About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem

A steady Harvard Square presence for almost 50 years, Harvest embodies the ever-evolving spirit of Cambridge and deep respect for culinary tradition. Our seasonal menus marry the innovation of contemporary cooking with a timeless respect for American culinary traditions and an emphasis on local farmers and purveyors. I am trying to be kind . The service was very average. The food was very average . I had the lobster roll . It was very average. The price was ridiculous $18.00 for a Trillium Draft Beer . Lot of profit there . At the Trillium location at Landmark Center near Fenway a beer is $8.00 ! YIKES !

We had been to Harvest in over a decade and decided it was time to go back. To be clear, everything was wonderful - EXCEPT where we were seated. The restaurant was not busy and we could have been seated in the main room- instead, they sat us next to one meeting room with 2 large parties and then us- a 2 top - husband / wife date night . It was SO loud we could not even talk to each other! Service was amazing and the food was delicious.

I first went to The Harvest in 1976 and we have been back many times. This restaurant is wonderful and, almost 50 years later, it is still great! We had dinner with an old friend – appetizers were large enough to share, we each devoured our main dishes, and one dessert with three spoons was just the right amount. It is such a pleasure that this holds up. We will continue to come whenever we are in Harvard Square.

Very disappointed. Took 30 minutes for someone to come over and take drink orders, then waited another 20 minutes for the drinks. We had already eaten our apps before we even got our first drink. The food was very mediocre. You can tell the quality of the ingredients is not good or they cheap out on cheap purveyors. The salads were very poorly made, not evenly dressed, looked like cheap side salads on a school field trip. I got the chicken over a “panzanella” salad and it was not well cooked or put together. The panzanella was a few wet croutons from a bag with a few cherry tomatoes cut in half. You expect better from a restaurant like this. The restaurant did nothing to make up for the poor service, it was as if it didn’t matter at all.

We had the sushi like salmon appetizer which was interesting and tasty. 3 small maki pieces. We then shared the duck. Delicious and rich. Portions are small but we were satisfied. We had the chocolate mousse dessert which was great.

Another wonderful dinner at Harvest. We had strawberry halloumi salad that was fresh and delicious. And perfectly prepared salmon and halibut. Service was impeccable. Tables are spaced so that one can have quiet conversations and not feel constrained

The Harvest has been a favorite of mine for over 40 years. It never disappoints ! This time the service was especially wonderful and I love the new patio area. I can see that I could eat out there four seasons of the year.
