Tables could be larger for business meetings, if that's a consideration. waiters should work on their accents - not always clear. Brunch menu was more lunch than breakfast.
My favorite restaurant in Cambridge, and one of my favorites anywhere, for decades. I first came here as a college student, and return now to take my own college age son out to dinner when we visit him. The service is always superlative, the food is always delicious, the cocktails are always delightful, and the managers outdo themselves in their efforts to make me feel welcome. This particular evening turned out to be a dreadfully rainy one and many of the dining patrons were delayed, so the restaurant was slow in seating us. They apologized for the delay and immediately offered us the option of drinks at the bar while we waited (which we declined); soon enough someone went out and literally found another table and squeezed it into the dining room to make a place for us. Thank you, Harvest, for yet another lovely evening. Until next time!
The Harvest has been our favorite for many years and it did not let us down on this visit. it was our 50th anniversary and it was a treat to spend it there. the food was great, especially the seasonal specials. the wine list is fabulous. the service was very good; the waiters attentive and knowledgeable.
It was one of the best restaurant experiences
of my entire lifetime [and I'm nearly 68 years
old] -- from the beauty of the restaurant as
a whole to the lovely friendly waiter assigned
to us to the beautiful & delicious food to the
location and ambience where we were seated
and could actually hear ourselves talk.
Beautiful atmosphere accompanied by friendly service.
The Harvest is a classic! Hidden down an alley in Harvard Square, it is elegant and cozy the food is sensational and our server was great.
It was okay, but not up to our standards. We expected more. Outside seating was nice except for the external noise. This was certainly not the fault of the restaurant and when we asked asked to be moved when we asked. Unfortunately when we moved we kept the same server. Since we were thus out of his normal space, he was not as attentive as he should have been. It would have been better to switch us to the other server.
The food on balance was average. Having said this, the appetizers and oysters were great. Also, the dessert was excellent. The steak was okay but it was over-cooked, medium to medium well when we asked for medium rare. No real excuse for such a mistake.
Also, skip the ceasar salad. I have never seen a ceasar with a balsamic.
So, average. I would give it a 3.5 overall if I could. Not 4.
Excellent space, meticulous service, and delicious food!
They were just really understaffed. It took forever to get our coffees, another forever to order. To be fair, it was a noon Sunday brunch rush but they should have been prepared for that given it was almost empty when we walked in and near the beginning of lunch. But I will be back! Delicious.
Menu was limited for Sunday brunch. Didn’t have jam (or anything) for plain toast that came with entree. Didn’t have omelets and wouldn’t make one. Called applesauce apple cinnamon purée, pear purée and apple butter. It was just applesauce! The waitress was rude. Didn’t even tell us the menu changes but then we heard her tell the table next to us. Very underwhelmed but this pricy place.
Entre of halibut was outstanding. Dessert was only fair (crepe brûlée)
Whenever we are in the area our first choice of dining is Harvest. The food is exceptional and the people are so friendly. The gentleman who helped us with our wine selection was polite and informative. Great night out!
WE OFTEN DINE AT HARVEST (NOTE ALL THE 10'S ABOVE) ARE THE REASONS.
THE FOOD IS EQUAL TO ANY 5 STAR RESTAURANT. THE SERVICE--AMAZING, FRIENDLY AND SERVER'S KNOW EACH ITEM ON THE MENU AND CAN EXPLAIN THEM .
PASTRIES----------DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE FOR DESSERT. THEY ARE ALL SPECIAL CREATIONS BY PASTRY CHEF JOSH. GORGEOUS AND DELICIOUS.
Harvest is back!
It's always been one of my neighborhood favorites.
Delicious chili and Caesar salad. Good wine recommendation. Excellent hospitality.
I had not been to Harvest in years. Amazing that it is as good or better than ever. The food was original, fresh and delicious - I particularly liked the beet gazpacho, the beet and burrata appetizer, the seafood boil and the harissa carrots. Lots of good vegetarian options. We dined on the heated patio which was lovely on a cool evening with a fire going in the background. The main dining room scene is energetic but a bit noisy for conversation. Service was impeccable. We especially enjoyed the sommelier, who was knowledgeable without being pretentious. The occasion was a business dinner and my out of town colleagues loved it!
The food at the Harvest is better than ever. My daughter and I were very happy with everything except the noise level which is high.
A Harvard institution without feeling stuffy. Very good food, friendly and knowledgeable servers.
We have been going to Harvest since 1975 when it opened. It has been consistently excellent all this time!
The food was outstanding. And excellent attentive service.
The food is always amazing at Harvest. Beautiful setting. Lovely people. Great for a special night out!
Everything was great except the chef did not bother to read the notes from our server ( sauce on the side, no capers, etc). I’ve been to less fancy restaurants where the attention to detail was spot on. Otherwise, very enjoyable experience.
Menu changes since spring 2018 are disappointing. What were elegant options with some interesting details have now become almost indistinguishable meals with obscure flavorings.
Excellent once again
Food quality and menu choices were wonderful and the service even better. Staff is consistently gracious in a welcoming, friendly way. Love the accompaniments with each entree.
The food is always great — creative and high quality. Very good service — attentive and proactive. It is a treat to eat at Harvest.
Good ambiance and ambition, but food was merely ok.
Harvest never disappoints. The food is delicious. The table ware Is beautiful and unusual. The presentation exquisite and the wait staff could not be nicer
Great restaurant with a great menu. Excellent sound control in the room we were seated in. Every dish was excellent. Waitperson was outstanding.
My husband and I ate at this restaurant a few weeks ago with friends and had a wonderful dinner. My husband had the haddock and I had the halibut and we thought both were excellent. A couple of days ago, we returned and, because we'd enjoyed our meals so much the last time, we ordered the same meals. Sadly, they did not measure up. My husband particularly found his haddock not as good as the prior time and the accompaniments subtly different and disappointing. My halibut was fine, but not as good as the first time, and the peach chutney served with it seemed different from what I remembered. Our server was excellent and we remember him from years past. I hope this usually excellent restaurant isn't going downhill.
Nice efficient service with quality ingredients
Great location in Harvard Square, with reasonably priced Sunday brunch. Varied entrees - each of the four of us ordered something different. Pleasant atmosphere, outdoor dining option, attentive but unobtrusive service, excellent food. The Chorizo gravy and biscuits was a major hit!
Delicious food and attentive service. Would definitely return and recommend
Very nice surprise
Excellent service and food, they make you feel at home, all was superb!
The service is excellent. Beautiful space. Very quiet and private. The meal was a little too artsy for my taste. If you are a real foodie you will love this restaurant.
The Harvest has evolved with many chapters, new decor, new servers and new chefs. It never disappoints and it is in particularly good form now. Sitting outside enjoying the good food with good friends in Harvard Square is always a treat.
Wonderful server. Wonderful pasta. Improvements to “patio” make outside space much nicer
We always love going to Harvest. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The menu changes often enough so that it never feels tired. The service is always superb: attentive and friendly. In the winter there's a fire in the fireplace, in the summer there's outdoor seating. Its atmosphere is relaxed, but more than suitable for a special occasion as well. We've tried most of the restaurants in the area and always end up coming back to Harvest, which has never disappointed us.
Nicely served, well-prepared food in pleasant setting. Predictably good.
