Haute Restaurant & Lounge
I tried to call for two days at various times only to get an answering machine. I left one message requesting a call back to discuss the location of the restaurant as every map service was unclear. Never heard back from them. Furthermore, traffic was horrendous so we ended up being late (I tried to call 10 minutes before the time of the reservation -answering machine again). We had theater tickets that night so we ended up going someplace else. So we never went to Haute and I question how important they feel customers are to their business.
We will not return. The food was not prepared as described in the menu. While our server was pleasant she did not ask if we wanted drinks or dessert. It was very dark with way too many TV screens
The drink menu was limited
They ran out of napkins
We had to ask for utensils for each course
The noise level was too loud because of the scent that was going on at the same time. This was restaurant week. Either have the event or have restaurant week. Not at the same time
The lighting was poor. The table candle was being brought to our table as ae were leaving
There was no regular menu. What if we didn't want the restaurant week menu
One positive was that the food wasn't bad
We went for restaurant week. For some reason they decide to have an event during restaurant week. Only 3 tables were actually being used to people having dinner. The rest of the place was used for the event. The music was super loud. I could barely hear the waitress or my fiancé across the table. The food we received was delicious but the amount was definitely not worth the cost. This was a one and done place for me.
We had reservations but were not seated on time. That may have been understandable if the restaurant was packed, but there were only about 5 tables occupied.
When the hostess finally seated us, she did so at a table that still had the dirty dishes from the previous diners, complete with shrimp tails and everything!
Needless to say, we walked out.
We had reservations for Restaurant Week. I called approximately an hour before to confirm validated parking and the reservation. Once we arrived the hostess (who was clueless) told us there was private event and we could not be seated. We explained we have a reservation and she said there was nothing she could do. We then asked for a manager, 10 mins later hostess is back, no manager! We ask for the manager again, hostess wonders off for another five mins and we decided to just leave. This was very frustrating. Especially after driving around for 30mins for parking. Black owned restaurants, we have to do better
Unfortunately I want to write a good review to support a black business, but I can’t. I waited over an hour and half to receive my food. They kept forgetting to refill my cup of water and my small requests for lemon and condiments. The food was over seasoned. And lastly the service was terrible. Not warm and friendly. Not going back again.
Service was horrible. Dinner took over 3 hours. Drinks were over priced. The food, however, was delicious.
Ambiance was very warm and cozy
Drinks were awesome
Service was prompt and awesome.
Dined out for Philadelphia Restaurant Week with a co-worker this week and choose Haute Restaurant - it's part lounge/bar, part upscale American dining with some soul food influences, although, unfortunately, no cornbread or any bread on the table - too many gluten free people have ruined the bread basket for the rest of us!
I did however enjoy my 4 courses:
Black Baby Kale Ceasar salad w/ anchovies
(Would have liked a little more dressing and croutons )
Tangy BBQ Pulled Pork with coleslaw slider (pork tender, but slaw was just a little too course for me)
Shrimp & Grits & Greens (everything perfectly seasoned. And loved that the grits were the consistency of Polenta)
My co-worker ordered the vegan option: Cauliflower Steak which was really just a grilled mountain of cauliflower. I admire her for trying it, but I would have sent it back. I have a vegan friend who can make surprisingly good meat-like dishes out of vegetables, this was not that😄
Dessert: warm made to order Cookie with Icecream 😋
I enjoyed my experience. The services was good and the food was very good. However, it could have been more light. It was too dark for me.
Me and my cousin don’t see each other much but we had a great time meeting here. It was super cute and stylish we had a great time and the service was excellent. Will definitely come bk and also maybe host a event here
We went during restaurant week and the service was terrible. We sat at the table for 30 mins before any water was put at the table or our orders were taken. There wasn't any bread or anything to distract you either. Our appetizers didn't come out til an hour into us being seated, mind you we got salads! The salads were small and sad looking and not worth the hour wait. Our waitress didn’t check on us until our entrees came out another 30 mins later. We had to ask multiple times for basic things like water and napkins. The food was okay, but definitely not worth the wait and service. The wait would have been understandable if it was packed or a busy night, but it was relatively empty. We actually watched people get up and walkout before ordering. I won’t be recommending this place to anyone and probably wouldn’t eat here again.
Walking into Haute I thought I was going to become a regular. The menu looked amazing, the ambiance was amazing, and the staff was extremely kind.
Unfortunately, on the night that I went there, service was not so great. My reservation was at 8pm, I showed up around 7:40-7:45 and was seated by 7:50, but didn’t get the first course of my meal until 9pm or later. Drinks came up right away but the food just took forever. I’d say we ordered around 8:30 maybe. When the food finally came out, the salad was literally a handful of leaves and maybe 5 mini crutons which is fine, but not when you’ve waited 30min for your food.
