Great food and service. My boyfriend & I had a great time
Our server was trying to be on top of things but he kept interrupting our conversations the entire night. After a while, our eaten dishes were stacking up and he didn’t bother to pick them up. We could use some clean plates half way through dinner and once again, our server did not seem to notice.
All in all, service was lacking and the food was mediocre!
They were out of halfback it the menu. Wait staff was all over the place. Hopefully it will get better
I love coming here. Not just standard options, more inventive fare.
Skewers are super well done and service is on point. Great energy in the space. Love it.
We are from Montana and have enjoyed Yakitori all over the world. Hatch is the tops in food quality and innovative menus. The flavor is perfect with the correct amount of spice. The only thing the exceeds the food is the wait staff, helpful and you never have have an empty glass or plate. We first ate at Hatch right after he opened and now it is packed. If you do not eat at Hatch then you are missing a life time experience. Our only disappointment was it was the owners night off
Great food and drinks, but it’s a chain in a strip mall.
Very innovative menu that was delicious. Suggest you sit at counter and enjoy the show.
As lovely as the ambience and the service was. The food was not v good the skewers were over cooked and the brownie was awful. I love yakiniku and was so excited about a new spot to open but the food was not good as all. The raw food was good.
It’s pretty loud in the restaurant mostly bc of the design of the room. The food was good but slightly overpriced. If you sit at the counter you don’t really get to see the grill action as it’s more on the side in the kitchen.
Chicken was dry and pretty awful. Oysters were the best dish.
Great food, great atmosphere, great time.
The food was fantastic, the service was terrific, it was my first time to eat there.
I will come back often!
Good for quick bite before show or wven at Staples while exploring the new plaza. The restaurant is too dark and you cannot see what you are eating. They try to be creative with their menu, but I have had better yakitori elsewhere with wider variety.
Food was good! The chicken meatball stick was one of my favs. I'll definitely be back. The staff were all quite nice. Only thing is it's a bit dark in the back half of the restaurant.
Sleek design and good lightning. Friendly service, but music was way too loud, thus ruined the dining experience. Nothing is worse than having to repeat yourself over and over along with your date having to do the same.
This is a restaurant concept--not a club.
Valentines dinner. I was disappointed because I called the day before and they said we could order off of the regular menu instead of the set menu, but when I got there they said we had to have the set menu which was $120 for two people. It was a fantastic meal though, I was happy. They gave roses out to all of the women during the meal. It was very cute and the atmosphere was perfectly romantic.
So damn good.
Take the gin, on a rock.
Order all of it.
Blown away at how good it was.
And try their house sake
And order the oysters.
And the avocado toast
And the chicken with green onion
And the chicken plate.
It was all exceptional.
Really great and friendly staff!!
Hatch is an undiscovered foodies dream. Everyone is passionate about food and the flavors are spectacular. It’s one of my favorite restaraunts in LA, and as much as I love them being unknown they deserve to have wait lists around the block every night.
Good experience.. a bit over priced
Not familiar with the area so it was hard to find parking at first. But the place was very cute and cozy. I think it's nice for a date night but it was hard to have a conversation because the music is a bit loud. Didn't know what to expect with the food but everything was tasty. We tried the dinela experience and it was enjoyable. Server was ok not too friendly initially cuz he tried to sell us to order different food instead of the dinela. We ended up spending more than we expected as well but it was a fun nonetheless.
So good everything was absolutely delicious and the staff is beyond friendly
What a find! There is certainly no shortage of dining options in LA, but I'm glad we decided to check out HATCH. It's a trendy little downtown spot with amazing yakitori and great service. We sat at the counter, and struck up a conversation with the Chef, who was expediting all night. He was incredibly knowledgeable and personable, and his passion for his craft was immediately evident.
As for the food? We visited during Discover LA week, and were treated with a multi-course, Prix Fixe meal for $39/person. It was a nice sampling of the menu, with each course even more memorable than the last. Starting out with the Miso Spare Ribs, which were so tender they were barely hanging onto the bone. The Black Kaarage chicken with black ranch dipping sauce was a huge favorite. The chicken meatball with egg yolk dipping sauce was incredibly creative to the point where I was surprised I had never encountered anything similar before.
If I lived in LA, I'd certainly be stopping here before any event at the Staple Center.
First time at this place. Took advantage of the dinela dinner menu and was really impressed with it. Will def be back.
My husband and I came here on a Saturday night around 6:45pm. It wasn't busy yet considering the numerous empty tables. The restaurant is very modern, trendy and clean. We were seated immediately and were given a couple menus.
We both really enjoyed the food here. What we didn't enjoy was the extremely long waits in between food delivery. We ordered a bunch of their "sticks" aka yakitori and the miso ribs. The ribs came out pretty fast and were so good and quickly devoured. Then we waited maybe 15 to 20 minutes for one stick to come out (chicken heart), then we waited some more before our second stick came out and so forth.
I get that the food is probably brought out as they're done cooking, but when you order 5 sticks at a time, it'd be preferred to get them delivered at the same time so a couple can enjoy their meal together than one stick at a time.
I will also say that all the servers and wait staff were super friendly which makes me not want to say I didn't have a great experience here. But, the wait time in between plates was very disappointing and our dinner took much longer than it probably should have.
I’ve returned here three times, each time hoping the service would be better, but it only gets worse. This last time it took almost 30 for someone to come back and take our order. The menu is interesting and food is good but not cheap. Lunch for two, if no alcohol, will likely exceed $50 and it’ll take all of two hours. I also had to flag someone else to get the check. I’m never going back and won’t recommend.
I'm a foodie and I love Hatch. I hope it gets the notice it should but at the same time, I'm glad its not packed yet so I can easily stop by without a reservation and get food quickly.
The service was awesome, the ambiance is nice. The food was absolutely phenomenal, it was so delicious and well executed and presented. I’ll be back time and time again.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. A bit pricey considering you order skewers at a time.
Great food and service in a great spot in DTLA. The cement walls and close proximity of the tables made it a little loud. Would definitely go agaiy
great service, reasonable prices for food and drinks . everything was super tasty
Mediocre food. Service wasnt great. Had to ask a few times for or items.
Hatch Yakitori + Bar was a great new find for lunch. My party of 3 sat outside at the high tables and bar stools because inside was freezing. We ordered the Hamachi plate, the fried black rice, and several skewers including maitake mushrooms, mushroom party, eggplant, shishito peppers, potatoes, and the pork belly. The Hamachi and fried rice were delicious and enough to share. Each skewer order is intended to be 3 bites, and theoretically can be shared among 3 people, but the "bites" are small and flavors are excellent, so I'd suggest a skewer per person, at least for certain items like the mushroom party. The maitake mushroom was a special item, being considered for the permanent menu. I hope it makes it, it was delicious and one of my favorites of the meal. The orders came out slowly and one at a time, so it wasn't until the fried rice appeared at the end that I finally feel satisfied.
Tourist trap. Not traditional yakitori. I’d drive 5-10 min to little Tokyo for real yakitori next time
Amazing food. Fun to eat. Sunday special black chicken sandwich is the best
This place is such a hidden gem. LA definitely needs to get on the HATCH train because this place is ridiculously delicious. My friends that were visiting from The Bay area wholeheartedly agree. We cleaned up all our plates with mach speed haha. Will definitely be back!
Super expensive pricing for small portions of food
Food is interesting but delicious. Waiter was helpful but a little too aggressive for my taste. Carafes for sake are pretty small. Happy hour prices are good.
Great first izakaya in LA
