Harvest Moon Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Harvest Moon = Top 3 restaurants in the town of Sonoma - end of story.
Harvest Moon is the culinary child of a husband & wife team with true foodie pedigree: Nick & Jen Demarest, the chef and pastry chef respectively, hail from Chez Panisse (Berkeley) & La Toque (Napa).
We're fortunate to eat out frequently (throughout the Bay Area) on a regular basis . . . and know and appreciate food and enjoy overall dining experiences.
Tonight we shared the . . . Marinated beets and celery with tonnato sauce, tarragon, micro mustard greens and fried capers ($13.95) = Amazing !
We both thoroughly enjoyed the . . . Liberty Farm Duck three ways: grilled breast, confit leg & liver toast with Brussels sprouts, lentils and currant sauce ($26.95) = This was CRAZY Good / Memorable.
The menu here changes daily, although they do keep some of their staples consistent, just prepared a different way that evening. Late in the day you can check their website to see if tonight's menu is posted yet . . . to preview your game-plan for that evening.
Cozy casual dining with great service and a fun/approachable wine list that's not out of control . . . offers a wide selection and at great prices (imagine that). Tonight we brought a nice bottle of Williams Selyem to enjoy - Corkage is $20.
If you can't get in here . . . Cafe La Haye . . . or . . . Girl & the Fig . . . will work culinary magic.
This is my favorite restaurant in the town of Sonoma. Its fairly quiet which I enjoy, the pasta is the best I've ever had anywhere, great wine list, the bread is the BEST and much more. Its pretty consistently wonderful with only 2 times this year out of about 20 where I wasn't overally satisfied with the fish. They have a very large outdoor patio and its heated in the winter which is great.
Had New Year's dinner, special three course set menu with choices for each course.
Fabulous country Pate with truffles, duck breast cooked to perfection and Grand Marnier crème Brule. The perfect way to ring in the New Year.
This is one of our favoirite restaurants in wine county. Great service and the food is always a revelation.
This is the nicest little restaurant right on the town square in Sonoma. We stopped here for brunch and coffee before a hike at the nearby Sonoma Overlook. It is a little pricey, but the coffee (and mimosas) are really good as well as the locally sourced food. Get a table outside in the sunshine with a view of the square.
What a great evening! Date night on the Square in downtown Sonoma and Harvest Moon Cafe was perfect. We were a few minutes early for our reservation so had a glass of wine at the bar. They offered us a taste of an Italian vineyard that was new to us so we could try before ordering. Sat us for dinner on the enclosed patio. Everyone from the hostess to our server to the manager were warm and welcoming. Mauricio runs a very smooth operation. The menu changes daily based on what’s fresh and the food was creative, fresh and delicious. Clam and andouille sausage appetizer was wonderful, the gem salad with lemon vinaigrette and goat cheese was perfect and both our swordfish and chicken entrees were excellent. We don’t usually have desserts but had to try the Chocolate Pot de Creme. Glad we did! The tables are spaced far enough apart to insure we could hear just our own conversations and the restaurant is inviting and comfortable. Prices were reasonable for such fresh and delicious food and great service. A wonderful dining experience and we’ll be back.
Harvest Moon is one of our favorite restaurants in Sonoma, tucked away off the plaza with a great space outdoors in the back patio. The menu changes everyday so we go as often as we can. The staff is great, friendly and knowledgeable which adds to the whole lovely dining experience. We love to bring friends and family here and Harvest Moon never disappoints. We love to share all the dishes because we usually want to eat half the menu at one sitting.
Harvest Moon did not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and have the ribeye. It was stellar.
We sat at a high-top over looking the food prep area. It was great because it was right in the middle of the action, but somehow it never felt like we were in the way. We could watch the cooks execute the start of a dinner shift, we could watch the bartenders crafting cocktails and pulling wines. The staff was extremely friendly and made sure every single aspect of our experience was perfect. The food was so fresh and also prepared perfectly. I would go back in a moment's notice.
Amazing service, food, & presentation! Every single item looked beautiful when it came out & had explosions of flavor! The steak & pasta (2 different entrees) were both cooked to perfection.
Their outside patio is a great atmosphere with plenty of heaters that get turned on or off as needed. Going there on or around the night of a full moon is amazing since you can see the night sky right above you!
The back patio is adorable. The ambiance it outstanding. It's a little crowded inside the restaurant. I found the food, pretty good, but not out of this world. I would say a little overpriced for what you are getting but the service, ambiance all contribute to it being worth it. I would recommend.
we're always glad to go to Harvest Moon Cafe with it's tasty menu that changes every night...always something fun, interesting and delicious to choose from. the service staff is friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable. we like to sit outdoors where it's more roomy and made comfy with heat lamps. indoors is more warm and cozy, so you have a choice. we usually make sure we have dinner at Harvest Moon whenever we are in town - one of our faves!
I think the Harvest Moon must be kept a secret by true foodies and chill people. Service was excellent. The food was very delicious, creative and flavorful. One of our dishes was too al-dente, the chef confirmed and they removed it from my check. I look forward to tasting the food from other seasons here at the Harvest Moon. One last cool thing...they played Reggae!
