Love the outdoor setting. Listening to the waves and the music is just perfect. The menu isn't extensive but I feel like they have something for everyone. I wasn't super hungry so I got the Makai Salad. WOW!!! Such a powerhouse of a salad. So good! It has lettuce, quinoa, edamame, hearts of palm, mango, Mac nuts and a bunch of other stuff. So Ono! And you can add a protein if you like but again... I wasn't super hungry so this salad hit the spot. This and a glass of wine was perfect.

Very nice place on the beach. Watch the sunset times and you will see an beautiful sunset. Don’t sit by bar, rude and loud tourists can be distracting when drunk. Food and service was perfect! Celebrating anniversary there and no complaints other than the bar. It’s a long walk from hotel entrances, lots of stairs and ramps, short elevator ride down but must be able to walk to the beach and up/down steep grades. Great place and worth the walk!

This place is a hidden gem! Conor was an excellent server - very attentive and welcoming. The service was extremely efficient. You could not ask for a more beautiful setting! We had an amazing view of the sunset. We will definitely be back again on our next trip to Hawaii!

The view was absolutely stunning. Right on the beach at a quiet resort. The food was just okay. The shrimp was good but my mother ordered chickwn and it was very dry. Portions were small for the price. Our server was nice, but we went the whole meal without refills. Overall, it was just okay.

Was raining a bit when we arrived …they had big patio umbrellas and towels for everyone to sit on…nice touch. We ordered some appetizers and had cocktails all were really good. The weather cleared and we had a best sunset. Love this place for a casual bite and drink!

Hau Tree is the perfect for casual dining on the beach with delicious and carefully prepared food. The Mauna Kea resort is gorgeous and this is their simplest restaurant, but it meets all Kohala dining needs - great view, great food, nice people. Looking forward to next time we can get there!

Given the quality of the “attached” hotel, our expectations for service and food quality exceeded what we experienced. The ambiance was excellent but given our disappointment with the dinner and service and how far “out of the way” this was, we would not return or recommend.

The flies there were horrible. We later saw some other waitress’s put fans to help with their customers table flies. We had to use our hands to swat them away and we just wanted to eat our food and get out of there as fast as we could. Couldn’t enjoy the whole experience because of the flies. Food was good, experience was horrible.

Lani our server was very friendly. I had the sashimi. Fish was average but the presentation was amateurish as the fish slices were different sizes. I had the Korean short rib. The Chinese five spice flavor was out of place and the meat was very dry.
