   It was great to return to the Moutain Lake Lodge and see all of the improvements that have been made. We listened to wonderful music in the new Salt Pond Pub and then relaxed in front of the House of Moody fire place, yes it was cold on May 28. Our dinner was great and the waitress, Hailee, was wonderful.

   The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for a romantic dinner with my fiancée. The jalapeño bacon wrapped quail was fantastic and the whole experience was excellent. I highly recommend Harvest!

   Was there for Breakfast and Dinner, the weekend is Buffet Style the first morning our reservation was at 930 and the food was just warm and the second day we was there at 830 and the food was hot and very good. For Dinner we had the cheese tray for appetizers and my wife had the Maryland Crab Cake and it was the best Crab Cake she has ever had, I the Elk Medallions and the Quail wrapped in bacon and it both was really good. The service was excellent. I wanted the Bison burger but they was out of Bison.

    The Crab cake was great as was my wife’s bison cheeseburger. We sat on the porch and overlooked the grounds. Only downside was the crab cake did not come with any vegetables or sides of any kind. All sides were extra.

    Unfortunately the restaurant decided to switch from a la crate buffet and we were not informed. This may work for some, but it was not the experience we wanted for our daughter's graduation weekend. The food was average. Very disappointed.

    I spent $230 with tip for the buffet for my wife, daughter and myself. The food was not hot at all, some barely warm, the prime rib was very dry and not seasoned properly (almost tasteless) and the steak for extremely tough. The entire buffet was a disappointment, including the deserts. However, the waitress (Meredith) was very nice. I did not complain to her because it was not her fault. You really do need to make some improvements.

    The ambiance is lovely, the servers are trying to do their best but it seems they’re really understaffed. As for the food, one day we had the “Italian buffet” which was absolutely horrible. It was actually “bad southern” style food — tasteless and cheap ingredients. My daughter said the chicken parmigiana tasted like frozen chicken fingers with bottled sauce on top. The veg. lasagna was mushy with like frozen vegetable mix in it, the “Italian” green beans were NOT Italian — they were overly-boiled or perhaps even canned flat green beans that also tasted like bad southern-style cooking. The day before was like bar food — barbecue wings decent black bean burgers. Undercooked frozen fries. We absolutely LOVE the lodge itself, the cute coffee place (Mary’s Market), cozy bar; and the cabins and nature all around are wonderful. But the food at Harvest has gone downhill from the last time we were there in 2021 even though the “chef” is the same. Simple food prepared well would have been fine — we are not snobs —but this food was just awful. You’d think they could get more quality ingredients from local farms, etc., but they do not. It’s hard to find places to eat in the area in general. MLL really needs to up their game if they want to keep their clients happy. I hope they do because it’s such a special place otherwise.

    Very disappointed. Menu looked good but arrived to find it was buffet only. As it was already 7:30 and we were now 30 minutes out of town, we stayed. Only option for my vegetarian daughter was "baked ziti" which consisted of pasta with a little red sauce and a little cheese. They ran out of asparagus (the only vegetable). None of the other dishes were great. I could make all of them better myself, and I'm no chef. Only dessert other than pie was cobbler, which they were out of. We should have asked the price first, as my wife and daughter hardly ate, and at $40 a head it was a total rip off. Ambiance was nice and view was great. Staff was attentive. Will never eat there again.

    We have given this place numerous chances. One too many, unfortunately. Such a cool place and could be amazing. Overpriced, poor service, and no attention to the customer. Prepare to initiate conversation with staff…possibly chase a bartender down to pay them to make an overpriced drink. Mind you, this is a “destination restaurant” - it is not just simply off the side of a road. $16 for a subpar, dry burger (angus, not Bison because they were out of that) with what seemed to be old toppings and a pickle spear that looked like someone chewed the seeds out of the center. Hand cut fries burnt. Would’ve been happier with a McD’s drive thru burger. Kid loved the homemade chips, but chicken tenders looked like DQ’s tenders (frozen). Spare rib not as good as everyone ranted and raved about. Crab cake was huge and very good. No one asked how the food was and all plates but the crab cake went back with over half food left on plate. Had to serve ourselves water twice, also… Overall, just disappointing…such a cool place with a cool history. Definitely check out the premises, but don’t expect quality from the food and restaurant/bar experience. It’s not a “get what you paid for” place, that’s for sure. I never do reviews, but hopefully this will prepare folks for the more than likely letdown.

    Off-season and mid-week, so restaurant was fairly quiet. Ambiance was wonderful. Service was attentive and friendly, but courses came out too quickly. Entrees served before appetizer finished. Entrees - crab cake was good. Elk - overdone. Side order of asparagus - overdone.

    Didn't know what we were walking into, as we let our daughter make the reservation. Once there, was a little like stepping back in time . . . In a good way. I almost hate to write a review . . . Because I kinda want to keep this place to ourselves and others who have discovered it before we did. The views are great and the food was AWESOME! We liked it so much, we went back the next night . . . AND we weren't even lodging on the property (but will in the future)! First night, there was a solo acoustic guitarist playing music and we had the jalapeño bacon wrapped quail, mushroom bacon stuffed trout, the iron skillet chicken, and desert. Second night, there was a three piece band playing jazz and we had the stuffed mushrooms, fried green tomatoes, wild duo (venison cutlet & wild boar sausage), and the elk medallions. To wrap it up . . . You know what, the food was OK and the sitting just like any other place. ;)

    Everything we had for our Easter lunch was delicious! We were extremely pleased and offer no complaints. A wonderful variety of food to select from with everything well prepared..All of the staff was so helpful and very attentive. Atmosphere of the lodge only enhanced our dining experience.     The food was ok. I had the bison burger, but I could tell the patty was frozen, not fresh meat as expected. The fruit cup as well had some canned pineapple. It was nice to be here for the restaurant legacy, but the lunch was mediocre.

    Sometimes you might have a hiccup with some part of your dinner, but not going into details, the management handle it well to our pleasing, it will not stop me on returning to this restaurant, enjoyed our time there.

    Our sister weekend began with a fabulous dinner at Harvest with excellent service by our server, Mary. She was so nice, informative, attentive and patient with all our questions. There was music that evening which was enjoyable and not too loud. (We loved the opportunity to dine where the Houseman's did at Kellerman's during Dirty Dancing! HA!)     Food was terrific. Had breakfast and dinner. Breakfast buffet has a lot of choices and all was very tasteful. Dinner options were not as plentiful but the venison pasta and stuffed trout were both delicious. Service was terrific not only at the restaurant but also throughout the whole lodge.

    We ate breakfast at Harvest. The food was delicious and the server was friendly and attentive. We sat on the enclosed porch, which was beautiful. My only complaint is that we weren’t informed that it would be buffet only instead of the regular menu until we checked in. There were limited vegan options, so I ended up paying $20 for a bowl of oatmeal and fruit that costs $5.50 on the regular menu. However, the rest of my family enjoyed multiple items on the buffet, and felt that it was a reasonable price for what was available.

    The dinner we had at Harvest inside Mountain Lake Lodge was incredible! We had the fried green tomatoes as a starter, then bacon & mushroom stuffed Trout, chicken skillet, with mashed potatoes and house salad as sides. The flavors were absolutely delicious, the staff and service was exceptional, and the ambiance of the restaurant was perfect!
