A little bit over decorated and overpriced. Fish selection is fine. Feel too much into fusion style instead of pure Japanese style.

Hashiri is a beautiful restaurant with great food. If you are interested in Kaiseki then definelty go one of the nights like we did. The nigiri dishes we had were pretty good too. Most memorable dish was the Maguro dipped in soy quail egg mixture, very very good.

We did the Kaiseki experience. The first two courses were amazing, but the rest were mixed. Most were very good, but a few were just ordinary. We paid $900+ for 2 people. At that price, everything should have been extraordinary.

food is great and we enjoyed it a lot. The taste and cuisines are uniquely found out of the omakase I have eaten in Bay Area.

We had such a wonderful dinner here. Every item on their several course set menu was amazing. The entire staff collaborated to explain each dish and our wine/sake pairings. The nigiri is the best I’ve ever had (even including our Tokyo trip!). We spent around 2.5 hrs but it flowed well and we never felt like we had been there too long. Amazing decor and service. We’ll go back for sure!

I agree with some of the research that I did going into the experience, I didn’t care too much for the kaiseki portion though it was still good. But the nigiri was amazing and I only wish the $250 tasting menu felt like a better value. Might come back in the future, after I’ve had the chance to dine at other high end sushi establishments in San Francisco.

Good food and nice ambience, but very pricey and not as good as other places. If you're looking for an unforgettable Japanese dining experience in SF, I would recommend Omakase or Ju-Ni. If you want to go, be prepared to spend $550-$650 per person to truly enjoy it.

Appetizer courses were good but fairly forgettable. 3-5 small bites in each of two courses, of which only 1 bite was really noteworthy. Grilled wagyu beef and vegetables was really good. Nigiri courses were great, but I would have rather had more nigiri and less of the appetizer course. Also, Omakase and Ju-Ni charge less for their tasting menus and have nigiri that is at least as good. Dessert was great, though.

In addition to being generally underwhelmed, one experience in particular stood out as particularly off-putting:

First, I tried to order a reasonably priced and delicious bottle of sake that I had had before. The waiter said that they were out of it and that they were also out of three of the other four bottles from that producer that they had listed on the menu. He then recommended the only bottle from that producer that they had in stock, which was 3x the price of the bottle I was originally interested in. Most waiters and sommeliers will take the price of a bottle you suggest as an indication, but not here. After I rejected the hyper-expensive bottle, he recommended another bottle that was much cheaper but still more expensive than the one I had originally ordered. I had a sample of both the sake he recommended and of one of the cheapest ones they offered to make sure I could tell the difference. The cheaper bottle was not very good, despite being priced above $80. The more expensive one was indeed delightful, but I later saw two other tables with it, which makes me wonder why they were pushing it so hard and charging so much for it. Before I had taken a single bite of food, I felt like I had already worked hard and was maybe being taken in by a racket.

It does a make a great impression, from the decor to the impeccable service. The food caliber, however, was roughly the same as some of the high end kaiseki and sushi omakase experience, but priced noticeably more. It's a great one time experience, personally, but I don't feel I was blown away overall.

There is something spiritual about the experience they've cultivated at Hashiri. The atmosphere is serene, the service is attentive and informative and gracious, and every single bite of every course is delicious. We ordered the mixed sake/wine pairings, and had some really cool styles of wine and sake that we'd never come across before. This was an extremely expensive dinner, but it was absolutely worth it.

In many ways very special place. But there is a disconnect between price and quality. Some of the dishes uninspired and the one beef dish on the menu inexplicably tasteless. They have one Michelin star but will really need to up their offerings if they want to improve on that. Elegant space.

We could not have been more pleased with Hashiri, we went for my husbands 30th birthday and were blown away by the food and the service. We did the regular menu with the Sakai pairing - in hindsight probably only needed 1 Sakai pairing because it was very generous and we left quite buzzed, but if you’re going to spend that kind of money on dinner it would be a shame to miss out on the pairing.

Terrible sushi. Even worse than take out food. Embarrassing for a place like this and the price they charge. We tired the $250 option. The value is less than $100. Strongly recommend avoiding this one unless they improve the sushi side. Super disappointed tonight
