinner. Food was excellent, creative combinations and well executed. Will definitely go back again. Great place for a special occasion!
Quality and service of the food was excellent! Waiter was friendly and didn’t rush us.
The food and the view were fabulous! The service was extremely slow, and our server was less than attentive, however the support staff; water refills were very prompt. We were a party of 4, ordered brunch and waited 35-40 minutes for our meal to arrive. Then waited on the back end, had to ask for someone for our check. I have dined with you before, always had great experiences, but Sunday we came with visiting family and had a less than stellar experience.
A top notch restaurant in every aspect
Had a wonderful brunch here - the weather was perfect for outdoor dining on the waterfront. Service was very attentive and accommodating and the food was great! Would definitely recommend and hope to return soon.
Ate outside on a beautiful night so ambiance was outstanding. Did not see the inside. Was a bit expensive but overall was a superior dining experience.
It was a hot day and the A/C wasn’t cool enough especially when it got more crowded. We were all sweating!
Nice outdoor and indoor seats, very delicious dishes, the elegant interiors and friendly staff make a wonderful dining experience.
The music inside and out was very disturbing and not pleasant.
After trying to get to Haven for over a year, we finally made it with much anticipation of a great evening. We were promptly greeted at the door. They confirmed our reservation and took us to the outdoor seating. We basically had to run to catch up to the hostess who basically hurriedly made her way through the restaurant. Once seated, we hadn't even looked at the drink or wine menu and our server #55 (forgot her name) was at the table asking for drink orders. We asked her to come back. We did place an order for 2 glasses of wine and as soon as they arrived, she asked if we were ready to order. We felt very pressured as if she was looking to get us in and out. I had to say, we are here to dine and will be here for quite a while. We had to spend all evening pacing her. The appetizers were very good. We then stalled on our dinner order to space things out, eventually ordering along with a bottle of wine for dinner. The meals were nicely plated and tasted great. Our server however informed us that they did not have the wine of our choice. After having spent time to choose the wine to pair with our meals, we were unsure what to choose now. We asked for a recommendation and it was obvious there was no wine expert on premise. Nearly 10 minutes of our food sitting there getting cold, she finally brought a by the glass wine for us to try which was not good. We then simply took a chance on another $88 bottle of wine and hoped it would pair well and it was a good choice. After finishing dinner, we still had more than 1/2 of the wine left due to the long delay and they were already pushing us for a dessert order. I would give Haven a 3.8 rating and that is being very generous. The view of the Hudson is great. Their knowledge of their wines is horrible and the list is very small. Their meal pacing needs a LOT of work they need to slow way down. Based on this experience, I don't think I would drive 48 miles to try it ever again. Not worth the trip or $$.
Great service and great food! Especially their apple desert! We came here for our anniversary and we will be back!
We really enjoyed this restaurant. This was our second time. The only complaint we have is
that we could not order a burger for dinner even though it is on the bar menu. We did not
want to order off of the regular dinner menu. If they can make sliders, they can make a burger.
Nice outside seating
Beyond Excellent from the time at the door until the end.
The air conditioning wasn't working well, and the desserts weren't great, but the delicious food, chic ambience, beautiful NYC/waterfront view, and tasty cocktails more than made up for it. Our server was also fantastic. It was the perfect place to celebrate my fiance's birthday.
Our lunch date at Haven was wonderful from the friendly host greeting us to the beautiful water views, the prompt but never rushed service, and delicious food. Every bite was delicious and the cocktails were great.
Great food, disappointing experience.
We went to celebrate our engagement. We had a reservation for 8:30pm and at 7:30pm were called and asked to come as early as possible because the kitchen closed at 9 and they were worried we "might not have enough time to order". We live 30 mins away and left right away in order to not be "that" couple that made the kitchen stay late (even though our time slot was offered on open table). We arrived just after 8, but weren't seated until 8:45pm. The dining room was still relatively buzzing so we were very confused as to why we were asked essentially to "hurry up and wait". The food was great, but the service was lack luster. We even mentioned that we were both in the industry and while everyone congratulated us because of the note we made in our OT reservation, nothing about the experience was particularly note worthy. We asked to take a side dish home and never received it. Aside from being rushed to get there, when we left, there were still plenty of tables still in the midst of their meals. It's disappointing as we were so excited to go, but have no motivation to plan a return.
