Went for Valentine's day dinner, chefs select menu was great
Valentine’s Day dinner: Atmosphere was good, elegant, appropriate table sizes. I didn’t have to wait a second despite being a bit early.
Waitress was a bit aggressive and short. Which it generally fine, but a bit off putting. She came over to ask if we were ready we said we needed a few more moments. She didn’t come back for twenty minutes. Ridiculous since she had 3 tables. Once she finally took our order we didn’t she her for the rest of the night until the very end while we were about to sign the check.
Food was mediocre for the price. Good sizes, but the flavors sometimes didn’t mesh with the main protein on the dish.
Overall it was fine, but I won’t be going back.
The prix fixe menu was quite good - little short on vegetarian options, but overall super tasty.
Everything came in a timely manner, not too fast not too slow, so we were able to enjoy a lovely evening at Harvest.
As always, dinner at Harvest was wonderful.
Super happy with Valentine’s Day dinner! Exceeded expectations. Excellent dinner, great service, wonderful food, very nice warm ambiance, and great hospitality! All around great evening, not rushed. I really appreciated the conversation level and relaxing, but not intrusive music. Also there were all ages dining here which was nice to see.
Fixed priced menu only. Quality of the choices was subpar for this restaurant, and price was more than I usually spend . Only good item was desert. Would never go there again on Valentine’s Day. Very disappointed.
Harvest provided a 5 star experience across the board.
I ordered the porchetta and it was excellent.
I love Harvest, always have -- wonderful food in a quiet and graceful place. I took one star off the staff recommendation because they can be a little overattentive there, to the point of intruding. It's something to think about -- getting that balance right.
The best place to eat in Harvard Square . Great food, excellent service, attractive room.
Fantastic oysters! Excellent service. Helpful but not intrusive.
My wife and I had a pre-concert dinner. The receptionist and the server kindly inquired if we were attending a performance and when we needed to be done. After we indicated that we had plenty of time, our server slowed down courses so that we had a more leisurely and enjoyable time. We tried different dishes to experience more flavors and were well rewarded for doing so. The pear and brie salad was a delight on a cold February night. The porchetta was filled with flavor that was enhanced by the accompaniments. Matthew, our server, was terrific and made our evening as wonderful as it could have possibly been. Merci!
Amazing!! Went with two girlfriends as a special brunch and the whole experience was phenomenal - food was sublime, front of house/GM were accomodating and pleasant, our server was kind, funny and patient with us (even took a picture of us when we asked him to :)). The ambiance was wonderful as well - crackling fire, pleasant music, tucked away in Harvard Square... HIGHLY recommend!
Really enjoyed our meal and service prior to going to ART/"Othello".
Nice varied menu, a very healthy wine list with half bottles and a professional wait staff.
Recommend it and we'll be going back.
A special place hidden away off Brattle street and well worth the trip! Exquisite flavors and presentation! Attentive, but not too, staff and intimate setting. Great for pre-theatre! Pricey, but worth it!
Very enjoyable meal. The service was outstanding, the ambiance was very nice, and the smell from the kitchen permeated throughout the restaurant. I would highly recommend the New England Seafood Boil.
We've been going to The Harvest for years- one of the stalwarts in an ever changing Cambridge restaurant scene. We went for brunch before the theater - 12:45. Ingredients for my first two choices were no longer available. Substitutions were made, but salmon turned into bacon and Biscuits and Gravy turned into hash. Very disappointed . I would think that on a Sunday, the kitchen would be better stocked. I ended up with two very large, and a bit dry, pancakes. Mimosa was stingy and expensive. Food priced reasonably.
A group of us went for brunch, to celebrate one friend's birthday. The menu was short, but had nice offerings, and we were able to substitute scrambled eggs for the sunny-side up ones listed.
The meals came served in individual cast iron skillet, which kept the meals warm. Portions were small enough to feel healthy, though I was still hungry and ordered dessert. The chocolate creme brulee was more like a chocolate mousse, though was quite rich and very tasty. It was too small to share with the other diners, however.
