Harry's Daughter Caribbean Inspired Gastro Pub
Waited for a table although we had a reservation but they were apologetic and made up for it by giving us complimentary drinks. Service was excellent!
Great music and atmosphere. Authentic Caribbean food. Rum punch was delicious. Will be back for sure !
It’s a nice little quaint place, decor is nice, the DJ was on point with the music, the lighting could’ve been a little better, it was to dim so for those who a readers and can’t see to well in the dark this isn’t the place for you. If you come with a party please make sure the entire party is present because you will not be seated until the entire party is present. The menu is Caribbean then and the Food was wonderful but the drinks are a bit over price so anyone that loves to drink while dining, get your drink on before you go. Parking is tight so it’s best to Uber unless you know the area and know where to park. I was there on a Friday @ 7 and the place was already crowded so make reservations, try to get there early or be prepared to wait
This place was exactly what we were looking for. Cozy and low key. Ambiance was on point. Prices were reasonable. Food was Amazing. I even had to take an extra soup home. I’m definitely referring this place to all my friends. This will be our new hangout.
This place is fun and different but has some major flaws. First, the service was poor. After asking for her ginger beer three separate times, she finally went up to the bartender and got it herself. And the waiter sort of went awol after the food arrived. Also, the food was uneven. The salad dressing on one of the main salads was super watery, my shrimp (part of the shrimp curry special) were rubbery, and the vegetable that came with it was overcooked and bland. And I ordered the okra as a side dish which the waiter forgot to bring. On the plus side, the portions are huge, and some of the sauces were delicious. So I'd recommend it with reservations.
would have given 5 stars if not for the slow service. overall, worth the trip and food was delicious.
The owners are welcoming and make sure you are comfortable. The atmosphere is very friendly and staff are attentive. I always leave there feeling satisfied. I highly reccomend this Restaurant .
Exceptional food, atmosphere and service! We really enjoyed it.
My first visit to this establishment. Greeted by Ella who was a delight and seated at a high top which is a turn off due to age. Spouse had the red snapper with pumpkin rice which was delicious. I had the peri peri shrimp which was very spicy but delicious. My husband did not feel well so we took our dessert bread pudding home. The dessert was not worth ten dollars.
My complaint was a certain gentlemen brought me two dishes that were not mine and my pet peeve is clearing my dishes when my spouse was not finished his meal. I would go back again despite my minor complaints.
Run, don't walk, to Harry's Daughter! Some of the best food that I've had in a really long time. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt that I had to, given the wonderful meal that graced our table this evening.
My husband and I ordered the double-braised oxtail, peri peri shrimp, bonnet honey wings, and a Sorrel not Sorry cocktail. Mindblowingly thoughtfully cooked food that was complex down to the last bite. I've been searching for a decade for good oxtail, and the one served at Harry's was tender, juicy, and fatty right next to the bone, served with a rich sauce with beans that really complemented the pumpkin rice. My husband really enjoyed his shrimp as well. Honestly, it's hard to reinvent the wheel with wings, but the sticky bonnet honey glaze was not overly sweet, with a great smoky savoury quality to it as well. Lastly, the cocktail was refreshing and fun to drink, and the whiskey aftertaste made it even more interesting.
Our waiter was attentive and we had great service. Can't recommend Harry's Daughter enough, and can't wait to try out their brunch!
It was a perfect neighborhood gem. The food was awesome, good portions and the server was attentive.
Cannot wait to return.
Delicious food! Perfect portions. Great vibe, nice diverse crowd.
awesome food and drinks. I had the chicken and waffles and the rum punch. The music was great
The food was okay. It’s not authentic Caribbean food, but still enjoyed it. The waitress did not know much about the menu.
The food and service was excellent. I had the ox tail and the peri pedi shrimp, and both were delicious.... I practically licked my plate clean... no joke! The bartender, Alister, was super friendly, made great cocktails and recommended tasty wine! Can’t wait to go back and try the jerk chicken red snapper and for the live reggae music on Sunday, dj on Friday and rum punch happy hour on Thursday!
Even Better Than the 1st Time. We'll have to keep coming back until we've gotten through the entire menu.
Celebrated my wife’s birthday on Sunday, and wasn’t aware that a band would be playing. Everything was perfect, from the snapper to the service!
Great time. My husband and I went for brunch. The food was really good and the Rum Punch was even better. The service was very good. I believe she was the head cook was from Trinidad and gave us some insight on the food and Trinidadian culture which was pretty cool. Just be mindful of parking cause it is Jersey City (only street parking), but other than that great experience...will definitely go back.
Great place definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood.
The homemade ginger beer and the jerk chicken are legit. Cocktails were well made. The steam pork buns are so underrated. It took me by surprise!
Feels authentic, food tasted great and there was plenty to take home and enjoy the next day.