This place was very nice and the food was great!
You can't beat this place for the view. I have been a frequent for the past 3 years
The service is always good, and food is above average.
Everything was great. Took my fiancé for our anniversary. Was a little bummed we couldn’t have have an outside table that I requested when I made the reservation 2 weeks in advance however I understand the first come first serve rule. It was my first time there and it will definitely not be my last. Our food and waiter were absolutely fantastic. Thanks for making our special night a great one!
Loved it. Came here to celebrate my wife's birthday. Made reservations and requested outdoor seating and we got everything we asked for. It started to drizzle in the middle of our dinner but I still enjoyed the experience.
We arrived at 1:30 for a reservation. We were seated. At 2:00. We waited a half hour for a waiter and the food. Came out an hour later dead as a door nail. Horrific dining at its worst
The service was very slow and the hostess didn’t listen to what we wanted!
Our server was so sweet she even pointed out we tipped her twice because we did not realize tip was included already . Food and service was amazing , view can’t be beat.
Haven's a good restaurant with a nice view of the city, right on the water. Appetizers were excellent, but main course was average. It's not too pricey (had the steak which was $34) which is nice but almost would have preferred paying more for a higher quality. Went for an anniversary dinner which the hostess made sure to mention as well as providing a glass of complimentary champagne at the table.
Everyone in our table of 11 left happy and satisfied. High praises for the calamari, Mac n Cheese, rib eye, skirt steak, and the French chicken. The 3 course dinner prix fixe of $54 could be lowered to make it a better value. Our waiter and his assistant were very friendly and attentive. The ambiance was very nice and clean, overlooking the city across the Hudson River.
It was a very nice resturant. The staff was nice, quick and attentive.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary. Great outdoor seating. Our Server Jose was tentative. Nice job.
Amazing place and food was outstanding. Definitly going back!!!
Great restaurant to wine and dine on a special occasion. Love the location!
Awesome place. I love it
I booked this restaurant 2 weeks prior to Father's Day. When I called I specifically asked if they were serving Brunch from 11:30 -3 as was posted on their website. They told me yes they were. They even had a "Special Father's Day Brunch" menu on their website.
Well, after a 2 hour drive, we were seated outside rather quickly. The view was ok.The menus came, & there wasn't a brunch menu in site. We asked the waiter. He said, nope...today is dinner menu only.I was very upset. My husband said no worries, so we all ordered.
We started with 2 different kinds of Oysters- one sweet & one briny. These came out in about 15 minutes.Unfortunately the waiter could not tell which was which.I didn't want briny, but everyone else did I explained. He shrugged.
After the oysters came and went,we waited. 10 minutes..25 minutes..at 30 we called the waiter over to check on our food.He said he'd go in the kitchen to check. He then immediately started bringing out the food.
All of it...and I mean ALL of it...was ice cold.Except my Scallops, which were brought out last and obviously put up last in the kitchen. We realized this was on the waiter, we asked for a manager. She came out and we told her that everything was cold...we were there over an hour & 15 minutes & we were not happy. She immediately offered to take back the cold dishes and bring out brand new ones. Less than 15 minutes later the food came out, fresh and hot (we had cut into the steak, the Gnocchi Mac and Cheese, etc...so we knew these were fresh dishes). She came back and informed us she was taking my husband's steak and all of our appetizers off the menu & apologized profusely. The food was good..not great. We did appreciate what the manager did & our bill was halved, however, that doesn't excuse the poor service, the lack of knowledge about their own dishes, etc.
This was definitely not the experience we expected. They did their best to correct it, but from the beginning...what should have been brunch was very disappointing.
