Harvest looks good from the outside, but I found it to be expensive and pretentious. Service was extremely slow, and the waiter kept forgetting our orders. The sangria, which was highly recommended, was very similar to the pre-mixed bottles you get from the grocery store. It had very little alcohol and tasted like bad apricots, yet it cost $14 a glass. The presentation of the food is good, but the taste is average at best. You can do a lot better than this place!
Lovely lunch on the patio. I had the vegetarian chili -- it was delicious, very flavorful. Everyone enjoyed their meal and service was excellent.
Appetizers and entree were wonderful. Desserts not outstanding. Beer list a bit short. No aquavit liqueurs available for after dinner drinks. Service kept us waiting a couple of times.
We were here for brunch on Fathers' Day (also my husband's birthday and our daughter and son-in-law's anniversary). The food and service were excellent. It was cold in the room when we arrived and our server got the air conditioning turned down to a comfortable level. It is classic Harvard Square and a great place to celebrate.
We dined for Father's Day brunch at Harvest and absolutely loved it. We had oysters to start which were wonderful. The lobster eggs benedict was fabulous as were the other dishes that others had. The service was also outstanding. Looking forward to returning soon for dinner!
Wonderful Father’s Day brunch. Food and drinks were excellent. Our waitress was extremely gracious despite our impression that they may have been short staffed (took a bit before she was able to get to us). Definitely planning to go back again.
What a lovely meal in such a wonderful setting. Can't believe I have never been to
Harvest before, but I will certainly be back...
The Bloody Mary was very disappointing...served in a tiny glass with no olives or celery!
The table next to ours had celery, olives, etc.
This is my only complaint...
What a fantastic experience!! Very attentive waitstaff and wonderful food! We had the carrot side and the broccoli side. Both with just the right flavors. The roasted carrots had a harissa and goat cheese topping. The broccoli had a pesto with Pecorino cheese. I had the spring onion risotto which was perfect. My family had the lobster ravioli with asparagus and fennel! All of it wonderful. I can't recommend this place highly enough!! Will be coming back soon.
Very consistently good!
Our waiter was prompt and attentive. Food arrived quickly. Carrot appetizer was very good as was swordfish. Heater on above table on patio- a bit warm but not too much heat.
Wonderful in every way.
Great food with attention to detail. Very nice presentation. Servers seemed to figure out the tempo that we wanted, and gave us plenty of time to enjoy the meal. If we had wanted faster, I think they would have accommodated. My only complaint is that the beer selections did not move very far beyond a selection of IPAs. I would like to see more of an effort to pair good local beers with the locally sourced food.
Good food but we waited a verily long time for main meal.
The manager, Rebecca is truly lovely and accommodating. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful and understood our time constraints.
The young man who sat us was helpful and kind. All of the staff were friendly. The cocktail choices are fun, and they will make a brandy alexander adding ice cream. Sides big enough to share.
A favorite place for us when in Cambridge.
Still crazy enjoyable after all these years. Miraculously Harvest keeps its edge and appeal. Over several decades we've enjoyed the food, the space, the sense of place. Even if we had no history with the Harvest, it's still one of the loveliest dining options in the city.
An amazing dinner! For our anniversary and we got a nice chocolate script added to our dessert that said “Happy Anniversary”.
The in house made whole wheat sourdough is delicious.
The rosemary fries were so good - really strong rosemary flavor and served with Parmesan shavings.
The beet pasta was delicate and tasty. The fresh mint and parsley was a good touch.
Food was fresh and tasty, good half bottle wine list, patio was lovely and spot on service from Jasmine.
We have had three birthday lunches a year at Harvest for several decades!!
Many dishes exceptional, but a few sub par for standard you would expect in that price range - example hard and stringy carrots in the carrot appetizer, oyster half size of normal, etc. If this were a less expensive restaurant I would give it a 5 rather than 4. We’ve had better food and service at $ restaurants than at this $$ restaurant. It was still very good, but not exceptional.
