I came with a friend for a leisurely dinner. We chose three courses each from the specials of the day and we both were really pleased with what we had.
My wife and I had a good time and enjoyed everything, except our request for no onions was ignored. I guess a strainer for a sauce is too much to ask for. At least substrate sauce to accommodate.
Service very good and very nice. Appetizers were excellent. Main entrees were mixed. Recommend their burgers, they are great.
Always consistent, always excellent. Been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience.
Very nice restaurant. I will definitely go back. Everything was wonderful.
The Harvest Moon Inn is a fantastic restaurant. The ambiance is old-fashioned/colonial but it is charming and fits with the historic building. The food is interesting, inventive, seasonal, and delicious. We enjoyed every single bite! The service was professional and attentive. We will definitely be back again and again!
food, service, and atmosphere were outstanding--can't wait to go back!!!
Have only eaten in the dining room of the Harvest Moon Inn and cannot speak to the bar area. The dining room is small with a fireplace , there are tables against the windows for 2 and tables for 6 in the center and the balance tables for 4. A guess is 14 tables in all. Room is cozy and warm especially in winter with the fireplace going. Food and Service are always excellent and I would rank it a 5 overall except that for $100.00 a person dinners including drinks and tips I feel the table settings should be more elegant. Just my opinion based on other restaurants in the same price range I have eaten.
I would not hesitate in going back and have many times, its one of my favorite New Jersey restaurants and it is a long drive but worth it. Service and staff among the best anywhere . Every friend I have recommended this to has come back raving about the dining experience.
All the deserts are made in house and are absolutely delicious. The pastry chef is top notch .
The food is excellent and the chef will allow modifications to accommodate if possible.
Bottom line, go, you will not regret it. They have a piano in the bar on week ends and a more casual atmosphere there if that's your style.
5star! Start to finish!
After many good meals here this year, this was one of the best. I look forward to many more occasions in '19!
This restaurant has it all - great food, wonderful service, and a beautiful setting. The attention to detail in dining is evident from the slightly sweet roll accompanied by unsalted butter to the beautifully presented hazelnut encrusted chocolate mousse for dessert. We dined on the duck dumplings accompanied with squash and pecans for the first course and for dinner, the Long Island Duck and the pork medallions, all impeccably prepared. The live piano music is a welcome change from the canned variety, played at the perfect volume to enhance the dining experience. The service was leisurely but not slow, perfect for enjoying the meal. All of these components, the excellent service, warm atmosphere, and fabulous food made this among our top dining experiences of all time.
We go every year for a holiday dinner and it is always a delightful experience
WE have been to this restaurant several times and will continue to go in the future, the food is excellent, service is great and you must try the dessert assortment tray, its the perfect topping to a wonderful diner.
Perfect for a holiday get together with friends. Cozy atmosphere.
I have eaten at the Inn many times and have never been disappointed.
Food is inventive and presented beautifully. Charming atmosphere in the tavern section.
It was festive with Christmas decoration and crowded with people celebrating holidays. Menu selection was great food was delicious
Great service,food and ambiance!
We come sporadically but never had a problem. Food always excellent , service and ambiance worth the drive.
We have been to Harvest Moon many times and never been disappointed. The food is always delicious, and the service is excellent. Harvest Moon provides fine dining in a traditional country inn setting, with refined but friendly service.
Excellent as always!
Great service. Great food. Looking forward to our next visit.
Harvest Moon dining is outstanding. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. The service is personable, knowledgeable and efficient. It was a most enjoyable evening for dinner.
Delicious duck; paired with their outstanding wild mushroom soup and a couple of glasses of pinot noir, this was a perfect retreat for a black Friday lunch.
We enjoyed the thanksgiving Holiday at Harvest Moon. Since we moved out of the area we had not been in quite some time but it DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The restaurant was busy, but service was excellent. No long waits or delays. We were seated in the tavern and it was a bit noisy. Wonderful bottled wine menu, but like its decor, its a bit dated. A craft cocktail drink menu was sorely missing. Even with those little bumps we will not hesitate to book again.
