Harris' Restaurant has three elegant private dining rooms to suit a variety of event needs: The Boardroom, an intimate round table that seats 8 to 12 guests, The Library, a cozy room for up to 22 diners and the luxurious Skylight Room, which seats 72 for dining or 100 for a cocktail reception.View Private Dining Details
Harris continues to be a favorite for many reasons. It is an elegant steakhouse---if you dine early, it can be a quiet place to eat especially if you prefer a more subdued venue. People looking for noisy, cavernous places, go elsewhere. Coming to Harris means focusing on the steak and your company. I enjoyed a 16 ounce steak, bone-in, cooked to perfection. It came with baked potato and all the trimmings, which a kind waiter served. Steam broccoli, al dente. Perfect. They are sensitive to older, seasoned diners and while all people are welcome, do not come here looking for loud music for those seeking to be easily distracted. Wear your nice clothes. Keep your jeans at home. And manners count. You want informal? There is another place just down the street.
It was a beautiful high end fantastic experience
While service and sides were great I unfortunately got a off piece of meat (bone in ribeye) that was not as tender as expected. Things happen and I will be sure to not let it deter me from coming back. The hand crafted cocktails were amazing. The potatoes au gratin were on point!
It was a very nice steak house with a classic dinner menu.
Just fabulous all round great mixologists creating cocktails with stylish ambience great food and wine.
Dinner was AMAZING! The steak is a great value and comes with sides for the price. The drink menu was a little expensive but overall the restaurant was well worth it!
Amazing steak and cocktails. Love the jazz band in the bar area.
This is an old haunt of ours which we had not visited in about 12 years. The restaurant remains a wonderful setting for a special occasion meal. It is a beautiful spot, the service was incredible and perfectly timed. However, this classic steak house served us both steaks that were good, but not as good as we have elsewhere. The flavor of the beef was a bit off. It was not bad; it just didn't taste as good as it should have. For about 10-12 years we have been frequenting Ruth's Chris Steak House, a few blocks down the street, which we both find more flavorful, tender and juicy. It pains me to write this, as we still love the restaurant. The salad, potatoes and onion rings were all still superb.
We had a "siblings" dinner for four of us. Three hadn't had a great "steakhouse" experience and we thought we'd give Harris' a try. It was well worth it. We ordered fois gras, filet, lamb chops, prime rib and the bone-in ribeye, all done perfectly. It's a pricey spot but well worth it for a special dinner. I loved the creamed spinach.
Steak dinner was prepared perfectly, service was wonderful, desert was delicious, environment was warm and lively.
Lucy was such a good server that next time I go I will ask to be seated at her station!
I came here with my dad for the first time tonight and had an excellent time; the steaks were delicious, the wine list is top-notch and the service was impeccable. Highly recxoment
Wow! what a steak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very good server, professional. Steak tartare excellent, rib eye and New York cooked correctly but would have like thicker cuts. Prime rib cut correctly but came rare to us not Med rare. Definitely come back
Everything was excellent from our server to each dish. Could not have had a better time and will certainly be back.
High class restaurant which has a dress code that it doesn't adhere to. Enjoyed the evening but disappointed we were surrounded by bogans.
We had a very good dinner. Our waiter was as very good. He worked very hard to please us. We definitely will be back.
Our dinner was completely faultless. Food, drinks, wine, and service were all first class.
We've been many times when visiting San Francisco, and we are never disappointed. We're going back one more time on this trip!
This is my second to visit to Harris'. I live in DC but my Mom lives in the area, and I must say that Harris' has THE BEST Prime Rib. I love Prime Rib, and this is the best I've had anywhere in the country. If I can fly across country just for this, anyone living in the area should definitely take time to visit.
The restaurant is overrated for the food. The service was good. If you are looking for great food, this is not the place for it.
Harris's is the quintessential place for a beautiful steak in lovely surroundings, with good service. It's a classic.