The interior is very outdated, and the service was overwhelmed on a busy evening. The food is good!
We went for Sunday brunch, and the food and hospitality were excellent. We were greeted by the manager who immediately seated us. The wait staff was very attentive but not annoyingly so. The manager and assistant manager came over to make sure things were going well. We started with a pastry board of apple tarts, cheese scones, and chocolate babka. I'm not much of a pastry eater, but even I enjoyed the tart and the scones. We both had the salmon over quinoa and it was excellent. We also had their grand mimosa - a mimosa with a little Grand Marnier added - very tasty. All in all a great dining experience.
There was a delay in getting the oyster appetizers but the staff more than compensated for this minor error by subtracting them off our bill which was more than generous.
The food was prepared perfectly.
Amazing. Go to this restaurant.
A simple Caesar Salad with Chicken was made so that it was roast chicken with roast casesar salad on the side. Could have been explained better on the menu. Sometimes trying to be too fancy is less tasty.
We had to wait nearly 1 hour for our first course to be brought at the table, but in defense of the restaurant, it must be said that it was the day after Harvard University commencement. On the other hand, I do feel this is something one could've easily taken into account for and request more help in the kitchen. Our waiter was great, very professional, the food was really good, so overall no complaints with regards to food or service, management on the other hand could've been handled better on this day. Nevertheless I'd still recommend the restaurant to friends, family & colleagues.
Great food and wonderful location for graduation celebration. Thank you!
Good clam chowder
Pricey for what you get
Menu is kind of tired
Although they could not find our reservation, the staff graciously accommodated us! Noreen our waitress was excellent. Such a delightful location on the patio and splendid food.
Great food, atmosphere and service.
Disappointing meal. Food was unremarkable. But expensive. Would not return despite good service.
This is my third time trying their new menu, and everything is indeed exquisitely made and wonderful. Our server was very accommodating and due to him we ordered a different second bottle of wine rather than the one I had initially requested, and he was right! All entrees and desserts off this menu are wonderfully prepared and recommended.
The reason I was not 100% happy with our experience is because we had made the reservation 3 weeks in advance for 6 people, and was therefore expected to be seated near a window and at a round table. Instead we were seated in a nook right by the hostess and it felt a bit claustrophobic.
Despite its good reputation, a big disappointment. Service was inconsistent. It took over an hour to get the first course, with no explanation or apology. Server was not very gracious when we politely asked when our food was coming. As we waited and got hungrier, I wondered why there were bread plates if no bread is offered. When the main course finally arrived, the food was fair to middling. The salmon was over salted. The lentil chili portion was ridiculously small. I had to get up to ask for a fork. I have had some decent meals at Harvest in the recent past, so maybe this was a particularly off day for them or they were understaffed or the staff was new, but the overall experience was unpleasant enough that I will not go back again.
I have been dining at Harvest since the 70s and always enjoy the experience. Saturday night the food was lovely to look at but too too weird to est. I can't even take the time tho explain each item. The waiter was told but did nothing to change our disappointment. I'll go back to Legal next time.
I’ve always loved this place but my most recent dining experiences was horrendous. Was rudely rushed and spoken down to by the waiter repeatedly. I understand Tuesday nights get busy but jeesh- it’s was really terrible. I chock it up to an off night.
Excellent service and food. They were very accommodating staff to dietary restrictions.
Mother’s Day lunch. Seated on the patio with a heater blasting heat at us. Our tabletop was actually hot! Staff attempted to adjust the control and finally cooled us down to normal.
Food was the strong point with fine prep and good flavor. Courses were well timed. However the check, $65 pp for a price faire lunch was over the top. We will not return.
We had a nice dinner. Everything was quiet good. One issue was water was poured in my husband’s Sprite. But the service was very attentive despite this tiny mistake. Recommend it highly
Our meal at Harvest was excellent and the service was quite good. We enjoyed ourselves quite a bit.
