This was our time at the Robinsville location. We've always had good service at the manasquan location. Service at Robinsville was very poor. Apparently no assigned server, 30 minutes before seeing any server, dirty partially filled water glass on the table, bottled beer arrived with no glass, soup with no spoon. vegetarian entree served with shrimp.

When I made the reservation I made it a point in writing, a request to see the dinner menu even if we were going there for lunch & to increase reservation to 7 people. We were going to celebrate 2 events— Father’s day & death anniversary. We were looking forward to some specific dishes. They acknowledged the # of people but never mentioned anything about Sunday being brunch only till 3p!! The kitchen would not honor our request for other orders & inforrmed we have to wait for dinner time for it. To say the least, we were quite disappointed by their lack of communication beforehand. We could have better prepared ourselves & our guests on what to expect. The food was good. I give credit where credit is due— the shrimp chowder & honey roasted garlic wings were delicious. Just wished they could have been more honest upfront.

I had halibut which was okay but hardly any vegetables. It was an expensive dish and more vegetables would have made it better.

Some dishes were excellent, the drunken class needed more garlic, there was little flavor in the broth. Prices are on the high side.

This restaurant opened relatively recently and may still be undergoing some growing pains. Coming from New York City I have very high expectations for restaurant service and quality. The servers were pleasant, but not very attentive. We frequently had to reach out to bus boys or other servers to get some aspect of our meal or drinks delivered. Our first basket of bread was hard enough to break a window. We mentioned it to our server and was eventually brought a new basket, which was fine. It took a while to get drinks, which were quite good once they arrived. The dinner entrées were very good, but not once while dining did our waitress stop by to check and make sure everything was OK with dinner. The restaurant was not crowded but the wait staff was still not very attentive. The pricing also seems a little high for its location. Cocktails were $18 and dinner pricing was in the mid $30s to mid $40s. For appetizers my wife had oysters, and I have the chowder of the day. While the chowder was very tasty, it was not very warm. It probably had been sitting while the oysters were being prepared. We had requested outside seating which was readily available, but changed our mind when we arrived and saw that their outdoor dining was on the corner between two high traffic roads. Not the nicest of places to have an outdoor meal. Overall, it was a good experience, but the staff quality needs to improve a bit to justify the high cost.

Our first time visiting any Harpoon Willy’s and will give it another visit. To be honest the dinner menu needs more choices but have a good selection of appetizers. The entrees were just ok at best. The truffle chicken was good as an overall dish, crab cakes need more flavor but the most disappointing dish was the Shrimp Aribata which was sweet in red sauce with little flavor and parepadell pasta was not good. My fault for ordering a pasta dish in a non Italian restaurant. The service was good and atmosphere was comfortable and open. I would give it another try but maybe for lunch not dinner.
