Harvest Moon Cafe Ratings and Reviews
First experience visiting both the area and this particular restaurant which was recommended to us from a canadian friend, I would definitely return should i be in the area. Our waiter was very friendly and made us feel extremely comfortable with our choices, the food was great and the lemon dessert was awesome. good stuff..
My parents, boyfriend and I had a fantastic dinner there this weekend. The beet and green been salad was a favorite appetizer and for mains everyone was delighted! Between us, we ordered the lamb, gnocchi, clams and prawn entree, and the streak. The outdoor patio was charming and the heaters kept us very comfortable. We finished with coffee, biscotis and the s'more dessert, with 4 spoons. It was the perfect finish to a great meal and another great memory from Sonoma!
Harvest Moon Cafe is consistently excellent
in every way. Featuring local Ingredients, to bring out the best in
every dish with innovative gourmet preparations.
From innovative salads and appetizers through outstanding main courses and desserts, this restaurant is firing on all cylinders.
The menu is constantly changing with the season so there is always something to look forward to.
We always look forward to our next visit to the Harvest Moon Café.
Don't miss this Sonoma gem.
Thank you for a wonderful dinner! The outdoor dining was very nice and the heaters kept it jut the right temperature. We had a great time with our friends and it was easy to hear them. I would make a couple of suggestions tho. I love that the menu is the vision of the owners and I welcome that creativity! I had the farm tomato salad and the ribeye steak. I am a vegan and took this opportunity to indulge in a Farm to table experience. My taste buds are not destroyed by salt and I truly love the taste of food. With that said I found both dishes to be quite heavy on the sauces for my liking.
I truly had a wonderful night and I would go back just to try something new!
I searched for restaurants in Sonoma before our trip last week and Harvest Moon Cafe came up as having great reviews and the menu looked pretty interesting so we made a reso for our first night in Sonoma. We could not have been happier. It was best dinner we had on a 10 day trip.
The waiter recommended a delicious, reasonably priced wine that was delicious. In regards to food, we ordered a few apps and one main, one desert (smores!) and shared everything. Everything was so fresh and flavourful. The people made the experience even better. A song came on that I wanted to know the name of and our waiter went out of his way to try and sort what it was. They couldn't have been nicer. We will definitely go back when in Sonoma.
Jen the chef/owner is beyond fabulous! I called & asked if she could accommodate mine & my boyfriend's vegan diet & it wasn't a problem. She even went out of her way to surprise us with a chocolate raw vegan dessert which was excellent! Loved my experience there! Thank you Harvest Moon, I can't wait to return.
We loved the place, the food, the ambience....the food was beautifully prepared, full of natural flavors, exceptionally fresh and perfect ingredients...the best of california cooking! Wondrful, relaxed service...just wonderful... We are vegetarians and there were many choices...
Unfortunately the service was fair at best. We were seated and waited for over 7 minutes before someone came to the table to take a drink order. Then about another 20 minutes for bread but they brought the wine quick
There was a long delay between apps and dinner someone even admitted our ticket was missing. Also make a note there is no liquor but we like wine so all was good. Thankfully the food was fantastic and the movie played so we were entertained while waiting for dinner.
Food was fresh and mostly well prepared. We loved the appetizers but were not too crazy crazy about the main dishes. Outdoor seating is nice but would have preferred the open air tables vs a more claustrophobic enclosed area where the kitchen fan noise was loudly humming in the background.
If you are looking for standard and pricey yet fresh fare, this is a great choice.
To really enjoy the dining experience you need to understand they " have a small kitchen" . Our waiter's intro included this phrase and I think we heard this 2-3 times while waiting for our dinners as well as him telling everyone else around us the very same line. We both had the ribeye steak and it was prepared as ordered and was delicious. We ate the main course an hour and fifteen minutes after being seated and it seemed like a long time after eating our salads until our steaks arrived - the flow was just lost. We will remember our visit sitting on the lovely outside patio, eating great food and laughing as we quote the infamous line "remember we have a small kitchen"
Harvest Moon served up another fantastic meal for us. We were there early, chose our starters and meals and a bottle of wine to with it all and thoroughly enjoyed every moment and every mouth-watering bite! This is our go-to place for a fabulous meal or special occasion. They never let us down!
Fabulous reviews but not our experience. waited 10 plus minutes for a hostess to seat us. menu offered few items we would or could eat. food was mediocre. pasta ingredients did not live up to description. we were very happy when meal was over. plus? nice outdoor seating area.
We read about Harvest Moon on Yelp and the reviews were all good, so we booked a reservation. Since we didn't book until Friday morning for Friday evening, we couldn't get a reservation until 9pm. It was worth the wait. We strolled around Sonoma, but unfortunately most of the shops are closed after 6pm, so that was a disappointment. We decided to go to the restaurant a little early. We had a glass of wine at the tiny bar before being seated. It was a lovely evening on the patio with great food and wine. I would recommend this restaurant.
Was one of my favorite places in Sonoma and one I recommend often. I don't know if there has been a change in the kitchen or management, but all the entrees at our table suffered from an excessive salty character. In addition, all of the plate contents suffered from having the same texture - approaching being overcooked. Perhaps just this night (7/24/13) was an off night? Appetizers remain fresh and spot on. The wait staff are always wonderful. Wine selection is nice.
I have walked past this restaurant several times and glanced inside and decided not to enter and now regret it. From the street, this restaurant looks a bit like a dark, local bar. However, once inside and through the restaurant to the patio area, a whole new world opens up and it is charming and idyllic. The food was excellent and we had a very enjoyable meal on the covered area of the patio. I will definitely return. The Niman Ranch ribeye was one of the best I've ever had, and the pastry crust in the mulberry tartlette was divine.
We stumbled across Harvest Moon Café about two years ago and keep coming back because the food is incredible. Hard to believe that one can find food this good without a pretentious setting and reservations made months in advanced. The décor was so low key, we passed the place for years without trying the restaurant. Now, it is one of our favorite restaurants in wine country (and we've been to most of them). The Chefs at Harvest Moon are the ones to watch.