Usually a fan of Harvest but tried their featured beef stew,,,unappealing shredded short rib beef atop a scant bit of veg. First bite included a piece of bone. Server was lovely and did not charge us for this, but this usual go to place for a great lunch really disappointed this time.
Everything was excellent. But I do have an important question. Did you, by chance, come across a dark red bead necklace? The beads are like those on a string of pearls but the color is dark red, like garnet. When I go home it was missing, and so perhaps it came off in the restaurant. Please do let me know. Thanks.
Everything was very tasty and cooked just right (except the dessert--dry cake). It is much more expensive than we usually go for (we don't live in Cambridge) so maybe would go once a year. The service was excellent. One thing I never understood about restaurants is why I am sitting closer to a stranger than the person I came with. As a person who is hard of hearing I could hear my neighbor better than I could my date.
Food was inventive and delicious. Service was fantastic. (One appetizer served could have been warmer.)
Had a 12:45 lunch reservation and our party of 5 was seated on time and our order taken within 5 minutes, as it was not at all busy. Despite notifying the server upon ordering that we were on a tight schedule, and paying the bill in advance, the food was not to the table as of 1:30, more than 30 minutes after ordering. We were forced to tell them to box it up. Unbelievable.
Very nice brunch. All the food was delicious. I had the oysters followed by the biscuits & chorizo gravy and my wife had the granolas/honey/yogurt followed by a delicious chili. I was impressed with the service because I had ordered my egg over easy and it was overcooked. The waiter noticed without my saying anything and asked I wanted another egg. I did, and it promptly arrived and was great mixed with the delicious gravy and perfect biscuits. Also loved the high-end cheese curds on the side. Pricey but a nice treat.
Highly would recommend the brunch! The restaurant is cozy and quiet. The biscuits and chorizo gravy was amazing! Buttery flaky biscuits and the slightly spicy gravy were a real highlight. The apple butter fritters are another must! Everyone loved their food and the service was friendly without being intrusive.
Food very good. Menu seemed a bit more limited than in past
How do they do it? Excellence for more than 30 years.
Decades ago, I worked walking distance from Harvest. Its gracious, intelligent hospitality and fresh perspectives on lunch have been admirably consistent. Love the new lunch specials! It was wonderful conversing with manager Rebecca and reconnecting with Rob post-The Maiden. Thank you, Jessie for re-igniting my determination to move forward with People are Different.
Order the chicken!! It is superb. Still dreaming about it.
Maybe we ordered wrong but we did order the most expensive entre...The steak was sold as well marbled and the best bet. It was ordered as medium rare and though that was true it was tough and charred. The things on the plate were not 'pureed carrots' that you could eat just a smear over the plate to make it look awesome. The small potato mold was delicious. No veggies.
Anyway I have been going there since it was opened in the 70's and this time it was just not good food for the money. Sorry Harvest but I wont choose it for dinner in HSq again.
This is a true gem in Harvard Square, always superb and creative.
Every thing I had was of exceptional taste. The salmon with green beans, pureed carrots and quinoa sounds bland but it was so delicious I savored each bite. And the cinnamon sugar fritters with apple butter was a treat.
First rate overall. I would recommend to anyone.
Great food, great drink, great service.
We dined after a matinee at ART and the staff asked whether we had any time restrictions. They sat us promptly and the service was great. We had oysters (fantastic) a salad and appetizer before we dined on porchetta and a fish dish. Everything was first rate and we split the chocolate dessert. It was a very nice evening indeed
Really has become a special place to us! Had our wedding send-off brunch here and have been back several times for delicious dining experiences.
Great wine rec, the som rules. Couple at the next table was on a really awkward first date. Hope they have a 2nd. Unreal meal, will come back!!
Food is excellent, but I would enjoy more traditional desserts - olive oil sorbet and olive oil cakes are not what I am looking for at the end of an excellent meal. The salads are wonderful.
It took 25 minutes for anyone to come by to greet us, with exception of the very nice water guy.
We had our team holiday celebration for lunch. Food was delicious and served promptly. I would highly recommend.
Innovative menu and all superbly prepared and presented.
