Harvest Moon Cafe
The food was delicious!
Our absolute favorite restaurant in Sonoma for local, farm-driven, seasonal dishes with the most amazing house made bread and fabulous staff.
Harvest Moon is our absolute favorite restaurant here in Sonoma (our hometown). It has never disappointed us in all the years that it has been here. The menu changes every night and each dish is delectable. And while some ingredients repeat (like beets, mmmm) they are never prepared exactly the same way. There is always a twist that adds creativity to their wonderful comfort food.
And do not miss the desserts, especially anything with ice cream!
The food was amazing and the service was excellent. It was pouring rain outside, but the covered patio and heaters really helped us stay dry and warm.
Harvest Moon is a cozy little restaurant with a menu that changes daily but is always terrific. The have brief but highly diverse, and high quality, wine list. And the staff is great!
We randomly went here based on food options. I think they change their menu daily. So the steak on May 16, 2019 was absolutely amazing and the best steak I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. My friends and I split, there were 4 of us, two got medium well and 2 got medium rare and none of us were disappointed! Definitely go here. The service was amazing too.
Had some fantastic food (king salmon was perfectly prepared and chicken cannelloni melted in your mouth) and our waitress helped us with a wine selection (actually brought us a taste of something we were considering but ended up not liking so she saved us from buying something we didn't want) and steered us away from an appetizer we were considering. Overall, a wonderful experience!
Excellent as usual. Food and service superb. Definitely recommend.
We love Harvest Moon - the food is always great - really enjoy the "indoor / outdoor" feel while still being warm :) Highly recommend for any occasion - this time we were there for Mother's Day - we'll keep coming back!
Back patio charming and perfect for date night, food/service always outstanding.
It’s a fun and vibrant scene with really great food!
What’s to say about our favorite restaurant in town? Life gets busy and we hadn’t been on a date in a while, and Harvest Moon made it a memorable night by just doing what they do. The service was fantastic and the food was super fresh, local and delectable. Thank you everyone that works there, you da best.
Our first time dining there! Wow!! Amazing choices for a most sumptuous meal. Fantastic service. Fun ambiance! Charming!! We will most certainly be back. The drive over from Novato was very worthwhile!
Wonderful meal with friends for my husband ‘s Birthday!
All of our entrees were excellent
Prompt service and adding special dessert for my husband was great
Great meal. We were in the back room where it can get a bit loud. There was a bachelorette party next to us- but it was good, fun happy loud and not just dull roar loud- so we enjoyed it.
Fettuccine and pork chop were both spectacular. Love this place. A hidden gem on the square.
Very attentive staff. Food was amazing!
We always enjoy the Harvest Moon. Farm-fresh American, with a concentrated but well thought-out menu that changes constantly. One of our top local restaurants for showing off Sonoma to visitors.
The patio is as nice as always. They were able to process our Open Table coupon. Local rumors of impending closure were put to rest by the bartender, who asked me to spread the word! The shortage of available time slots for reservations is consistent with our experience, and we look forward to dining there again.
The hostess was not only strange, but also inappropriate & aggressive. Otherwise, a very nice wait staff & restaurant, she was intimidating & disturbing enough not to want to back.
Wendy’s sour dough bread was amazing. My friend from Texas fell in love
The best food in Sonoma
the steak is the very best, BUT they charge for bread (only so-so), they charge if you want a different vegetable or starch (also so-so), they overcharge for everything, like side dishes or salad. I suppose we could eat ONLY the steak, it would be strange but the bitter taste of paying over the top rates for mediocre everything else makes it a tempting option. The steak isn't cheap either, $35 each.
wonderful service. The wine by the glass menu has gone downhill but the food was delicious.
Very noisy on the patio. Had to yell to carry on a conversation.
This used to be a favorite of ours but over the years it has become just another Sonoma stereotypical restaurant. The prices are high, but the food is very average and the cooking is poor. Overcooked tuna, rather tough and tasteless lamb, overcooked artichokes and an unexciting salad. Service was efficient and pleasant, but that is not enough to make me want to go back again any time soon.
Harvest Moon hit that rarely achieved sweet balance between rusticity and elegance. It looks like a bar, with stools and high wooden tables in the front. But the food, wine and service are anything but standard pub grub. We started with salads - his was a standard green, while mine had citrus. To my surprise each salad had a different dressing - both fresh and bursting with flavor. Each salad even had different varieties of nuts. Highly recommended. For an entree I had the fried whitefish, which was cooked to a perfect crisp and served with a tangy, slightly sour slaw and lemongrass broth that set off the fish perfectly. My partner had a mushroom and veggie melange served with the best quinoa I've tasted in a while. He's not a mushroom lover, but he was raving about how good these were. The wine list was very nice, with a good selection of well-priced half-bottles if you're too wined out after a day of tasting to go for a full bottle. And there are good beer and cocktail selections as well. As good as the food was, the service really took things over the top for me. Speedy, unobtrusive and highly skilled servers appeared as if by magic to take orders and bring and clear plates. It's a big, busy room, so extra points for attentiveness. In summary, it was a very good experience with fresh, creative food, good value and terrific service, and I'd definitely go again when I'm in Sonoma.
A little loud during the peak time. Really good food, the wine list could have been a bit larger.
Overall a very good experience. Will probably go back.
We had such a great time. Everything that we had was cooked to perfection. The Rib Eye is a solid “go to”, but you should always venture out when something new is on the menu. Our party had the Yellow Fin as well as the Pork Loin, and went nuts over the polenta. Well done Nick and Jen!
Never a disappointment. Intimate ambiance and delicious food! Highly recommendable
This is our go to Birthday restaurant, mine in March, our daughter on Saturday and my wife on May 26 (reservation made)
Cool restaurant with great food and exceptional service!
Excellent service and food was outstanding. Highly recommended.
One of our favorite restaurants in Sonoma! The food is delicious and made with the freshest ingredients and the service is always spot on.
Such a great spot to eat in Sonoma. The food is so delicious, every ingredient sings.
Everything delicious. Couldn’t be better.
Amazing food and fabulous service!!
Great, as always!
Celebrating a birthday and had reservations for a Wednesday night. Was greeted and sat right away. Menu was full of appetizing items from appetizers, soups, salads, and entrees. I had steak and hubby had the pasta dish. Steak was cooked perfectly but only served warm along with the spinach and au gratin potatoes. This was disappointing. But entire steak dinner was delicious. Pasta dish was delicious. Desserts were nothing of interest and we were disappointed in not having a dessert to celebrate the birthday celebration. We had coffee which was fresh and hot. I noticed that no one else in the restaurant ordered dessert either. Hopefully Harvest Moon will make corrections soon.
Very pleasant outdoor seating, inside seating dark and less inviting. Food excellent
