In our lounge we have live jazz nightly.
Although the lounge is available for more casual dining, we do have a dress code in the main dining room: please, no shorts, t-shirts or sportswear.

Absolutely fantastic meal. Hope its not the last!
Expensive but worth it for a special occasion. It is a real shame that others are now going to have to wait to sample the fantastic steaks they have.
My family and I have been going to Harris' for special occasions over the past 30 years and had good memories, so we decided to go again this year for my brother's birthday. Our waiter's service was a huge disappointment and ruined the evening for us. Our waiter was totally inattentive throughout the entire meal; we actually had to flag him down 2 times to get his attention so we could order a 2nd round of cocktails and at the end, he had the nerve to mention the tip. We had all planned to get dessert, but decided to leave without ordering any due to the horrible service. I highly recommend avoiding this restaurant, unless you don't mind paying over $100 per person for a meal with poor service.
Please note: the food and the other staff that we interacted with (such as the host and the bussers) were excellent.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary. Quite and romantic. We shared the crabcakes and lobster mac and cheese. My wife had the petite steak and I had the petite filet mignon. The food and service was excellent!
I loved it first time there and will be going back
Best steak I've had in years - really excellent!! Silly dessert menu, very mediocre salads and starters -
A beautiful steakhouse serving great steaks - we will be back soon -
Steak was phenomenal. A must do when in San Francisco.
Last night of vacation with friends, we expected quite an experience and we all felt a little overdressed. But our server was quite good, and honestly should be working in maybe a higher level restaurant!
Took my dad, who was visiting from out of town. I had the prime rib and he had the wagyu ribeye. The prime rib was so tender and juicy, and the wagyu was flavorful but a little tougher than expected for a $95 steak (was cooked medium rare). But overall a fantastic experience and high quality steaks!
Food was okay. For the price, you would expect more. Ordered medium well. The filet came out more well done. The tartar was essentially ground hamburger meat mixed with capers.
The rib eye and the filet mignon were incredibly tender and delicious.
It was a wonderful experience.
This evening was to celebrate 3 birthdays in our family. And it was great. We sampled some great bourbon, had delicious steaks, and service was terrific. Just an excellent event for all.
This is one of our family's favorite places. The steaks are always the best but I must say the service is superb. Not only was the server attentive but I brought a bottle of special wine and first, they were interested in the wine and not upset about my bringing my own. The cork was a problem and they worked diligently to get it out and while it took time, they did get it. Great place no queston
I never visit SF without going to Harris'. One note about the "noise" level in the survey. I always sit in the lounge area, where there is always a combo playing. Not noise, just great music!
Really cool classic steakhouse
All the food was great, good taste, and service was excellent
Old San Francisco classy dinning. Great food. Great service. Great ambiance.
Birthday . Terrific meal- incredible experience
This is a classic steakhouse. If you like steak and Prime rib, this is as good as it gets. Outstanding wine list. If you are looking for small plates, Harris' is not for you! Dress up. Go early and enjoy a great trio in the bar.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service, very expensive but you know that going in!
An older Steakhouse with very high quality meat. We used to love going to Sundance Palo Alto, Harris will be our new fav. I ordered the rib-eye, it was cooked to perfection, very juicy. My daughter got the Executive-cut Prime rib, it was so good. We didn’t have room for dessert. Service was excellent too. Overall, great experience.
Best “old school” steakhouse in San Francisco. Nothing fancy here but good solid steaks, well prepared. Good cocktails and a fantastic wine list. You can’t go wrong here!
The perfect high end steak restaurant experience. Fantastic steaks (of course) and great service.
Stick to the meat and potatoes! Appetizers and desserts were not worth the price.
Even though Harris kicked off in mid-80s, it is an old school style SF steak house, even for city old-timers like yours truly. You know going in you will get very good food. Let there be no doubt Harris is expensive $$$$ but you don't go there every night so you will survive the experience. The decor is clubby and pleasant, wood paneled walls and cushy booths. The bar is classic and there is music in PMs. Valet parking available on Pacific. Van Ness at Pacific. Have fun. Enjoy yourself.
Came here for a nice evening dinner with my GF and it’s all worth it...this year I started to treat eating meat as a luxury. So when it was time for a nice steak. Why not Harris and they didn’t let me down. I had the porterhouse and it was awesome and delicious. My also favorite is the fried mushroom, not too oily. We also sat in a room like a small library facing the piano. Thought the noise would be overpowering, but it wasn’t and it was actual nice. Thought they would have a strict dress code. But I guess they have a section if your not wearing the proper clothing. Which is cool. Overall love it here and would recommend it to anybody
Love this place, but after the first 15 min of being seated, we didn’t get much attention at all. Even though everything else was great, this soured our experience a bit.
We went with friends to celebrate Valentine’s Day. They ordered salads that we were never given, but also never charged for. We left completely stuffed so we didn’t ask about it.
The steak was amazing and so was the dessert (we got the ice cream trio). Our corkage fee was waived 😀 all the servers were very nice
This is the spot when you want a good steak. Classic
Great service and dinner. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive
Fantastic service. Feeling of being in a nice restaurant. We have asked for table for 6. We we’re a bit cramped adding 2 extra chairs in a coach u shaped tabled.. expected better.
They know about steaks..pricey...
We had an amazing time celebrating Valentine's day with my wife here. Awesome kitchen. Splendid service. Looking forward to the next time.
Great service and food and atmosphere is very relaxing and fun. Sitting at the bar for dinner is a great experience fun bartenders great personality and professionalism and the live jazz entertainment tops it off for a nice time. Who knows maybe you’ll meet some cool people like we did. Go there it’s worth your time and money. I know we’ll return.
Great food! Our waiter was excellent and educated, answering all of our questions. Definitely recommend and will return when back in the city!
Everything was fantastic as usual. We loved the food, the service and the ambiance. We come to San Francisco every year for our anniversary, and come to Harris' when it is open. We have been disappointed o a couple of occasions to find it closed due to the Super Bowl, which they take off so their employees can enjoy it. On those occasions no restaurant has come close to the excellent food or service we receive at Harris'. We always recommend it to our friends.
Absolutely fantastic; exceeded expectations. Service was top notch by all, but especially our server, Andy. And live jazz on top of it? C'mon! Yeah, this is a new favorite for us when visiting the City.
Absolutely amazing. Steak was great and the cocktails were outstanding.
Ceaser salad wasn't very good and the steaks initially came out very salty. They quickly replaced them and comped us on an additional appetizer we ordered while we waited for the new steaks. Service was great.
More than amazing... the food, the service. It was evening well spent. I was definitely in good hands.
We've been going to Harris' for 36 years and the last two times the service has not been as good. I should stress that this was not our primary server's fault. We had the same server the last two times and she was managing mostly on her own while some of the other tables were helped by more people. Harris' seems to be understaffed. We had to wait 25 minutes to place our drink order and there were long waits for each course and for the butter and sour cream for the baked potatoes. Also, the filet mignon seemed just adequate in flavor compared to the usual excellent quality of the beef. The management needs to get its act together.
