Since 1938, Hattie’s has served fine Southern and Louisiana cuisine in a friendly, downhome
atmosphere, earning legions of fans for the past 85 years. Over its long history,
Hattie’s has provided consistent commitment to its customers, staff, and community
across several locations in the Capital Region of New York. Currently, customers can
enjoy the Hattie’s experience at the original restaurant in Downtown Saratoga Springs,
a quick service offering in Wilton Plaza, and a seasonal location at the Saratoga
RaceTrack and now at the Historic Lombardos landmark in Albany!

We are strong supporters of visiting locally owned restaurants and want these restaurants to succeed. After our visit to Hattie’s (which was our second visit in less than a year), it would surprise us if this restaurant survives much longer. While the interior atmosphere of this restaurant is quite attractive, the location of the restaurant is in a very questionable part of town. Perhaps a rebirth of this neighborhood is in the making but at this moment it appears the neighborhood is struggling with extreme poverty. While we were greeted by a very friendly host, our server had very little personality and seemed disinterested in serving our table. The food was decent but the ‘wow’ factor was missing to support the moderately to high priced fried chicken. Overall this place has great potential and the financial backing (based on local news reports) and experience to succeed but for our party of 4 we left unimpressed with no need to return.

Our party had the fried catfish, steak and chicken and ribs combo, they were enjoyed by all. Chicken needless to say is second to none. Waitress was excellent. Look forward to coming back.

I was wary of trying a southern restaurant in New York but Mattie’s has good southern food, served with style.

Absolutely excellent food! Great choices for cocktails, appetizers, entrees and dessert! Very friendly staff and nice and comforting decor. Love that staff know there are paintings from the former restaurant, Lombardo's, across the room!

What a gem. From the smiles and greetings by everyone staff member we dealt with to the fantastic cocktails and delicious food. Everything was exactly as it should be. The restaurant was super busy the whole time we were there but everyone worked hard and together to keep things moving. Our waitress thanked us for our patience, but nothing to apologize for in our opinion. Food came out piping hot and wonderful. If it took an extra couple of minutes—who cares? We felt very lucky and taken care of. Can’t wait to go back.
