Havana Central Times Square Ratings and Reviews
My family, a friend and I went to have dinner to celebrate my sister's birthday we had a great experience, food was very tasty, there was a salsa group playing alive, our waiter was attentive and kind. My second time at this restaurant nice experience!
My family and I were on a family trip to NYC
Needed a place to go before a show that was near our theater. Was not expecting much from a chain restaurant in Times Square, but we were all pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We started with the Cuban sampler and Empanada sampler, everything was delicious. I had the shrimp and saffron rice. A generous portion of shrimp and more rice than one could eat. Everyone in our group really enjoyed their food. The service was excellent and we got to the theater in plenty of time. Would definitely recommend for pre theater
Although our server was great, this first time our food came out cold. And I mean every single item. First it was the appetizers that came out cold. I didn't have it returned because I figured our meal would make up for it. But when our other dishes came out cold as well, it was very disappointing. I didn't ask our server to return the food because I just don't trust what goes on behind closed doors when you return food. Aside from that, the food was tasty, just cold :-(
For the prices this place has, I would expect the food to be hot when brought to the table and well cooked. I had the chicken and shrimp al ajilla, the chicken was dry and the ajillo (garlic) was more of a watery taste. My boyfriend had the vaca frita, it was more like vaca fria. I recommend you order individual drinks rather then pitchers because the pitcher is watered down. The waiter seemed rushed and messed up or drink order - I understand it was a evening and packed but come on at least get the order right.
Food and service were excellent. I had the Sugarcane Lime Chicken Salad, and it was delicious; my husband had the Chicken and Rice with black beans, and enjoyed it very much. Portions were large. The atmosphere was very nice, and considering it is a chain, and in a touristy area, we pleasantly surprised at the quality. I would definitely go back to try more of the menu next time we are in to see a show.
We had a fantastic pre-theater dinner on Wednesday evening. The shrimp ceviche was tasty, the empanadas were terrific, and our main courses were great. Our frozen mango margaritas were made exactly to specifications, and the mojitos were out of this world. Our server, Maria, was friendly, warm, helpful and efficient, and she helped to make our dinner even more enjoyable.
Was looking for a unique dinner spot near our show "The Play that goes Wrong" and this was a great find. There was a wide selection of cuban dishes. The specialty Sangria was delicious. We had a few appetizers that were really good, Plantain boats, Empanadas and Shrimp Ceviche. I would definitely eat here again.
The only fault we had was the bucket of chicken wings to start. Great variety of dipping sauces but there were so many both my son and I failed to finish our main course. You may ask how this is a fault, but if you tasted our skirt steak main course you would understand our dismay at not being able to finish it. Would whole heatedly recommend, we went for our last supper in NYC and were not disappointed.
Food was amazing, HOT SAUCE WAS DELICIOUS! Pretty sure my sister and I emptied the bottle for our pollo asado. Mojito is garnished with fresh sugar cane which made my Caribbean heart really happy. And the waiters sang happy birthday to my friend! It was amazing and my friends all enjoyed their time and our bellies did too!
The atmosphere and setting were fun and full of energy. Service was good except for no action taken when told of dissapointment with meal. We ordered various chicken dishes and although there was decent flavor, the chicken was very dry. I did not finish my meal. I did mention it to the waitress but there was no effort to take the meal off the bill or offer desert. Despite the meal, it was a fun place and hopefully a one off on the chicken.
We love Cuban food. We eat it often in Florida. We were excited to visit Havana Central in midtown NYC. The mojitos were great. And our server, Ivan, was outstanding. Unfortunately, not all of our meals were outstanding. My vaca frita was great. My wife's palomilla skirt steak was a bit tough. We would definitely give it a second chance when back in NYC.
The food was terrible. The service worse and the server could not have cared any less about it. Got drinks wrong. Got orders wrong. Had to ask several times for replacement order while rest got cold. Would NEVER go again and hope I can save others from going. So far from Cuban food it was not funny 👎
Excellent find in the Broadway area. The service is okay, not too friendly and slow. The bathrooms need to be checked more regularly and the music is way too loud! Yet the food is tasty and the prices are excellent for a Manhattan restaurant. Will definitely go back.