Second trip to SF in less than a year, both with visits to Harris. First time (July 2017) thought it was the best steak I've ever eaten. This time, just as good. The consistency was amazing. Ambience is comfortable, like a gentleman's club (dark wood, hunting prints) but with a real laid back welcoming vibe. Dress ran from casual to jacket and tie. Ambience supported the dinner (this is what a steak house is supposed to look like). The waiter, Dave, was accommodating and attentive. The wine list was broad with a full price range. Don't miss the onion rings or the Ceaser, but the steak.....wow! The Harris was a 16oz bone in cooked perfectly (21 day dry aged). Could not have been better: ambience, service, food. Can't wait to return.
Harris is a fairly standard steakhouse option. Steaks were solid if unspectacular. Plates were cool at service which is a bit of a bummer, and I cannot say the meat was of exceptional quality. They struck me as a decent choice cut from the store. We had theHarris steak (their signature plate) and the ribeye. Apps were good too get the mussels which were very good. Service was very good
Bar scene was nice but crowded....we came ona Saturday nite tho so that is my problem. Overall a great option if u have two carnivorous sons like we do for a special occasion - but it is a bit pricey for what u get....
The service is “old school”and professional. Food and wine were excellent and ambiance is classic and clubby. This is a wonderful restaurant. Be prepared to spend money.
The restaurant is a great find my Son and I was very happy with everything from Appetizers to Dessert. If your ever in the San Francisco area it should be 1 restaurant that you definitely need to check out. I'm so glad that we did the wait staff was on point and the server was exceptional in her knowledge of what's on the menu. She was very polite and making sure that my Son's nut allergy was addressed by checking out everything from the bread to his choice of entree. We definitely will be back we give it 5 stars. ☆☆☆☆☆
I love their Filet Migon, medium rare n it always cooked perfectly n it melts in my mouth. People tell me to try other steak house but living here my whole life in San Francisco, their no better Steak House than HARRIS Steak House. I always try different sides with my Steak n I had the Potata Scallops n Cream Spinich n it was PERFECT. My brother in law had the Ribeye Steak n cooked perfectly. Thank You Harris.
Harris's is definitely an upscale steak house, so be prepared to shell out around $500 for a dinner for 4. Having said that, it is beautiful, the service is impeccable, you can actually hear yourself and each other, and the food and drinks are amazing! Definitely great for a special occasion!
A classic in San Francisco. Great steak and buffalo when available, good old fashioned service. No surprises.
Wonderful steak choices, fantastic service. We always enjoy a dinner at Harris Steak. On this particular occasion, the music was especially wonderful. A piano-bass combo played jazz with exceptional skill.
The steak was too chewy. You do not want rubber at top steak house.
Fantastic Birthday dinner. First time for my wife and she was very impressed. Will go back again.
One of the last of the 20th century special "Old San Francisco" restaurants. The feel/ambiance, decor, food, and service are superb. We come here usually for pre or post concert occasions (son is a classical musician). Host/Hostess is most accommodating.
The Erving was great with a few old friends getting together. Harris is a good restaurant but it was far too dark in the dinning room, to the point it hurt my eyes. And although the food was very good, it was not $50-$70 per plate good. We could have easily had as good of food for less at another location. That is just my opinion as I can’t speak for everyone in my group, but I don’t think I would go back unless other options were not available. I want to be clear this is not a reflection in the service or the quality of the food both were good, I was just unimpressed with the prices (both for food and drinks) and how dark the dinning room was.
If you'd like prime rib without the show, Harris' is the place to go !!
Easily one of the best steakhouses in San Francisco. Excellent steaks (exotic meat options, like Bison), sides are INCLUDED, and an impressive wine list. Atmosphere is quiet and more formal than other comparable steakhouses.
Steaks were excellent, spinach salad very nice. I enjoyed the scalloped potatoes. Rey. Ice wine list
Fabulous service, amazing food, and very consistent.
Everything was perfect! Nice Location, very friendly staff, excellent food!
