Dinner was AMAZING! The steak is a great value and comes with sides for the price. The drink menu was a little expensive but overall the restaurant was well worth it!

This is an old haunt of ours which we had not visited in about 12 years. The restaurant remains a wonderful setting for a special occasion meal. It is a beautiful spot, the service was incredible and perfectly timed. However, this classic steak house served us both steaks that were good, but not as good as we have elsewhere. The flavor of the beef was a bit off. It was not bad; it just didn't taste as good as it should have. For about 10-12 years we have been frequenting Ruth's Chris Steak House, a few blocks down the street, which we both find more flavorful, tender and juicy. It pains me to write this, as we still love the restaurant. The salad, potatoes and onion rings were all still superb.

We had a "siblings" dinner for four of us. Three hadn't had a great "steakhouse" experience and we thought we'd give Harris' a try. It was well worth it. We ordered fois gras, filet, lamb chops, prime rib and the bone-in ribeye, all done perfectly. It's a pricey spot but well worth it for a special dinner. I loved the creamed spinach.

High class restaurant which has a dress code that it doesn't adhere to. Enjoyed the evening but disappointed we were surrounded by bogans.

Our dinner was completely faultless. Food, drinks, wine, and service were all first class.
We've been many times when visiting San Francisco, and we are never disappointed. We're going back one more time on this trip!

This is my second to visit to Harris'. I live in DC but my Mom lives in the area, and I must say that Harris' has THE BEST Prime Rib. I love Prime Rib, and this is the best I've had anywhere in the country. If I can fly across country just for this, anyone living in the area should definitely take time to visit.

The restaurant is overrated for the food. The service was good. If you are looking for great food, this is not the place for it.

Second trip to SF in less than a year, both with visits to Harris. First time (July 2017) thought it was the best steak I've ever eaten. This time, just as good. The consistency was amazing. Ambience is comfortable, like a gentleman's club (dark wood, hunting prints) but with a real laid back welcoming vibe. Dress ran from casual to jacket and tie. Ambience supported the dinner (this is what a steak house is supposed to look like). The waiter, Dave, was accommodating and attentive. The wine list was broad with a full price range. Don't miss the onion rings or the Ceaser, but the steak.....wow! The Harris was a 16oz bone in cooked perfectly (21 day dry aged). Could not have been better: ambience, service, food. Can't wait to return.

Harris is a fairly standard steakhouse option. Steaks were solid if unspectacular. Plates were cool at service which is a bit of a bummer, and I cannot say the meat was of exceptional quality. They struck me as a decent choice cut from the store. We had theHarris steak (their signature plate) and the ribeye. Apps were good too get the mussels which were very good. Service was very good
Bar scene was nice but crowded....we came ona Saturday nite tho so that is my problem. Overall a great option if u have two carnivorous sons like we do for a special occasion - but it is a bit pricey for what u get....

The restaurant is a great find my Son and I was very happy with everything from Appetizers to Dessert. If your ever in the San Francisco area it should be 1 restaurant that you definitely need to check out. I'm so glad that we did the wait staff was on point and the server was exceptional in her knowledge of what's on the menu. She was very polite and making sure that my Son's nut allergy was addressed by checking out everything from the bread to his choice of entree. We definitely will be back we give it 5 stars. ☆☆☆☆☆

People tell me to try other steak house but living here my whole life in San Francisco, their no better Steak House than HARRIS Steak House. I always try different sides with my Steak n I had the Potata Scallops n Cream Spinich n it was PERFECT. My brother in law had the Ribeye Steak n cooked perfectly. Thank You Harris.

Harris's is definitely an upscale steak house, so be prepared to shell out around $500 for a dinner for 4. Having said that, it is beautiful, the service is impeccable, you can actually hear yourself and each other, and the food and drinks are amazing! Definitely great for a special occasion!

One of the last of the 20th century special "Old San Francisco" restaurants. The feel/ambiance, decor, food, and service are superb. We come here usually for pre or post concert occasions (son is a classical musician). Host/Hostess is most accommodating.

The Erving was great with a few old friends getting together. Harris is a good restaurant but it was far too dark in the dinning room, to the point it hurt my eyes. And although the food was very good, it was not $50-$70 per plate good. We could have easily had as good of food for less at another location. That is just my opinion as I can’t speak for everyone in my group, but I don’t think I would go back unless other options were not available. I want to be clear this is not a reflection in the service or the quality of the food both were good, I was just unimpressed with the prices (both for food and drinks) and how dark the dinning room was.

Easily one of the best steakhouses in San Francisco. Excellent steaks (exotic meat options, like Bison), sides are INCLUDED, and an impressive wine list. Atmosphere is quiet and more formal than other comparable steakhouses.

I chose this restaurant for a special occasion with high expectation, but the service really disappointed us. It’s unbelievable that they served an over cooked steak. When a group came in and blocked the main dining room, they stopped coming to our table. Overall, it’s embarrassing for this restaurant to be rated as 4 stars on Yelp.

Harris’ is my favorite steakhouse in SF. It’s classy and beautiful in the traditional way, with leather booths and palms and subdued lighting.
The service is extremely warm and professional.

The food is delicious and generous. Steaks come with potatoes and vegetable, so no extra price for those. All the steaks are great. I love the Harris Bone-in Strip, and also the 49er cut, but all the steaks are really good.

Their Caesar salad is my favorite of all the Caesars in the city, with a wonderful dressing, and real anchovies.

In summary, a very first rate experience and highly recommended!

Sadly, we were incredibly disappointed from ‘start to finish’.

We entered the restaurant to an empty maitre d’ station. We waited so long, a busboy had to come over to great us, until the maitre d’ finally did return. We requested a small booth, and (instead of listening to our actual request), the maitre d’ rudely told us ‘no round booths are available’. His assistant had to explain our actual request (!).

The service was extremely poor (could not accommodate a drink choice, forgot to bring steak sauce to the table, literally dropped the dessert menu on the table (instead of handing them to us).

And although my dining partner’s prime rib was delicious, my bone-in rib eye was a very poor cut with considerable gristle.

In short, a terrible experience for an (allegedly) five-star restaurant.

I get the shtick: A well established local restaurant - who lives on its undeserved reputation - rather than living up to the standards that made the establishment great at one time.

After reading the reviews & seeing the dress code, I was surprised to have a man in a tee shirt seated next to us with his wife & 3 kids. Not quite the atmosphere I was expecting for A supposedly "up scale" establishment? Food was so so? I had the prime rib & wife had petit filet. The service was great, but the overall experience did not warrant the price.
