In our lounge we have live jazz nightly.
Although the lounge is available for more casual dining, we do have a dress code in the main dining room: please, no shorts, t-shirts or sportswear.

Our waiter was amazing! I have only one complaint in that we purposely used the bandy sauce sparingly to take home. We told them we wanted the sauces to go, especially the brandy sauce since you have to pay for it ($9 - which was so worth it). When we got home, they packed all the other sauces BUT the brandy sauce. So frustrating. Overall it was a great dinner for our anniversary. We will def come back.
This is the best place for steaks in San Francisco and the only place we go when hungry for a steak. The New York steaks and the fillets are the best cuts and prepared perfectly. I’m sure the other cuts are done equally well. They also do a nice job with salads and accompanying vegetables. The tomato salad was excellent, locally sourced and very clean flavors, not overdone with vinegar.
It’s a great evening, especially on a foggy night in San Francisco. The room is straight out of a great old movie, lots of wood, warm lighting and comfortable seating. We slid into one of their banquets that make conversation private and lend themselves to martinis and manhattans. The place was full, including the tables in the bar as it always seems to be, yet never feels crowded or noisy.
Our only knock on the restaurant was that their wine list is not current; they were out of the first two wines we chose and did not have the vintage listed on the third.
Wonderful place. You can feel the history inside. Great meat 🥩
Everything was perfect!
Loved that there were so many booths an we weren't seated at a table right next to another table
also that it was so quiet.
Lovely old restaurant, chandeliers and beautiful red leather booths. I loved it, best steak I've ever had .
Phenomenal steak dinner as always at one of San Francisco's culinary institutions. Can't wait for the next wonderful excuse to return to Harris' Steak House. Bon Apetit!
My husband and I celebrated our 28th anniversary at your restaurant on August 17, 2019. It was not our first visit to your establishment but it was the best!!
As soon as we walked through your door, we were warmly welcomed by everyone on your staff. The food was fabulous, our waiter was professional, informed and friendly, and your prices were reasonable.
We have shared our experience with many of our friends. And we will be back soon!
Fantastic food, amazing service (thanks Andy). Loved dining in the music bar area.
We had never been there as we are Washington State, my wife has always wanted an intimate dinning experience. We were finally taking our honeymoon after 7 years of marriage. Thank you for a great dining experience and we will recommend Harris to our friends. Thank you again for the great service, food and lovely atmosphere.
One of the best steakhouses in the country, and I've been to all of them. The food is the best, the menu is comprehensive and Su Chen and her trio make the jazz just right and puts Harris's at the top of the steakhouse restaurant experience in the USA.
This traditional, elegant steak house is a long time San Francisco fixture and perfect special occasion restaurant -- but I could not afford to eat here on a regular basis.
Overall, very pleased with dining experience.
Ordered the prime rib. Was perfectly cooked and was delicious. My only issue was the wait staff could been better. Our waiter was very good but
could have tended to us more often. One busboy had terrible body odor. A big no-no in the dining industry.
Gorgeous wine recommended by server and lovely relaxed restaurant. Amazing steak and live background music. Visited with family whilst in holiday.
Perfect, actually exquisite meal. Perfect and quiet, intimate atmosphere. Perfect for conversation. Perfect attention from waitstaff: informative, congenial, non-intrusive. Perfect cocktails and live jazz. Perfectly wonderful wine list.
My friend and I enjoyed our dinner so much here
This is a traditional steakhouse complete with red leather booths and lots of beef. The beef is well aged and exceptional. My husband had lamb chops (American) perfectly cooked. Service was a little slow but server was very good. It’s expensive but you expect that in this kind of place. It could use a little brightening up.
Service was so fast for an upscale steakhouse, it felt like the waitstaff just wanted to get out of there. We were hardly noticed.
Classic steak place with great food. Highly recommend for dinner.
One of our best steak restaurant in San Francisco.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and we could not have eaten at a better steak house. The steaks were perfectly done (medium-rare), the ambience was romantic, and the service was attentive. Thank you Harris’ for ending our anniversary on such a perfect note.
One of the best in san Francisco for steak and prime rib
Maybe the perfect steak house experience. The food is great. We had some scallops as an appetizer that were perfect. The prime rib creamed spinach and scalloped potatoes were fresh and perfectly prepared. Because the sides are included it turns out to be a good deal. Even the bread (epi) was great. We will return.
This place was recommended to us and I would have to say this is one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. The salad was delicious the soup of the day was delicious, you can’t go wrong with ordering. It is expensive but you will not leave disappointed.
Food was delicious .The staff was great. There was no rush to get us out of there.
This is our 3rd time and we only go when visiting SF. Our waiter was polite but did not offer to replenish our drinks. We had a table by the kitchen so the ambience was less than desirable. On a good note, I had to move my reservation a few times and the person who answered the phone was great. I’m not sure if we got poor service because we had our kids but we are usually very generous tippers so we would have made up for the tip even though the bill was not large. I must say this is most likely off the list the next time I go to SF which is a shame. I hope the waiter gets more training as he was sub par for a restaurant of that quality.
Great food as usual
I come back every year since 2006
Always a quiet classy experience
Outstanding as always! One of our favorite places.
Thanks so very much for the great service and food. You made my girlfriend’s birthday dinner great
Began early celebrations of our anniversary at Harris' on Saturday evening, which we haven't been to in many years. Made an appointment on OpenTable, arrived 30 minutes early to enjoy time at the old-style piano bar. The bartenders were so friendly and treated us very well!
The maître d gave us the table we asked for as an anniversary present even though their were several couples ahead of us for that specific ask. The porterhouse was so delicious and large enough that it could have fed three of us. For dessert, a special anniversary message was written out on white chocolate. And after dinner, we revisited the bar for a nice cognac. Four hours later we were walking home on a clear night in the perfect temperature! I'm a huge fan of this establishment!
Reserved a table for 2 for a celebration. We had to wait to be seated, we were seated in this off room not in the main dining area, our waitress forgot about us a few times, it seemed to take a long time to get anything to the table besides my salad. Then the waitress stood over us as we paid and tipped. The food and wine was really delicious. A shame that everything else was a little mediocre.
The food was AMAZING, the service was TOP NOTCH!! Would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to San Francisco!!!
I have been going to this restaurant for years, however this experience was a poor one. Brought my parents to dinner here for their anniversary. Even stated that on opentables website along with a special request. Usually in special requests, once you say anniversary, the restaurant takes care of it.
Nice waiter but inexact infos about vegetable. Too much cream in the gratin dauphinois, hard to digest. The desert with little diced peach was a poor idea with unfriendly savors. The service saved the evening by being patient and polite
Lots of choices. Great wait staff!
If you want to experience a high end stake house in SF this is not it.. you will spend the money like it was a high en restaurant but is not.
The food is just average.
Tons of better options .
Sometimes you need a nice, quiet, clubby place with great martinis and tasty food. Harris' delivers. And the service was impeccable. While any occasion is fine, I like meeting up with old friends here; it sets an appropriate tone.
