Havana Central Times Square Ratings and Reviews
We got there promptly at 6:15, Our reservation time… And had to wait 45 minutes… Many others got seated before us that have the same amount of people. 1/3 of our party had to leave Because they would not have made their show. Very frustrating that they don’t honor the reservations. We were Very kind during the situation.
This was my second visit. I love the ambiance. The food was great. The drinks were fantastic. We had a great server. My only complaint was when I was speaking to the hostess she walked away. Then another took over and she apologized for the other hostess and she was quite lovely.
I am not a big fan of going to a Times Square restaurant , however I have been here for happy hour before which are well worth the great mojitos and empanadas! Went with the family after a Broadway show and had a great time. Food was good , had the pork shank which was cooked very nicely and tasty, the daughters had the port chops which they loved and my wife vegetarian stuff peppers which she enjoyed. The one thing was the vegetarian stuff peppers was cold and needed to send it back to make it hot. Our waiter was professional and polite. It was loud mainly because of a large party which was right behind us. After they left the noise level went down were we able to hear the music being played. Thank goodness we made reservation on open table. We got our table within minutes, others with no reservations had an hour wait. Forget that. Would definitely go back.
I chose this restaurant because I love Cuban and Caribbean Latin food. It was also very convenient to parking and theters. The menu was extensive and had so many classic Cuban dishes like Moro, pernil, ropas viejas, tostónes, maduros etc. We had an appetizer of shrimp ceviche which was delicious and made just right and an appetizer of maduros (sweet plantains) which was the only disappointing thing. They were cold which leads me to believe that the weren’t fresh because you just cannot make fried sweet plátanos and have the en cold. I think they were reheated leftovers. The strawberry mojito was to die for!!! Overall great food and great experience.
I went to Havana for my birthday with my group of friends and i had a great time the food was so good. I got the shrimp mofongo and drinks at happy hour. The drinks were really good as well. My waiter was very nice and attentive. The manager was very attentive and came to our table making sure we were enjoying our time. Well i think he was the manager he was the only one that had a blue shirt on. When they came to sing happy birthday to me it was really energetic and not dry and awkward like some other restaurants. Overall i will visit again and recommend to anyone
Great food great atmosphere and great prices. Server was very dull and not very outgoing. Live Music was great but a bit noisy when sitting on the first level but the musicians were fantastic!. We arrived early and the lovely hostess at the front seated us right away without a hassle. With the exception of our waiter the staff is very outgoing, and had a fantastic energy/ vibe. Over all good experience.
Good food at reasonable prices right in the heart of Times Square. The mixed appetizer platter is a must! My family had the shredded beef and pulled pork entrees were were very good. I had the chicken and shrimp in garlic sauce and the chicken was dry so I don’t recommend that dish. I made a 630 reservation through open table and we bypassed a long wait line and finished in time for our 8pm show. Overall good option for pre/post theatre.
My last time here was on 2010, even though years has past the place still have this amazing environment. The food is great, delicious, well done with lot of flavor. And the mojitos are just the best, you can have them on a jar or glass and in both presentation they are absolute great, you actually feel the taste of rum in them, not many places serves great cocktails.
My reservation worked perfectly and I found everything amazing.
We absolutely loved our dinner at Havana Central Times Square on our recent vacation to New York! So glad we made a reservation on OpenTable in advance, as this place is very popular and busy. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and the food is incredible. Sat next to some native New Yorkers who said that it is one of their favourite restaurants. The paella was delicious! 10/10
My wife and I went there this past Thursday night , after catching a broadway show!! Reservations were at 10:00 pm, arrived at 9:30 pm, where they accommodated us with a table. Place was packed.
If you like live Latin music, looking to dance, or tasting delicious Cuban food along with Great Drinks, this is the place to go. The coconut margaritas, also the mojitos were awesome. The salmon with mango sauce was delicious
The food was fairly good, asked for a rice with chicken-lots of rice, very few pieces of chicken-. The service was poor, maybe the waitress had too many tables; just came to our table 3 times and once cause i called her. Asked for a glass of wine to two people, the guy who brought the food and a person who came to our table to asked us about the service (ironic?); they both said, your wine will come soon, it never came. Then saw our waitress, called her, told her about the wine issue, and she brought the glass of wine. The worse was the temperature the place was very cold , the day before we went to another restaurant and a very few customers were wearing jackets or coats (inside the restaurant), in this place, it was the other way around; most of the customers were wearing their coats and jackets, it was like dinning in a place where the heating system had been turned off, It felt like dining in a street corner cafeteria.
The food and service was excellent at Havana Central. Unfortunately, their heating system had broken earlier that day and no warning was given when checking in. We spent our dinner bundled in all of our winter clothes and still could not get warm. It was outrageous that they did not warn us or give us a heads up before seating us.
It was absolutely freezing inside the restaurant (even seated all the way in the dining area). We had our gloves on until the food came out. We didn’t want to eat with our coats on, but had no choice.
Great food. Wait staff very friendly, even when very busy. First round of drinks tasted much better than the second (?) Entrees were delicious. No complaints there. Great music too.
Visited NYC for the holidays and went back to Havana as that is one of our go-to-places when we visit. Mojitos were good and strong as always. Pork roast was good although the yellow rice was somewhat bland. Wife had arroz con pollo and it was a hit. Daughter had churrasco and was disappointed. Meat was cooked well done although she asked for medium. Meat was tough and charred. The fried yuca was amazing
Service was outstanding as always. Michael took care of everything as expected and made sure we didn’t miss anything
Overall it was a good meal
The atmosphere is nice, but the food isn’t authentic .....
Sorry.... Ropa Vieja is to be moist, with its sauce, not just dry shredded beef topped with peppers and onions on top, the fried yucca was too fried, and cortadito coffee wasn’t even espresso.... tasted like regular coffee with warm froth....
Thank you but not convinced.
We had reservations and were seated quickly. The service was fast and pleasant. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about menu items and was able to make good recommendations. The food was great and arrived quickly. The portions were large . Great experience !
The vegetarian food was excellent and good value for money. I thoughly enjoyed the life music. There were queues of people wanting to enter and the restaurant was jam packed. I felt pressured to leave before I wanted because the bill was placed on my table while I was still eating and before I requested it!
