Harris' Ratings and Reviews
Food was great service was exceptional we had a porterhouse steak that you could cut with a fork im getting hungry just thinking about it now can't wait to go back only small issue was I ordered my steak medium well and it came well done it was late so i ate it and it was still very good
The steak was good and the server was okay but quite honestly the whole restaurant interior needs to be updated the large dining area was old-fashioned poor lighting and unattractive banquette seating the library area was a little bit better on the atmosphere but again the whole interior needs to be demoed and get a great architect in there and make it nice
Disappointing overall. The service was not very attentive and I don’t think well trained for a restaurant of this caliber & price. The food was good, but not great. We canceled a reservation at Waterbar to eat here- probably should have stayed with the original plan.
Our reservation was for 5:15 on New Year's Eve and we were seated immediately. But I was disappointed as this is also our anniversary and we were seated in a back room at a table. I was wanting a booth in the main dining room, but we walked past all of them.
The food was good but I was disappointed with only 2 seafood entree selections (salmon and lobster tail) as they advertise as a "steak and seafood" dining experience.
The waitress was very nice and so were the other servers. My petite filet was prepared as I ordered and I would say "good" but not exceptional for $49. My husband said his chicken entre was excellent.
We weren't unhappy with the experience, but expected something a little bit more special for New Year's Eve and also their price point. Also, and our early dining time should not have put us in a back room. We will go back again for sure but now know to make sure we get a booth and won't expect many seafood options.
This restaurant receives a very high rating from Zagat for its food. It is a steakhouse and while the quality of the meat is top notch what the chefs choose to do with it is a crime. We ordered a grilled 20 oz bone in ribeye medium rare to share. What we received was a decent cut of meat, more 'poached' rather than grilled with no charred crust, no seasoning and with a very flabby juiceless texture. It was such a disappointment. The sides were ok, but without really doing justice to or bringing out the natural qualities of the mushrooms and the sauteed onions we ordered. Won't be going back or recommending it to others.
The food and table service was excellent. However, upon arrival, we were kept waiting 10 minutes at the Hostess desk while she seemed to be selling gift cards to folks standing around in hoodies and shorts. The reception process was disappointing and actually quite tacky.
Had never been here before. We are from out of town and come to SF for great dining experiences and this was certainly one of them. An old school feeling and good cocktails. Our waiter was ultra professional and paid just the right amount of attention to us, I wish I had asked her name for the next time as we will be back.
This was Christmas Dinner with our best friends. Reception and service was exceptional.
The food, exquisite. Chef Michael was in the house and on his game. We all ate beef and enjoyed every bite. The Prime Rib is the best one can find. Another wonderful Holiday gathering. Thank you Harris .. The Steak House!
We enjoyed our visit to Harris'. We chose this location for dinner before an orchestra performance for the dress code and service recommendations we had received. The food and service were absolutely phenomenal. We only had one complaint: speed. While we did have something to attend that evening, dinner still took an extremely long time. Other diners who came in after us were served before us. Our dinner, which should have taken about an hour, ended up over two hours long. Most of the time was spent waiting for the next course. We really enjoyed our server and the atmosphere, the wait time was a bit painful, though, when everyone around us was served at a steady pace. We do plan on returning at some point when we do not have an engagement afterwards.
