Havana Carolina Restaurant and Bar
Our distinctive Cuban cuisine is a fusion of many varied elements of Native American Taino, Spanish, African, French, Arabic, Chinese and Portuguese spices and food techniques. Our blend of Caribbean ingredients is added to elevate each unique dish to a different level. The most important ingredient in each recipe is “love”.
Havana Carolina Restaurant & Bar is Cuban family-owned and operated. It flaunts the endeavor, the courage and the strength of those who look for success in new places. At Havana Carolina, we focus on creating a unique dining experience which allows each one of our customers to travel in time and spend a day in our old and glamorous Cuba. This “Cuban Paradise” is not just a restaurant or a business, it’s an experience and a feeling. It’s Cuba in its essence.
Great food and great people!
The service was good and the food was tasty. Price was reasonable as well. Would like to go back for the music some Saturday.
This restaurant is somewhat hard to find. It's inside of an old retail building off of Union Street in the back. But once you find it, you're warmly greeted by the staff. The food is decent and so is the sangria. My husband and I didn't have the best service, but it was terrible either. We would go back again.
Food is delicious at least what we had. Only problem with this place is it lacks management. I not sure but it looks like a family decided to go into the restaurant business because mom/dad/brother/whomever whips up food at home that is awesome and everyone kept telling them they should open a restaurant! Woe nelly; more to it than delicious food but yet here we are. I’m sure they’ll figure it out hopefully and hire a professional manager who can help them get things running smooth and teach them so they can fly on their own. I could be totally wrong, but I didn’t see anyone who looked like they were “running the place”.
Two waitresses, young ladies who you could tell were giving it the yogi bear “pick it up as we go boo boo” were so sweet and kind, but within a few minutes of us being seated and ordering the place filled up and they became overwhelmed quickly. We ordered the sampler appetizer (12.99). Two entrees that came out within a decent amount of time but brought with them the realization that the appetizer wasn’t going to make it. We didn’t get drink refill until the very end when we asked for the tab. I noticed the two girls talking by the register station the one pointing out to our waitress that she had in fact forgotten our appetizer so I made a point to check the tab since it was a discussion topic. I noticed she had not changed for the drinks so I brought it to her attention that it was omitted. She said “no problem, it is ok, you two made my day”. HUH?! Unspoken compensation for the forgotten appetizer is more likely. When you look at it, they cost themselves 12.99 and then tossed in two free teas. We felt bad, so we added the tea to the 20% gratuity and said thank you.
We enjoyed the whole deal, screw-ups and all. The food is great and we want to try other dishes. I giving it a 4 star as it isn’t fine dining and who cares about the service! Be interesting to watch the place mature. We’re going back!
It was a great little place with great food and great service. Definitely going to come back.
I had never had Cuban food before, but I found it to be very flavorful and tender. My picky husband loved everything we got to eat.. from appetizers to main course!
Everything we tried was great (except the Margarita) and the authentic family feel was refreshing. Great service with a smile.
Quirky little bar area with live music on a weekend night. “Hidden gem”
