This has been my go to place since Monster Sushi closed.
I found the service inattentive, the short rib appetizer dry and over cooked, and the sushi not the freshest.
I will have to find another go to for Japanese
I've eaten at Haru many times and this was my first time at this location. Service and food were great as always. I would definitely return again
Rosalie is a wonderful server! Started with the Crispy Duck and Tuna Tataki. Both were fantastic, first time have the duck. Sumo, Spicy Tuna, and Shrimp Tempura rolls followed. The whole night was remarkable. Thanks Haru Chelsea!!!
We come to Chelsea Haru pretty often as well as order in from here pretty regularly. The sushi may be a bit more expensive but it is so much fresher and more delicious than any other sushi restaurant in the area. Additionally, the hot entrees are delicious. The lunch bento boxes are an excellent value as well. I highly recommend Haru.
Great Japanese restaurant, across the street from the Joyce Theatre.
Julia is a wonderful server, friendly and very knowledgeable.Started with the a new addition to menus Short Rib Yakitori, which was very good. Also the Popcorn Shrimp Tempura always a winner. Followed with Park Ave specialty roll and Crunchy Spiced Tuna Roll. A couple Asahi beers and some Tito's vodka made for another wonderful evening at HARU Chelsea!!!
Had a wonderful meal this past Daturday night. Great food at a reasonable price in an elegant environment.
Really great place .. LOVED THE DESSERTS ... A MUST to close the meal
Our food was not very fresh. The wasabi on the side had formed a hard coating from sitting out to long. my shumai felt rubbery and looked as if it were sitting out as well. It was not steamed fresh but appeared to have been Re-steamed. When booking my reservation I indicated the occasion was date night. I had a large bouquet of flowers in my hand and they sat us at a small table in the middle of the crowded room. There were several booths available so we had to ask to be moved. The only reason I didn’t reduce the stars lower is they allowed us to talk 30 min after they closed without interruption.
Our server David was excellent. Started with popcorn shrimp and edamane. Next we had Haru Wasabi,Kamikaze,Shitake Cucumber, and Avocado rolls. Desert was Mochi Ice Cream 3 flavors green tea,red bean, and vanilla. The entire dinner was superb!!! A great night at HARU CHELSEA thank you.
My daughter was performing at the Joyce Theater.
We first chose Haru for its proximity to the Joyce. As first time diners at Haru , we were more than pleasantly surprised by the delicious fresh food, great service, ambiance, selection of liquor, and the ability to dine with a group of friends comfortably! We have returned to dine there several times since!!!
The waiter failed to let us know that it was still Happy Hour or to offer us the Happy Hour menu. Service was slow.
Same great restaurant that I’m used to on the UES and Broadway areas. Edamame dumplings are incredibly delicious.
Excellent sushi, decently priced. Full bar, attentive service.
Always Fantastic looking forward to my next visit!
great food and service as always. this restaurant has been a consistently great standby for years. will definitely continue to be my go-to sushi place
Consistently good Japanese-inspired food, especially sushi and sashimi. Service is graceful and usually efficient. Sake list is limited in quantity, but features a range of quality (jumai to daiginjo).
Emilia is a wonderful server, makes you feel like family. Popcorn Shrimp Tempura, Kabuki, and Prefect Fantasy were fantastic. Always a great night at Chelsea Haru.
Our server Julia was amazing. She had worked at the Gramercy Haru and now is at Chelsea. Starters 2 lobster Taco's , popcorn shrimp and Tuna Tataki were great as usual. 2 Spicy Tuna Rolls, Harumi Tuna, and Sumo was a lot of food, but worth it. The whole dinner for the 4 of us was tremendous! Another great night at Haru Chelsea!! Thanks
Kin Wai was a great server. We started Tuna Tataki and Popcorn Shrimp Tempura always great starters. Spicey Tuna Roll and Park Avenue speciality roll with brown rice for a change, $1.00 extra. Very different, but really good. Thanks for another great night at HARU Chelsea
Wonderful service by Long. Started with Tuna Tataki and Lobster Tacos, always great. 2 Spicey Tuna,Philadelphia and Kamikaze maki rolls. Outstanding and forced the ice cream sandwich on ourselves. Ice cream on chocolate chip cookies. Fantastic night at Chelsea HARU.
Another one of my neighborhood favorites! I came here with my friend and we had a wonderful dining experience.
Long is an excellent server. Edamame and Lobster Taco's to start. Fantastic. Shrimp Tempura Roll, Avocado Roll, Shiitake Cucumber Roll, and the specialty Chelsea Roll all were perfect, very, very good. For dessert we had the Vanilla Mochi. They also had a nice Restaurant week offering, but we ordered off the regular menu. Another great night at Chelsea Haru. Thanks you!!!
Great food and service and across the street from the Joyce Theater in Chelsea.
The food was mediocre and the service was horrendous. I had eaten at Haru in Times Square numerous times and enjoyed it. This new Haru, altho convenient to The Joyce Theater, was a huge disappointment.
Food took way too long to order and to receive. By the time we received our food we were too annoyed to enjoy it. We wanted to order more but did not want to spend the whole night waiting. This was on a weekday. If you have the patience it's fine. But we got very annoyed.
Julienne was a fantastic server, Tuna Tataki and Lobster Taco's are perfect tasty starters, Sicey Tuna Roll, Spicy Crab Roll and Maguro Poke were very very good. Great night at Chelsea Haru.
The service and food are FANTASTIC! Always a great night at Chelsea Haru.
Great food and great service!! Would definitely come back
Long was an excellent server.King Crab Dumplings very good.Tuna Tatki unbelieveable.Samurai is great if you are hungry and the spicey Tuna roll always good. Another great night at Haru Chelsea
Chelsea location makes it convenient for the Joyce Theater. Haru has a range of sake that is appealing. Food, especially raw fish, is always fresh and appealingly served.
Fantastic night. Emilia was a great server. The food was tremendous.
Thank you Haru Chelsea
The table wasn't ready when we arrived even though we'd made a reservation for a large group and called in advance to confirm. Then our meals were served at different times, with one of our party not getting his food until everyone else was done.
Have been to this Haru location twice before and this time was the weakest. The service is usually very slow and it takes forever for the dishes to arrive even when it is barely peopled.
I have been to only one other Haru and it is on the Upper West Side and it was only once but somehow the sushi seemed fresher. I doubt I will return to the Chelsea space given the stiff and slow service and the fair quality at more than fair pricing.
Long is a great server. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Food was tremendous. The new Madison Ave speciality roll was delicious. Lobster Taco's and Popcorn shrimp were unbelievable. And my wife loved the Phoenix Roll. Another great night at Chelsea Haru.
Great food and server.
Pre show dinner. Good menu. Fresh. Waiter loaned me a charger for my phone. Sooo nice. Reasonably priced
The welcome at the door was earnest and the service that followed was a quiet presence. The server knew the menu very well and gave excellent recommendations. We closed the place on a week night and weren't rushed out. Fish was fresh and the meat was perfectly cooked.
Our server Emilia was fantastic. Started with the delicious Lobster Taco's and Popcorn Shrimp.
Then an original Tuna Poke and the 3 roll Samurai. For dessert the new cheesecake with coconut, which is in a truffle form. Superb! Laurance the manager was very helpful too. Thanks for a great night at Haru Chelsea
Great for dinner before the Joyce. Sushi and crispy duck were delicious, and service was attentive.