Excellent food, service, ambiance and atmosphere! So good to see great culinary entrepreneurship in the area! We enjoyed a wonderful evening and diner and will be back.
The Harvest Moon is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. Everything is made fresh, in house, including the bread, pasta and pizza. Lately we have been sitting in the bar area, where you can select from either the fine dining menu, or their separate bar menu. The bar menu provides more casual options that are a bit less expensive. Everything we've had has been delicious. Service is good. Need a reservation on the weekend.
Great time had by all. Certainly will be back. Great food, drinks, piano music, service and all. Top ranked in our book
The best part of the meal was the warm dinner roll. I ordered Asian chicken meatballs as an appetizer. I was tempted to ask our server for a magnifying glass to find them amongst the Asian vegetables. I ordered pork tenderloin with potato gnocchi as an entree. This entree reminded me of a Swanson’s Hungry Man Dinner. The pork chops were thin, loaded on a plate of peas with the blandest gnocchi known to man. The decor of this restaurant is from the early 90s. To make matters worse they charged $10.25 for a pint of beer. That is not a typo, $10.25. Manhattan prices for below average food in a stale atmosphere. Very disappointing!
Our favorite place! A historic property loaded with charm on beautiful well kept grounds. Always fresh cut flowers (from the grounds) Very professional staff, warm, courteous and accommodating. Amazing creative dishes, fresh fish caught by the owners, dishes made straight from the garden- well versed in food allergies. Prices are what you would expect for a quality restaurant.
New Jersey is blessed with many historic homes that have evolved into restaurants. Few we have tried are as exceptional as Harvest Moon Inn proved to be. The menu is diverse and varied, the food was wonderfully prepared and it was beautifully plated. The service was formal, polite and professional without being intrusive. And the Inn is nicely authentic in its decor and ambiance.
Starters included a most unusual, and especially delicious grilled seafood sausage with polenta, followed by arugula salad with crispy Duck Confit and a salad of seasonal greens, pear, and goat cheese. Everything was fresh and delicious.
Main courses included a fabulous rack of lamb (pictured) and pork medallions (not shown, but larger than the typical medallion). They were both perfectly prepped and accompanied by crisp and flavorful vegetables.
Desserts are made in house and are not to be missed. Cappuccino and milk chocolate mousse with rolled in toasted hazelnuts was out of this world! (see photo) Ice creams were fresh and delicious.
Our only complaint was the bar staff, dull, dismal, and completely unsocial. The bar seemed well stocked and the prices were reasonable, but recommend avoiding the house Cabernet, which was too sweet and lacked body.
Why did we drive by the Harvest Moon Inn so many times and not give it a try? We loved our evening and will absolutely return.
We go to the Harvest Moon a few times a year, and we always come home very satisfied. The dining room is far superior to the bar area if you plan to chat with your party. The live piano music in the bar sometimes makes it difficult to carry on a conversation.
The restaurant closed on a day I had made reservations for a business meal with customers. Everyone arrived as per reservation and restaurant was unexpected closed without any notification.
The salmon special (served over linguini and clams) was very well done; it was really quite delicious.
Have been dining at HM since it was renovated in late 1990s. Has never disappointed me; has surprised me many times with creative combinations and super fresh ingredients. Service is top notch, bartender is great and if course, Charles On The Piano is sensational!
Fantastic food. It was a small touch slow coming out I thought, but everything was very very good. I will go back for sure. We had beef, pork, chicken, tuna and scallops. All were prepared very well and everyone enjoyed.
Food and service were both outstanding. A bit pricey but the food was outstanding quality. The noise level was a little loud, but that was due to the group of people that happened to be dining at that time. Will definitely return.
They should improve their vegetarian choices, pretty uninteresting choices. Menu overall was very good.