So the second course comes out maybe 20min after the first (I ordered pork sliders; notice the ‘s’ in “sliders”) and I was served one slider. Luckily the staff delivered the food when they did because at that point we were literally about get up from our seats and leave. I stated my confusion surrounding the order with one of the servers who had been coming to our table and she informed her manager. The first server came back and said our second round of drinks were on the house, then the second server came out and quoted the same but also offered another slider per their manager. This also confused me because we had two people now checking in on us and saying different things which makes me think about their teamwork and communication with one another.
The third course came out much more swiftly, which may have been due to our expressed concerns. The food was great though.
I was utterly disappointed by this service. At some point we were told they were backed up, but there were literally only about 10 tables including us throughout the 2.5hrs we spent in the restaurant. Maybe they were a few staff short in the kitchen? Or maybe their service just isn’t great? Either way, I was very disappointed and will not return. So much for trying something new.
The food tasted great, but it took forever to come out. Almost worth the wait UNTIL I waited over 40 minutes for a dessert that never came out. Big time lack of service at this restaurant, no host/hostess to greet/seat people, 1 bartender doing the job of everyone. This place was a big disappointment, the taste of the food almost made up for all the problems, almost.
The food was really good and the service was great
When I arrived for my 6pm reservation, there was no host & I had to wait 10 mins for someone to appear from the back. There was only one person seating guests, taking orders, making drinks & delivering food to the tables. The clam chowder was too salty, the mussels were okay & the grits for the shrimp & grits were still gritty. Asked for mashed potatoes as a substitute & waited for over 30 mins for them to be delivered to the table. Let's just say that I didn't even wait for dessert.
The establishment was not at all upscale, I was very disappointed.
Food was not up to par for a review. Most of the food was so bad in taste, and salty. Salad was a disappointed, roasted eggplant with few pieces of lettuce on top and few string of carrot. Dressing is like is mostly vinegar and salt. New England chowder is canned good and just warm up on the stove. Mussels are from package, just reheated and added salt without any bread like other restaurant, maybe it is a good thing since I don't want to consume all that added salt to the mussels anyway. Then come Shrimp and Grits, mostly the same, package or canned good, nothing made in house. Bartender is so inexperience with drink menu and very expensive. Overall, the restaurant is overrated and not worth the price.
FIRST TIME THERE WENT DURING RESTAURANT WEEK...WOULD GO AGAIN
We never got to eat there. We had an early reservation (5:30 PM) made and confirmed via OpenTable and when we arrived the restaurant wasn't open for business. There was some type of training going on. Not being told that they were not going to be open when I made the reservation was quite bad and subsequently put a wrench in the balance of the evening. We now had to find another place to eat before going to a play. Needless to say, our night got off to a really bad start.
Haute is an absolutely stunning restaurant, with gorgeous decor. The music was great and the environment was clean and well cared for.
What threw me off was the lack of availability for reservations only to find out that NO other patrons would enter the restaurant for the entire evening.
The drinks were delish, the salmon sliders were amazing, the mussels were fresh but the white sauce was more like butter and way too much seasoning salt.
So yes I would recommend and I would even go back. The service was friendly and accommodating and again I love, love, love the ambiance and decor.
Nice spot and ambience. The food is excellent.
I was soooo disappointed. I was looking forward to trying this restaurant despite negative reviews so I made reservations for 7/24/2019, for my birthday no less. After traveling within Center City after work traffic, driving around to find parking in an not so inexpensive parking garage, arrived at the restaurant only to find that it was CLOSED! Days before as well as the day of, I had checked the website and even attempted to call the day before, to mitigate any surprises. There was not an iota of mention on their website that there would not be open, and there was an automated greeting with the phone call, which also had NO indication that they would be closed on that day. Again, soooo very disappointing.
Haute is a nice restaurant but it was empty during my visit. I came around 4:30 p.m. (open at 4). Others did not start to come in until around 6 p.m. So although it was just myself and my dinning companion; it took about an hour for my meal to arrive. They really need to improve on service output to get the food to you quicker. I ordered the pork chops with puree sweet potatoes and green beans. The meal was tasty and cooked to my liking. For dessert I had carrot cake which was moist and very good. However they only had two options that night (carrot cake and cheese cake although menu has other items listed). I think this could be a great restaurant option with some minor improvements in service. Perhaps more advertisement to draw a crowd in. I really don't like going to restaurants that don't have a crowd. It can be a little boring when it's only you in the whole restaurant. But it is a great location.
We didn’t realize it was Black Restaurant Week. We decided to stay and enjoyed an appetizer, entree and desert for $35. The ambiance was nice and the cocktails were delicious!
The servers lack training. They were nice, but unbelievably slow, non attentive. It was nearly empty, but it took over 20 mins for the appetizers (salad/clam chowder). They kept forgetting to bring silverware, asked for coffee at the end, it never came. Two additional guest arrived, and though it was empty they were left standing 15 mins before being told there was no place to put them due to scheduled reservations. Finally they sat themselves at the low table across from us, then the server came and said "oh, I can bring you a chair to put at the table." (Yes, that would be nice, smh!) So we were able to make room, but then their food was nearly an hour behind ours although they came in 10 mins behind us. Again, I feel it's a lack of training, they simply do not know how to serve or attend to their guest.
My sister recommended this restaurant. She went during the first week of Black Restaurant Week. I went the second week. I ordered the same meal that she ordered- - lollipop lamp chops which came with mashed potatoes and spinach. She received 3 lamp chops and I received 2 lamp chops. The mashed potatoes was not hot but the spinach was delicious.
The wait staff very friendly and helpful. The food was tasty the lighting was to dark for me and the ladies bathroom really needs help.( get it fixed)
A friend and I visited on 6/19 to partake in black restaurant week. Unfortunately we will not be returning. The place is beautifully decorated. Service was very poor. Our waiter was also the bar tender and greeter, therefore little attention was paid to us. My friend asked for pepper and nevwr received it. There was no discussion of the menu from the waiter. One of the appetizers, clam chowder, took over an hour to come, and ended up going home with us. The food was just ok. A 20% gratuity is added to every bill, even if you just order a drink from the bar.
Food was delicious, kudos to the chef!! The mussels and lamb chops were both delicious. I left full and satisfied. Service started out slow and bathroom needed attention but everything else was good. Will definitely return.
This place is fabulous! I had dinner with two friends and all of us loved our meal. Two of us had the mussels entree, which was delicious. I had the quinoa entree and my friends had the baby lamb chops. The quinoa bowl had scrumptious sauteed vegetables and a perfect and light sauce. My friends thought the baby lamb chops were cooked exactly to order and tender. One friend ordered a Cosmo. When she followed up on the order with our waitress, the waitress took the initiative and made it herself. My friend said it was the best she had ever had and asked the waitress, instead of the bartender, to make another one. The waitress did so; now that's costumer service par excellence!! A fantastic experience!
Would recommend for happy hour or cocktails. Dinner was mediocre. Service was ok.
We decided to come for Black Restaurant Week and were really disappointed in the their portions for $35. Alexis our waitress was awesome but the food left us wanting more
Good food. They need more waiters tho.
Pork chop with broccoli and sweet potato
The service was spotty early because there was only one employee taking care of the tables. Later, a second person came in and things picked up. The food was very good. We were there on Friday night and it was not very busy at all. I would definitely go back.
Haute was a very pleasant surprise. The fact that we were the only people there may be a function of the restaurant's not-immediately-visible entrance. We ordered one salad to share among 3 of us, and after we ordered, the waiter informed us that there was no romaine in the house, and would a kale/spinach substitute be acceptable? As one of our group can't eat kale or spinach, we tried to order another salad, but the waiter said the chef would go out to get the romaine. The salad that arrived at our table was both generous and delicious. We had 3 different entrees, and all were very good. The chef came out to inquire as to how we were enjoying the meal, and we thanked him profusely for literally going the distance for the romaine. I hope this restaurant starts attracting more people--we had a lovely dining experience, and the staff couldn't have been nicer and more attentive.
Girlfriends birthday. Place was kinda empty and no music at first to be a bar lounge. But the DJ came and the experience began to liven up. Although he needs to spin more than Ashanti and Beyoncé all night.
If you're not familiar with the area, the building would be hard to find. A more visible sign needs to be placed outside. We were greeted by a gentleman at the door who was quite welcoming, but I think he should be dressed more appropriately. He was wearing jeans and a flannel shirt. The feel I get from the restaurant is mature and sexy. He's the host and his attire doesn't match the essence of the restaurant.
Our waitress was also welcoming and attentive, but again her attire was off. She had on a black mini dress that was quite short. The dress was fine, but I think it should have been a little bit more below the knee.
I visited the Ladies Restroom and it needs some TLC
The best part was THE FOOD!! IT IS DELICIOUS!!!!!
I had the Roasted Veggie Salad and Grilled Salmon....STUPID GOOD!!
My husband had the Grilled Lamb Chops and Grilled Pork Chop. THOSE LAMB CHOPS THOUGH!!!
Standing ovation to the chef!! He is definitely doing his thing in the kitchen.
Our overall experience was quite pleasing, oh except the waitress didn't offer us the dessert menu. She took remove our dishes after we were done eating and returned with the check. I was like oh, well maybe they don't serve dessert. Then I looked at the menu online and there is dessert. I guess she just forgot.
Again, our experience was enjoyable. Just a few things need to be tightened up to complete the overall feel and look of the restaurant, but I'll definitely be back
